His past experience as a contractor was extraordinarily valuable: he was able to show us what potential problems might lurk in an otherwise good-appearing resale property, and conversely to tell us when we were looking at well-built homes. He spent untold hours, many on weekends and evenings, visiting properties and helping us make decisions. He was patient with us throughout; I imagine many realtors would have given up on us somewhere along the course of that year. His calm demeanor and steady hand throughout that time kept us on the right track. In addition, once our bid on a property was accepted, he continued to work with us, spending long hours over the next six months helping us as the new home was being completed. He was a great advocate and advisor for us in dealing with the builder, and letting us know what we should expect from this process and helping us get through the steps between making a bid and closing on the home.
