Don't go here. Had fun with the luggage today. Took it to Wanderlust Luggage for wheels that had been quashed. I thought I had read the reviews. Apparently I hadn't. Anyway, he quoted me $140 to fix the wheels. He encouraged me saying it was a really good bag and worth it. I paid it but had 2nd thoughts. I came home and read the reviews and realized that I had overpaid. I called him to say don't go ahead as I don't have any insurance that will cover it and that is too much. He said it was already done but he would drop the price to $95. I reluctantly agreed. He said he would refund me $45. I had left only 1/2 before. I decided to go get it - as he had said it was done. Of course it hadn't been. They got the wheel off after I came in but didn't have the other one on. I said I want it back. Eventually he gave it to me and refunded the card the $140. However, there is a little crack on the top now that I hadn't noticed before but I can't prove anything. I'm hoping I can home fix that. I'm sure he wouldn't noticed that when I brought it in and suggested fixing it. But again I have no proof. read more

One must be careful with this shop on luggage repairs. It conducts business in the "old fashion" way where haggling is compulsory, unless you do not care much about repair costs. I had a Victorinox carryon bag with life-time warranty for more than ten years. In the past, I have sent it back to the factory warranty center to have its wheels replaced twice and handle repaired once. I am a very frequent traveler and do put this bag through its paces. Well, the wheels were making noise again, and I took it to Wanderlust for under-warranty repair. They said they will check with Victorinox to see if the repair is covered since the bag is more than ten-year old. Two days later they told me that they have checked, and Victorinox will not honor the warranty. However, they can fix the wheels for me for $150, a discount from the normal cost of $225. I thought it was too expensive and we haggles. They finally dropped the price to $85. That was still too high for me and I elected not to fix it there. Consequently, I called up the official Victorinox North American Support, reported my squeaky wheels, and provided my luggage ID number. They asked for and examined a photo of the bag and told me that indeed they CAN repair the wheels under warranty. The wheels were held by two hex-screws that literally takes two minutes to replace. I told Victorinox that instead of sending the bag back and forth, I am happy to replace the wheels myself if they can send me the parts. They promptly sent me two wheels in the mail. It seems that Wanderlust did not want to repair my wheels under warranty. Instead, they want to repair them out of my pocket so they can charge me a higher repair fee. I am normally OK with higher quotations as it is a free society, one can elect not to do business if one thinks the cost is too high. However, to tell me that my bag cannot be repaired under warranty while it actually can is NOT OK. I would have left a 1-star rating except that the shop did sell me a used Victorinox, one that is almost the same as mine but a couple of years younger, at a good price. It is a used one but in very good condition. Victorinox has stopped making that model in recent years and I have no way to replace mine, otherwise. My conclusion with Wanderlust is buyers be aware. You can get a good value buying luggage there if you know what your are doing. You should definitely negotiate on repairs since they will quote you a high price without challenges. read more

I came into the shop expecting to have to wait several days before my suitcase was fixed. The wheel housing was in very rough shape and the handle only retracted 20% of the time. The person disappeared with my suitcase---I thought he had forgotten I was waiting--- About 11 minutes later he returned. He had replaced the plastic housing along with a wheel, and the handle actually retracted again. This was such a pleasant surprise for me. One trip. All fixed. read more

Do Not Buy Used Luggage From This Company! I had an old carry on suitcase I was fond of but the extendable handle broke. These folks repaired it at a cost of $175 but it broke again the first time I used it. When I took it in again, I was given a choice of another repair at the same price, which I was told might not work, or buying a used similar suitcase for about $280. I chose to buy the used one. The first time I used it, the handle broke. It was never checked or misused in any way. I spent the next month travelling with a broken suitcase. When I took it in, I was refused any refund. It was pointed out that I had bought a used suitcase and that there were no refunds. He did offer to repair it for free but I declined telling him I had no confidence in their repairs based on my past experience. I didn't want it to break again while I was on a trip! read more

