Stopped by for a coffee on a Saturday morning and was very pleased with the service and the quality of the coffee. I ordered a cafe latte and got a homemade oatmeal crème pie. The coffee was done perfectly and quick. I enjoyed the coffee in the dining area that was quiet and very clean. I will be back.

I thought this was a great local coffee shop. Their social media FB account has the goodies for specials. I got a dirty pumpkin spice chai and hubby got some concoction he asked for that was pretty good. I don't remember what it was but it had almond syrup in it. We also got a sausage ball - where have I been, I've never had one of these below. I'm going to have to make some at home now. We got a brown butter scone also and it was very dense like a brownie. There is a microwave to warm up your goodies. I wish I could have gotten some of the hot cocoa balls but I feared they would not survive my flight back. The barista working there was very nice and friendly. I have never visited Alabama before so seeing the Bible Belt in action was a little different for me, but not bad at all. I thought it was nice to have all of the religious touches around and they had a board out front to see if anyone had any requests (spiritual or not) to write down on the board. Lovely addition it seemed like to their downtown area.

Over priced coffee that I'd a tad above a what you can make at home. If it wasn't for the atmosphere I think this place would close.

The Falkville downtown is very small and quaint but cute. There's street parking right in front of the shop and I nabbed a spot. I walked into a really adorable environment - it felt super homey and several people were at work on laptops or chatting. They also had a few selections of local crafts and gifts, which I enjoyed checking out. They have small bites and cafe type breakfast and lunch items (eg paninis, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, muffins, etc) and an extensive hot and iced drink menu. They did have some Valentine's Day styled seasonal specialty lattes advertised, but I didn't really like the sound/flavor combinations of any of them. Instead, I was able to build my own latte with flavor add-ins, which is nice. I ordered an iced latte with dark chocolate and maybe cinnamon? It's been a while since my visit but I seem to recall cinnamon. The service was adequate; my drink was ready in a timely fashion and the barista checked to see if I wanted an alternative milk. However, I didn't get the most friendly vibe and when I asked about the specialty drinks (e.g., which one is your favorite?) the answer was pretty flat and noncommittal. Idk, just a slightly weird vibe. Nothing crazy unpleasant, I just didn't feel very welcome, I guess. No biggie, I wanted to start the drive home anyway. I enjoyed my drink. It was nicely balanced and I could definitely taste the dark chocolate. And, unless I'm hallucinating this memory/flavor add-in, the cinnamon gave it a nice kick. It was a pleasant pick-me-up on the ride home. If you're in the area, I'd recommend stopping by for a tasty drink and some fun decor/gift shopping.

The owner & a worker were seated @ a table each with a drink & phone in hand. The both quickly came to the register as they half heartedly greeted me... their phones were waay more interesting, I suppose. I asked what is Texas caviar (I was super looking forward to trying w/e it is). I was informed with a chuckle from the owner "aw, that was just something we tried for a bit. We don't have it no more..." Oooo-Kay!... Neither suggested another option. Oh well, I love chicken salad & I'm pretty picky about it, too. While I was seated. They both disappeared in back. I assume to appear busy.... My food came out quickly. It was Good! I'd recommend it... the worker wonder in & out a couple of times. The manager, once. As I finished eating... I was decidedly bored & didn't feel inclined to spend any more time there. The worker saw me stand & quickly came toward me asking "if I was done with that plate"... I smiled & said yes.... She took it from the table without another word& headed back to the kitchen.. I left... disappointed....

I love all nerdy things and had pinned Current on my to-try collection a while back. It's a little easy to miss driving around, but my GPS got me there. Parking is pretty limited -- the business next door had to ask some people to move because they'd created a spot behind the worker's truck, lol -- but I had a lovely experience once I found my way inside! They have a pretty large menu for a game cafe, and much of it is vegan or vegetarian. Pressed sandwiches, burgers, baked goodies, smoothies, all kinds of coffee drinks, and salads/wraps. I wanted something warm, light, and comforting. As simple as it may be, I was thrilled to find a pressed PB&J on the menu for a low price. I was offered my selection of a surprisingly large number of jellies (strawberry for me!) and my sandwich came out quickly. I had both a sweet tea and a latte -- hydration and stimulation! Lol. The food was good, and my mint mocha latte tasted just like an Andes mint. My favorite part of this place, though, is the vibe! Nerdy and inclusive. Wish all places could be like that. :) Fun merchandise from all kinds of anime, shows, games, movies, etc; board games; a tidy all-gender restroom; Pride flags of different flavors everywhere...it really did feel like a pocket of welcomeness. I don't see enough spaces like that in the southeast, sadly, and so it's extra nice when you do come across it. There were lots of teens and folks wearing alternative style hanging around in cozy couches and tables playing games and I just love to see it! While the game and card selection isn't /massive/, it's perfectly satisfying (remember -- not a ton of space in the building) and the staff was more than willing to help with people's questions. This is a wonderful space to hang out, make new friends (if games/anime/nerd culture is your scene), and grab a bite to eat. Give it a go if it sounds like your speed!

