The down stairs (basement level) restaurant was not open yet but they were serving beer just outside of the entrance on the first floor, middle of the mercato. For beers we had a blond and two pale ales. The ales had a nice red color and a great malty finish to them and although high abv at around 8% they went down rather easy. At €4.5 for a medium pour it seemed well worth it. Their were plenty of tables inside to sit at and the food court offered many great selections if you are hungry.

It's a little out of the city center, so the parking's a bit better, but only a bit. We both ordered the BrewDog Punk IPA, a standard West Coast IPA, which was decent. I even ordered another. I got the Salmon LT sandwich, a club with salmon as opposed to bacon. Toasted, which is common in this region of Italy. Tasty, although I might have enjoyed it with a little less cream cheese. My buddy ordered the hamburger with guacamole. The burger bordered on raw, but je enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and helpful, letting us sample some of the beers before we ordered. It's a good-sized place with tons of tables, inside and out. We arrived about 6:30, and the place was mostly empty. But it filled quickly after 7 with many folks stopping for a beer and snack after work.

The buffet is quite good, plentiful, filling, varied, and mixes typically English, with Italian specialties.

We were there. We ordered food and had it served to us. That's about all I can say - the experience was neither good, nor bad, it just was. The line to get in later was out the door, and had I known about the huge tapas buffet that would have made sense. It's the spot where you come during your year studying abroad to get drunk and make out in some dark corner, and lord knows there is certainly a time and a place for that.

Seafood, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, burgers... as well as drinks and desserts. There is a common area of tables and chairs, plus a few restaurants with their own seats. It's crazy busy during dining hours, so go at off hours if you can to avoid the crowd. Many of the shops have bilingual menus or visual displays of their dishes, plus a staff with good command of English, so ordering shouldn't be difficult. We ate at one of the restaurants called Sorelle Ribelli, and tried a pasta dish gramigna (a local specialty), and it was excellent. Wish we had more time to explore the market better and tried more food, but as it was only a day trip for us we had to move on to sightseeing. If we ever make it back to Bologna, we'd love to stop by again.

They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.
