As soon as you enter, you fell the peace. A water feature is calming. The flowers and greenery are beautiful. In the summer, it's shady and cool. The park has tables and benches. It's a great spot to eat your lunch. Even better, grab a gelato form Gran Caffe L'Aquila and eat it in the park! It is generally clean. No bathrooms.

It's fairly clean, has a visitors center (for the city not only the park) and a nice fountain that you can go in if you're adventurous or a kid. We did not, but on a warm day like it was the idea was tempting. Love Park isn't a huge park by any means, but a good place to take a walk, enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and share the time with someone you love. Love wins.

It's not in that nice of an area, though, so I enjoyed the visit, but look forward to seeing what the next steps look like. Note, if driving there, you need to navigate to "Rail Park entrance" rather than just "Rail Park;" the latter is geographically accurate, but in a spot where there's no access to the park itself. Parking near the entrance is paid. Like the High Line, it's an opportunity to see that section of the city from a slightly elevated spot. There are some cool things to see here and there, and lots of space to sit, as well as some things for kids to play. Not a whole lot at the moment, though. It is quite clean.

It great to see the space being repurposed. They also use as much of the old materials as possible. Today I went on a tour/walk with We Walk Philly and a Rail Park guide. The tour was interesting and informative. The guide gave us a lot of information about the past use and the transformation. We also had the chance to see the tunnels that are in the next phase of transformation. The park is kept clean. Street parking is available nearby and it is convenient to public transportation. Bathrooms are not available. Restaurants/food shops are a 5-15 minute walk.

You can also drive through the park. Smith playground is a mansion with indoor activities and a big outdoor playground for kids. The best part about Smith playground is the giant wooden slide. The kids and adults can both go on the discovery center is in a former reservoir. It has walking trails and indoor activities to learn about the park. The horticultural center in Japanese teahouse are also located in the park. It's a great place to picnic!

Fairmount Park is also home to the Please Touch Museum and the Philadelphia Zoo, making it a great destination for families. I don't think the grass is great enough to really lay out on, but it's a nice spot to read or maybe eat an apple. There is a strange buzzing/frequency sound that reaches a high pitch and then abruptly stops. I think it's the insects in the trees plotting. But they don't bother you anyhow. Not really a place to visit, but nice to sit for a bit.

There was a large family who'd brought some tables and picnic food, and had set up a huge dinner- sort of like a backyard cookout for folks that, uh, don't have back yards? so I guess it's useful for that too.

Plus, it had been a while since I last took her to one. She is well behaved and trained but her being a year and 5 months old (still a baby) she still has energy and loves to play. So, I decided to look for one near the area. She doesn't really have a playmate and I know she can get bored at home with her 2 cat sisters who don't play much with her. I wanted her to have some fun and found this one while searching. She is a Boxer/Pitbull mix. There were 2 others there with their dogs who were playing and running around, but as soon as they saw me coming, they grabbed their dogs and left. I didn't even make it to the gate. No Biggy I just took her for a little 15 min walk and circled back and 2 more dogs where there, again playing and running around, so I took her back in and they also grabbed their dogs and left. She was so excited when she saw them, and the disappointed whining afterwards was just so sad, because of course, she wanted to play and ended up alone. I felt so bad, and she doesn't understand you know, I just couldn't help but assume that they discriminated her. I hope not but I do know it's an issue at times, even though I try not to think of it that way because it usually isn't most times. Like I said she's been to doggy parks before, and usually people are more interactive and nicer. We're all obviously dog lovers but I felt very unwelcomed. Definitely a little weird. Maybe it was an off day, I don't know, either way I don't know if I'll be going back there again. We'll see! Hopefully I can find her a doggy playmate one day.

I just realized I had never reviewed it, only to find out it had never been reviewed?? Odd. At any rate, I came here recently with some new friends to hear Valerie Simpson (of Ashford and Simpson) sing. Well, Valerie's still got the goods, y'all. She put on a mean performance! I noticed just how good the sound system is when I did a couple of Instagram snippets and the quality was crystal clear! There really isn't a bad seat in the house. I love how they allow you to bring in food as well as your own chairs, or you can just cop a squat right on the steps leading down to the stage. The concerts and shows put on here are generally free and thy have them regularly throughout the summertime. You can check the Delaware River Waterfront website to check out the calendar and see if anything tickles your fancy.

We love Hancock Park! It's a beautiful, well-maintained park with great amenities for all ages…read more It's always busy when we go over. I have a toddler, and we love the toddler area! There are baby swings, a slide, and other toddler-centric equipment, complemented by a springy turf underneath that cushions the inevitable trips and falls nicely. Up the steps, there's a playground for older kids with more swings and lots of fun stuff to climb! Finally, the other half of the park is devoted to basketball courts. They're very popular and I always sees teens and adults using the courts. Benches are scattered throughout, there are a couple of chess tables, and large stairs I like to sit on. It's a very family friendly spot and we're lucky to have it in our community.
