Painters With Integrity

If quality and integrity matter to you, avoid this company!…read more I hired this company to replace the overhang roof on my shed and install new shingles. After seeing a post online, I contacted them and Sam came out to give me a quote of $1,400. I paid half up front. A few weeks later, they removed the roof and replaced the plywood supports. I believed shingles would be installed, because that is what I requested in my original text. Instead, Sam used a cheap self-adhesive tar paper that was already buckling and exposing plywood on the same day it was installed. The cuts were jagged and uneven, and the material didn't even cover the full surface of the roof. To make things worse, he requested an additional $150 for materials--before I saw the work--and I mistakenly trusted him and paid via Venmo. When I confronted him with photos showing the poor workmanship and exposed wood, he defended the material, claiming it was "just as good" as shingles. He then sent someone out who made it worse by trimming the material back even further--and then blamed me for wanting the lines straight. I told him that I had asked for shingles. Sam then offered to fix it for an additional $500: $250 for labor, $250 for shingles. I told him I'd buy the shingles myself (they cost $100 at Home Depot) and would pay him $250 to install them--basically, to do the job I had already asked and paid for. He agreed, but when I tried to schedule the work, he completely ghosted me. When I told him I would leave a review if I didn't hear back, he then responded: "Go ahead and write your review." So here it is: This company cut corners, used substandard materials, and then refused to make things right. They showed no accountability and no integrity. If you're considering hiring them, my advice is don't--especially if you care about the quality of work or basic honesty. And never trust Sam and pay in full until you've thoroughly inspected the finished job.
