I recently discovered them on Instagram and saw that they were opening a store in St Kevins Arcade on K'Road (full of exciting things). I was so thrilled because it is a seriously awesome shop! It is a haven for all things colourful, whether it be art, jewellery, stationery, books, candles or homewares! I loved everything I came across in Matchbox, but here is a taste of what you might find: - Funky colourful cards (for example the Koala dressed in a Hawaiian shirt) - Range of art prints, including skulls (yay!), famous people, grumpy cat, etc. - The Beatles tea bags (check out the picture!) - Candles and soaps (all with very nice scents) and - Colourful cups, straws, plates and napkins - perfect for picnics or parties at home, plus so much more! The shop assistant was friendly and she was really happy when I signed up to their mailing list. How could I not - everything at Matchbox is fabulous and fun! So, if you need a gift or want to decorate your room with bright colours, then I highly recommend you visit Matchbox Studios today - I am sure you won't be disappointed!

This little unassuming shop sold hundred upon hundreds of magazines from all over the world. It was amazing. Then, one day, poof, it disappeared. The end of an era. I know this is going to sound really lame, but I nearly cried when I walked into Mag Nation for the first time; all that I loved about RD Franks is back in Auckland. They're here, they're all here: Love, Lula, Oyster, British Elle, Black...all of my favourite magazines from all over the world are right here under one roof. All the magazines are neatly divided into sections, which makes it really easy to browse and there's more than enough space for each title to be perused. Some of the more obscure titles are pretty expensive, with some fetching upto $100 or so, but the more mainstream titles are actually pretty good value. My beloved British Elle is only around $10, only a couple of dollars more than it would cost in the UK. Literally cannot rate this place highly enough. There are aisles of all kinds of things for your home, a massive chopstick section, Hello Kitty cling wrap, food bags and plasters. Interestingly a big range of nappies and other baby things. It is fun just to look around, there are some odd things here too, especially in the bathroom and cleaning sections. The store is a little treasure chest of clocks, pens, photo frames and cards and I couldn't help but covet almost everything in there. I was also really impressed by the value of it. I often find independent shops selling these kind of things are really expensive but I picked up really nice folder for only $2 and they have little promotions running like 6 for $10 on stationary items like pens and erasers in fun colours. It would be a great place to shop if you know any young girls, I imagine they'd love all of the cutesy animal shaped pens and clocks but also for adults who (like me) are young at heart and think everyday items are so much better when they're shaped like pandas.
