They also take photos and videos of the morning and afternoon crews that I love watching. The daycare dog Gus is super friendly and chill and loves to greet and welcome all the humans. Street parking is limited but I always manage to find a spot during drop off and pick up. Highly recommend.

No such luck - we saw a butterfly, a couple birds, a beetle and that's about it. That said, this is a nice path for walking and we appreciate that for the most part, it's not shared with cyclists. Beware if you go on a hot day that there is very little protection from the sun. Dress in layers and definitely bring a hat and sunglasses as on the day we visited last summer we absolutely roasted and then melted in the heat! Plenty of parking available and it's also nice that it's not too far out of the way.

It was dry, because South Surrey and White Rock never seems to get as much rain as Vancouver and North Vancouver. From there we walked down the beachside trail with whitecaps and windsurfers on one side, and gorgeous beachside cottages on the other. I was glad to be wearing a good windbreaker because a mighty wind blows in off Boundary Bay. This is a popular beach area in the summer, but it's a good place for a flat, easy walk in the winter, too. You can go quite a ways along the trail, tracing the shoreline, or just a quick and out and back before dark.

Although this park is in the middle of an off ramp it was a great utilization of the space. The…read morepups were not bothered by the traffic noise at all and actually had a blast. I also found it to be very clean with no dog poop or cigarette butts on the ground. Like all off leash parks there was a garbage can at the entrance. This dog park has a few drawbacks for people with normal and well-adjusted pets: it's in the middle of a traffic interchange for the Queensborough Bridge, is mostly a big gravel hill, and requires crossing a footbridge to get there. Unfortunately for people in the neighbourhood, this replaced what was previously a more pleasant park, which was razed when they redesigned and rebuilt the roads and on-ramps to the bridge a few years ago, and threw the off-leash area into the middle. Now, most other people seem to avoid this dog park. Fortunately for me and my furry problem child, I can usually have the place to myself for a while to give her a good workout. In addition, there is only one entrance gate, which makes it easy for me to keep an eye out for anyone who does come along and wants to use the park; I always leash the dog and give way to the other person when that happens. (In a perfect world, I wouldn't have to do this, but despite whatever her early socialization was, this dog needs to run regularly, so we do the best we can with what we've got to work with.) The gravel and chain link fence and poop mines make the place frankly look a little ghetto-barren. The tiny trees don't throw much shade in the summer, but there are a couple of benches and a water tap (turned off in winter). I also love that from the top of the hill, you get a panoramic view of the Fraser River and bridges and clouds. And as for the traffic, every so often my dog likes to run along the fence to chase the cars and trucks. Hey, whatever burns off the energy. My very favourite part of this weird, ugly, unloved dog park? The happy panting in the backseat on the way home.

There is now a lovely handicap accessible porta potty complete with pave stone pathway immediately to the right of the entry for the large dog area. 2. Yes, a few folks do sit in their vehicles while their dog is in the park. At least a couple of these people have health issues and cannot be with their dogs the entire time. We are a small community. We look out for each other. Please be understanding that sometimes there is more to the story than what you see. 3. I see more tourists not pick up after their dogs than residents. And let's face it, sometimes it's easy to be distracted speaking with friends, playing with other dogs, or engaging with visitors. If you find yourself at the park during a lull, there are several scoopers available. Grab a scooper, take a walk, and log some karma points. The smaller scooper is easier to dump into the bagged trashcans than the larger one (which requires a bit more talent). Or if you see a nearby singular poop that got missed, pick it up with a poop bag. We have a fantastic resource here. Cherish it. Take care of it, even if you are just visiting, And remember, with a little TLC m maybe we can hold onto this little doggie paradise for a long time.

You can wait while your friends are out on the water and enjoy a picnic, but during berry season the noise from the field across the street is distracting. You'd be much better off jumping into your boat or kayak, and head somewhere else to enjoy the day. Perfect place to put into the water, here.

The area is decent sized, and even has a separate "small dog" fenced area within the big dog area. It's nothing fancy, and has lots of holes dug up by other dogs over the years. But if you are looking for a fenced in area to let your pup run around, it's great for that !

Trees and lakes keep the air fresh, the noise pollution down and makes you feel like you escaped the city without leaving town. Plenty of people were enjoying the 69 degree weather. Some lounging in their lawn chairs, walking the dogs on the trail or canoeing on the lake. The boardwalk is especially nice for walking, for the structural metal strips keep it bike-free and peaceful. Meanwhile, there are many scenic trails through the trees that cyclists can enjoy. We completed the one hour/2.6 mile loop trail around the lake passing gorgeous heritage homes, a wedding taking place on the festival lawn and people fishing off the docks. Next time, I'm renting a canoe or kayak from the Deer Lake Boat rentals to see the park from a different perspective. Bonus:Parking and the views are free!

I've been to Deer Lake several times before, but most recently went there for the Vampire Weekend…read moreconcert. On a clear sunny day, this place beats any other concert venue: it's large enough for concert goers of all types to enjoy. You could easily make your way up to get close to the stage, or you could sit down on the lawn and listen to the tunes. Since the lawn tilts at an angle, it's easy to see the stage from almost anywhere, even if you're really far back. There are also a lot of food trucks to get food or drinks from, and there's a water station where you could fill up your water bottle. The only downside of this venue is that it's not very easily accessible by transit and parking is limited on a busy concert evening.