3.5/5. I came here…read moreto grab a few donuts to take home with me a week or two ago. To be totally transparent, I honestly am not the hugest fan of donuts, so my opinion may not be the most informed. There's plenty of room to park and I like that they stay open a little later than many other places that offer donuts. It's more spacious than I thought it would be inside and there are a few tables to sit at. The trash cans looked a little full and one table had some sugar spilled on it but other than that it was clean and warm. Donuts are displayed in a case by the register. There were a LOT of choices and I remember it being mostly unlabeled so I kind of had to guess based on appearance. There was a menu on the wall but one couldn't necessarily 100% reliably match the listed items to their counterparts in the case. Not a huge deal, but would be a positive change imo to add labels next to the actual donuts. Anyway, I wound up with a chocolate cake donut, a blueberry cake donut, and a chocolate glazed regular/fried donut with peanuts on top. The woman operating the cashier was supremely pleasant and really made my visit - she was just so warm and friendly. She threw in a couple donut holes, either as a kindness or perhaps because they were nearing closing time anyway. Regardless, the were appreciated! I brought the donuts home to my husband and we ate them for dessert later. He likes fried donuts more so he got about 80% of the fried (I wanted a little bite lol), I ate the blueberry donut, and we split the chocolate cake donut and donut holes. The holes were airy and had a nice vanilla flavor. The traditional fried donut was a little dry and the glaze a little waxy, but the peanuts were a nice addition. The chocolate cake donut was heavy and the sugary exterior was crackly in a way I didn't particularly love, but it was tolerable. The blueberry cake donut was my favorite part, as it was fluffy and not overly sweet. Again, I tend to be kind of hard on donuts because they're just not my favorite treat, so definitely give them a shot and see for yourself how you feel about them. Kudos for the lovely and kind service.

I tried one of their specialty drinks, the Bulldog Blitz, which is a latte with chocolate, caramel, and hazelnut. It was certainly a pretty drink, with swirls of chocolate running up and down the sides of the clear cup. For me, the taste was just okay. I didn't get much other than coffee and milk flavors -- not strong on any of the add-ins. I like my coffee like I like my dessert - sweet, lol. And this wasn't especially sweet. It was creamy at least. Not a bad place to stop by, especially if you don't wanna get out of your car, and I often don't, lol. I'd return in the future and try a different drink, or ask for some extra flavor shots.

So this past weekend I went to Festa Italiana it was basically the Italian version of Taco Fest…read more While I did enjoy myself I left with a underwhelming feeling. To start off I will say Italian American Heritage Society of Birmingham, Alabama did a great job with making sure people stayed cool. Besides the food trucks everything was either under tents or under the bridge at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. They had free water stations as well as water to purchase. They even had a huge air blower out there keeping people cool. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Seeing people actually do grape stomping and sauce contest were pretty cool too! Now here is where the food comes in. I was not able to try all the places I wanted to try due to extremely long lines. The 3 places I did try I will talk about now. First up Da Big Italian I ended up getting Da Vinnie and Da Big Italian. Da Vinnie was pretty good the sausage had decent flavor but that was about it. Nothing too crazy. Da Big Italian was extremely underseasoned and it mostly tasted like pickled banana peppers. It apparently had mozzarella cheese in it and I didn't even notice it. Huge let down. Da Vinnie 7/10 Da Big Italian 5/10 Next we have Sliced this was genuinely really good pizza. All the flavors were there like all systems go. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and just never got to it. Like I have no notes whatsoever so I'm just gonna give my score of an 8.5/10. I will be back for more. Lastly Arnone's Italian Sausage. This was the biggest disappointment because I was super excited to try them. I ordered the Italian Sausage of course. It came with grilled onions and nothing else. Yall when I say this was the most blandist thing I have ever eaten. The sausage had no flavor at all the grilled onions were also flavorless like they used no salt, pepper, Worcester sauce, no nothing. Easy 1/10 I was extremely disappointed. All in all I enjoyed the event and if there is another one I'll be back to try the places I wasn't able to get too. I do not blame the company that put this together for any of the bad food. These guys put on a great show and I can't wait to see more!