I wouldn't recommend this business. They are expensive ($75 per suitcase wheel replaced), and they sometimes use recycled parts. You pay in advance as well. I have a black suitcase, it needed 2 wheels replacing, they replaced them with 1 nice new black wheel, and 1 obviously used grey wheel. When I brought this up with the owner he said he would double the 6 month warranty to 1 year - this isn't useful for me as I only use this suitcase once a year. I just wish they had been honest with me about the repairs and had I known in advance that the parts wouldn't all be new, I would have bought a new suitcase instead of repairing this one. read more

He could tell how my lock was broken by force and I thought it was just the pull tab that broke on my brand new Samsonite Executive suitcase. Likely culprit: lazy security check couldn't be bothered to open my TSA lock with the proper universal key. He quickly substituted in another Samsonite pull tab & another locking mechanism while I waited. Then educated me on how to make a claim to my air carrier as it was not a Samsonite fault. The person is very arrogant and pushy. He wouldn't let go of the other client and kept convincing him that he can do a good job. The price for a repair was outrageous. He kept rationalizing the price because he offers a warranty. Even when I said that I do not need the warranty, his price is still high. Prior to coming to him (he does not want to give a quote over the phone), I already talked to another repair company. When I told him that the other company offers half the price that he is charging me, he can't believe it. I brought the luggage to the other company and the person there was so nice, doesn't push you, very professional and when I got the luggage, the repair was well done and half the price of what this company charges. read more

I was told the repair would include a 3-year warranty where they would fix any issues related to the new "European-made heavy duty" wheels. Just 1 year later the right wheel started acting up. Quick, affordable, friendly- that's all I was looking for to get my wheel fixed on my carry-on size Heys luggage. They were quick to respond to my request for a quote via their website. The website listed a higher price for replacement wheels than what they quoted me $55. Plus $15 if I wanted a rush on it (I.e. Wait for the repair while I was in the shop). I went to the store I noticed the check-in deal on Yelp - 15% off repairs. In the end, they charged me $55 plus tax to fix the wheel right then and there. So instead of 15% off I got $15 dollars off. They are a small, seemingly family run, business. So I feel like you could try to negotiate the cost. When I went into the store, then guy asked me how much I had been quoted via my email. So it seems like their prices are not fixed. I don't regret not haggling though, it's great to support local business while saving the environment. I've read many good and bad reviews, and thought I should just ignore the bad reviews and go to them anyways since it's just a quick minor repair. My fault for not listening to those who tried to warn me about this store being scammers and utterly rude. They appear very friendly and helpful when you bring it in to them, but when it's time for pick up and you are not satisfied with their terrible workmanship, you'd be surprised how rude and defensive they get. I've checked elsewhere and found out later that it could be easily done for half the price. Do your homework and go elsewhere. read more

Just picked up my Samsonite carry-on which had a broken frame. The fellow at wanderlust was very friendly and knowledgeable about the structural elements of my bag and explained how it likely got damaged. While it wasn't a cheap fix, it looks well-repaired. I guess the true test will be on my next trip. He also repaired a few other things at the same time and didn't charge me. I'd go back to Wanderlust if I need other repairs in the future. read more

Can I give this "luggage repair" facility ZERO??? We have two very nice Victoronix pieces of luggage (24" and 26") that both needed the two bottom corners repaired because the vinyl/leather covering over the spring wire had worn out and the wire was showing. The luggage was about three years old and, other than the two corners, were in perfect condition. These guys "fixed" them in the worst, ugliest possible way. It looked like some 10 year old kids attempted the repair. I can't explain how bad the repairs looked other than to say, the pieces looked much better before the repair. Also, this company uses the name "Wanderlust," probably trying to scam a little business from the fabulous luggage store, Wanderlust on 4th Ave in Kitsilano area of Vancouver. Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with this location and would not go here. Apparently they are an authorized return center for Victorinox, so I brought my bag in for repairs, along with the original proof of purchase. The shoulder should strap was broken, making the bag unusable as intended. The messenger bag comes with a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately the store refused to honor this, citing "wear and tear." and refused to do repair the clearly defective part. They also arbitrarily insisted that a lifetime warranty is only good for 5 years. However, it appeared that it was just something they made up on the spot. They did offer to replace the part for $75. I said no thanks, filed a complaint with Victorinox and went somewhere else. read more

