If you want some fast food Asian style food this is a pretty healthy option to try. It's a very convenient store. I chose a vegan bento box and I couldn't finish it because there was just too much food inside the box. It had edamame, little rolls and regular rolls. Overall it was packed with tasty veggies in roll style. Similar to Japanese sushi but I would say it's catered to a Western feel. Hubby had the sushi set and he enjoyed it also. The choices during dinner was limited compared to if you eat this during lunch time. Plenty of bottled drinks to choose from. We decided to try a green tea and a aloe vera mango. They also sell desserts if you have a sweet tooth. The matcha brownie was moist and super flavorful. I had the korean bbq beef ramen and the chicken teriyaki yakisoba. Safe to say that both were horrible. You're better off with cup noodles if you want ramen. So disappointed and sad that I wasted 19 pounds. If I could, I would ask for a refund because it was disgusting. The broth was so bland and it smelled like dish water. There was no flavor whatsoever. Go elsewhere, save yourself unless you like food with no taste. There's a Mcdonald's nearby, so go there instead. read more

This is decent for train station sushi and is well priced. It's safe to eat and there is an adequate amount of fish. It would be nice if they had more options which were all one kind of fish, rather than these combo boxes which seem to inevitably include something one finds unappetizing (e.g., for me, the over-fried shrimp tempura rolls). The tables around the restaurant / kiosk could be cleaned a little more frequently. 3 stars because the quality/price ratio is probably below average but surpassed my expectations for a sushi restaurant in this location. read more

It's good solid Asian fare with a UK bent to suit our palette's. I doubt it would cut the mustard in Asia or, say New York...but if you want to gorge on Katsu chicken curry and blast your late night train carriage with the smell for all to enjoy (or not), then make a bee line here. Friday night, rush hour visit....heart goes out to the staff getting it in the ear from frustrated commuters...patience of saints, personally I'd have told the red faced, churches brogue wearing, pinstriped suited prick in front of me to have done one than served him, hence why I don't work in a customer facing role I s'pose. read more

I love hitting up fast casual food when I travel. I heard of Wasabi in New York City, so I was excited to see it at Kings Cross Station. The sushi options hit the spot. This review talks about what we had. Katsu Curry Bento: Hot food in a train station! And not another god damn sandwich or cold M&S meal. The meal comes in a clever box that keeps the sauce and rice separate, and then the fried chicken katsu in its own plastic tray. Pro: crispy chicken, rice flecked with carrots and edamame. Con: Japanese curry was nowhere close enough to the real thing to get again. Maybe good for British tastes? Harmony Sushi Set: Largely salmon nigiri with a mix of rolls-cucumber, salmon, fried shrimp with avo, and crab salad with cucumber (I think). Pros: Classic Western tastes with variety! Sushi rice texture and flavor is solid. Cons: One of the priciest premade trays at 8.20£. Smallish raw fish portions. (Not to brag, but I can get an amazing sushi tray of the same size, for $10-12 in Detroit, Michigan. And yes, we have a good sized Japanese population!) Tamago nigiri: one individually wrapped piece, from their self service collection. Pro: I can get just one! Con: garbage. Egg slice was very small. Might not move quickly as the rice was soggy comparatively. Overall, I'm really pleased to get a hit of good sushi rice without having to break the bank at a sit down restaurant that might not cut it. read more

I am sure this does not happen often but I was served chicken yakisoba a few days ago and "the chicken yakisoba" had no chicken pieces in it. I think, as it was after the busy hour, chicken pieces ran out and the staff was careless and decided to serve the noodles without any chicken pieces. And the taste did not feel anything like yakisoba. Taste of soya sauce dried out too. I normally love Wasabis chicken yakisoba, but I was not impressed that particular day. read more

For convenience, price point and taste Wasabi is a solid 4. The sushi here is better than what you can purchase at a grocery store and worse than a legit sushi restaurant. The chicken curry was quite tasty. This is great for a light, affordable meal that you can eat quickly. I would skip the mochi. It wasn't very tasty. read more

I had a £10 gift voucher to spend at Wasabi, and I must say, for one person, it's pretty much impossible to spend that much, such is the good value. I had a chicken katsu curry bento box. It was way more than I could eat, but really tasty. It's the kind of curry sauce that has chunks of veg. You get a load of sauce, 2 breaded pieces of chicken, loads of rice, and some carrots and edamame. For a filling, relatively balanced meal, I found it to be excellent value at £5.50. My only criticism is the layout of the shop makes it a bit hard to browse all the sushi and other cold items, as the queue gets in the way. I was pleasently surprised by this little place. As a rule i expect train or bus stop food to be lack lustre. This has changed that view entierly. Its on the second floor next to the mexican place and has about 4 tables to sit at with further seating dotted around which you can use downstairs. They have noodles, gyoza, terriyaki and katsu curry in a fridge that you take out and take to them for them to heat up for you witha wide range of other snacks such as onigiri and various single wrapped sushi as well as platters. The taste as well is pretty authentic, not the best but pretty darn good. The katsu curry was lovely and a mesh of japanese and our styles with onions and peas in it which isnt usual and lovely tasty chicken which is heated up and given to you seperately so its not all squidgy and horrible which is another nice touch. We also partook of the onigiri and the sushi. The onigiri is tasty when you get to it but the chicken teriyaki is a mite disapointing with not much flavour. Also the nori is very thin and paper like with the most annoying opening strategy in the world which caused me to rip apart my nori lol. the sushi is very nice, fresh and tasty with the choice of meat, chicken and fish platters. very surprising little place in a train station with friendly staff which is well worth a look on your travels! read more

Wasabi is located in the new Kings Cross Station concourse, on the 2nd floor next to several other eateries. There's only 3 or 4 tables in front of Wasabi, but there's other tables you can use on that 2nd level. It's a great place to get sushi and noodles on the go. We got a Harmony set of sushi for £6.99 and a huge bowl of Chicken Katsu Yakisoba for £4.95. The sushi comes with one packet of soy sauce and wasabi. If you want more, you have to pay extra. read more

No. Was it better than the typical sandwich or burger place you'd eat at? Yes. I got the won-ton soup. You pick your soup from the fridge that is full of noodles, won-tons, veggies,etc. You pay for your order and they fill it up with your choice of soup base. I wouldn't give it a full 5 because the sushi, while much fresher than what you'd get at a supermarket, is still pre-prepared and lacking that just-barely-made quality. Not so much to dream about at Wasabi. And this is not the first location I have tried. I like the idea of fast sushi/Asian dishes. So far I have only tried the sushis. What's wrong with the rice? Soo much rice, not enough salmon. Blend salmon too and actually only salmon to talk about cause they don't do other types of fish. My guess it is for water conservation of fishes, good, but please do the salmon differently. I usually get sashimis and sushis but to me they are very tasteless. For this price, no wonder, salmon is probably farmed somewhere, but I have tried better honestly. I went three times to wasabi and I guess I will never go back again for sushi. By the way they charge you more if you stay. Like 15% or something. No good. Just ask to leave, and sit down even if you said it was to go. Next time, I will give wasabi a last chance and will try the bowls though they look full of white rice, I hope they have options for healthier rice types... Good side: usually clean spaces, fast, and wifi available. read more
