This is my favourite store in vancouver! The moment you walk through the door your eyes drink in the beautiful colours from all the ornamental umbrellas and lamps. It also smells fabulous. Like you've been transported to Bali! Wander has lots of jewellery, batik tapestries, beautifully carved tables and ornate wall hangings. There's also exotic soaps, incense and dishes. I also love there summer dresses. I just bought two. I like them because they're adjustable, made of natural material and look great. The people who run the store are great too. Especially the redhead (sorry i don't know your name.) If finance allowed I'd spend my whole paycheque here every month! read more

This adorbs import shop on Commercial Drive drew me in with its bright colors and beautiful displays. It's one of those shops I'm glad isn't close to my house or I'd be over there wayyy too often adding various colorful furniture, knick-knacks, and bric-a-brac to my stale beige apartment. The shop features two rooms devoted to all things imports. The first room is mainly small items, from jewelry and candles to clothing and other decor items. If you're looking for a gift for that hard-to-shop-for friend, this is the place. The second room is full of seriously gorgeous furniture and larger household decor items. Dressers, chairs, beds, dining sets, tapestries, lamps, rugs...it's all in here and it's all just begging you to dig out the ol' credit card and re-dec your place to look like you just returned from a six month excursion through Southeast Asia. The staff are super helpful, too. I was looking for a wall tapestry for my daughter (who is trying desperately to add a boho vibe to her bedroom). The store employee showed me the different sized tapestries and helped me pick one that most suited my kid's vibe. She said if my daughter didn't like it I was welcome to come back and exchange it for a different one. (Luckily, she liked it!) Someday when I win the Mega Millions I'm going to head to Wander and buy one-of-everything. read more

When the long time occupant of this retail space vacated the location there was a real gap, I admit. But then newcomer Spirits Free arrived, and although at first it seemed the store had an identity crisis, leaving the sign blank with no name for months, the character of the shop, now aptly named 'Wander', really took an independent form. The space was brightened up considerably and filled with affordable merchandise from around the globe. Add nice music and an uncluttered layout and voila! You have an inviting, warm place to buy lovely things for yourself or gifts for friends. The merchandise includes home decor and objects of self adornment. From tribal style to Yoga style, there's something for everyone and every season. You can't just pass by, you have to wander in :) read more

Wander is like a walk through an enchanted forest for your senses (except taste, unless you like nibbling on wooden furniture): enter the darkened doorway and discover treasures all throughout the shop. Take in the scent of reclaimed wood furniture, the sight of colourful tapestries, racks of clothes, bowlfuls of jewellery, stacks of bolsters, poles of scarves and unique decorations, and the tappity tap of small percussion (and on the hot days of summer, the whir of an air-conditioner, which is indeed a welcome sound on those kinds of days). Wander is the first place I go to when I'm looking for new pants. Pants? Pants. The selection of lightweight rayon bottoms is great: harem, flare, wide-legged, and flowy, all in gorgeous colours and patterns. I have 7 pairs of pants from here, and I do believe I'll be adding more before summer's end. Shirts, tops, dresses, skirts, shorts, rompers, rings, bracelets, necklaces, sweaters, jackets, wraps, and scarves are all reasonably priced. The reclaimed furniture is a bit spendy for me, but I'm not in the market for that right now, so haven't seriously considered any of it. I don't get to Commercial much these days, but on a sunny day off, I love grabbing a coffee and a friend so that we can hit up Wander! I recently went there because I was in search of a new ring. I wanted to buy myself a one-of-a-kind ring as a graduation present to myself. Still being on a student budget, I didn't have a lot to spend. After perusing the many different semi-precious stones and gems and styles of rings, I found the most beautiful mystic topaz ring! The woman at the cash register helped me find my size and was quick to note each type of stone to me. She also assured to me that the silver was sterling (unlike a lot of other shops that carry these types of rings that use a lower quality.) I am really happy with my purchase and planning to head back to Wander again next week to bring my mom who is visiting from out of town! read more

If you're a big fan of Southeast Asian arts and craft (mainly Indonesian) then I recommend going to this little store of wonders! They have a wide variety of Indonesian wood work from wooden masks of Ganesh to small wooden figures of animals such as crocodiles and elephants to Indonesian made furniture. To top it off, the staff in the store are very friendly! Never have I seen a sales associate hovering by my side for a quick sale. I appreciate that they let you roam the store in peace. read more

I walk into Wander and it smells like home. I travel to South East Asia once every year and am never able to take large furniture or woodwork items back home to Vancouver with me. Discovering Wander means that all of the items I've dreamed of brining home, I can now conveniently purchase. The help we receive at this location is beyond good customer service. The staff are educated and helpful, always looking in the shop's nooks and crannies for their rare, possibly hidden treasures. It's hard to tear myself away from my visits to the shop because the sights and smells remind me of my "other" home in Thailand. We always walk away with what feels to us like unique treasures that had been waiting on their shelves until we discovered them and gave them a home. Wander's merchandise is fair trade and handmade which makes it all the better. I've always had a lovely experience in your shop, keep up the great work:) read more

Absolutely love this store,. I used to live on commercial drive but had never gone here. Just made a day trip to vancouver yesterday and was walking down the drive, went into this store and fell in love with everything! I literally wanted to buy everything.. it is full of unique interesting things. decor, jewellery, clothing, they have everything. When I walked through the doors I was instantly awash in soothing & stunning Buddhist & Hindu iconography in the form of statues, furniture, clothing & jewelry. This is a true hiddem gem on Commercial Drive! The place is just chalk-full of awesome stuff. Everything from sparkly jewellery to awesome tshirts to cool ear stretchers to giant scary dragon head masks...pretty much anything a reasonable person could ever want!