I had a purse with a broken zipper. Quoted a minimum of $35 which was almost what I paid for it, so I was simply going to throw out the bag. The clerk then offered to fix it for less if I paid cash. When I picked it up a week later, it was fixed. I liked that they moved an attachment to make it look better, but if you look closely, the sewing was not done with finesse. The repaired corner sticks up but it's not that noticeable. read more

Went in with a lifetime warranty, on an overpriced suitcase, with two wheels that popped off, casually in an airport. I also had an email from the manufacturer that I was covered for the damage based on photos. At first I couldn't recall if it was a ten year warranty, or a lifetime warranty, and as soon as I got a signal out if their store, I could see it was a lifetime, and it was a ten on another unrelated suitcase. No matter though, they made their minds up. The two rude guys treated me like I was a criminal in there, and made reference to other minor scratches (result of dragging case home without wheels), that had nothing to do with the wheels that I was attempting to replace; as excuses for being unwilling to honour the warranty. They walked away from the counter into their little office without saying a word, and that was that. Save your time, don't go here. Any other licensed repair place has been better, no attitude, complications, or drama. read more

I brought it a custom mosquito net that required a lot of my own time to create for my Westfalia camper van. The zipper need to be replaced. They showed me a heavy duty zipper that was long enough and told me I would not be able to find anything like it unless I bought a suitcase and removed the zipper from the suitcase. They told me the zipper would be $75 and the labour to replace the broken zipper and sew in the new would be $100 for a total of $175! I figured that these guys to professional work it would be worth the money to have a bug screen that lasts. When I picked it up 5 days later, to my surprise it looked like a child had worked on it. The stitching is not straight, the cuts are not square and the screen pulls and is rippled due to tension all the way down now. In fact it didn't even operated as intended without their modification while I waited. I told them the workmanship was unacceptable and was told that the guy that sewed it is old! That's their excuse, our labourers are old and inept! This screen is to be used on a show vehicle. The Westfalia is a registered collector's vehicle. The next day I find out that they straight up lied to me about parts. They told me the #10 zipper slider would be impossible to find, yet I just orded a proper double pull slider made by YKK on ebay for $5.61USD and 5 yards of YKK #10 zipper for $12.91USD. So, they do sloppy work, they lie to their customers faces and they don't make it right. Check my photos at my google review. Does it look like a job you'd pay a professional $175 for? Update: Upon emailing requesting a refund, Seyed threatens to report me to the police for harassment. Awesome customer service. read more

Tumi is not well served having this opportunistic business associated with it . It gives it credibility it doesn't deserve. After eight years of perfect service my beautiful, hard-sided Samsonite suitcase came home from a trip to Venice with a five-inch crack in one corner. I was brokenhearted and decided that it was time for a new bag. I looked for a few months only to discover that a similar quality bag would now cost me $600.00! I searched around a bit on Google and discovered that my bag could be repaired. I spotted Wanderlust Luggage Repair on Kingsway in my Google search and I was very impressed to read that they offer a free estimate via email if an image of the damage is submitted via a form on their website. I went ahead and sent a digital photo of the cracked bag and I received a reasonable estimate by email within two days. I took the bag in for repairs this week and picked up the bag today. I phoned earlier in the day to see if they could fix the zipper on my suitcase. The zipper is fine but the fob had broken which made opening it a bit of a challenge. When I arrived, he told me it would be the minimum charge - $35! Then he offered $30. When I declined (I can get something from the hardware store that won't look great but will be functional), he offered to take the bag from me (it's a Heys) and provide a (cheap copycat) piece in exchange. Another decline. My trip was a total waste of time and had he mentioned on the phone there was a minimum $35 charge, I would have saved myself the trip. read more

After reading reviews I took my small bag here to have the zipper repaired/replaced. They quoted $120 to replace or $60 to repair. I was shocked as I paid less than $100 for the bag, but he insisted that the bag was a $300 bag. No way, I wouldn't buy an over the shoulder travel bag for that much. Went home and checked the bag company's website, and sure enough the bag cost $99 online. Took it to another shop that is charging me $45 for the zipper replacement. A repair wasn't even offered as the zipper was stretched beyond repair. Will never go back to this place. read more
