Zero stars. Their billing and customer service is a mess. Trying to switch from trash tags to a trash tote is not easy. They delivered a 2nd recycling container instead of the trash tote we wanted. And they have mailed us a supply of trash tags twice, which need to be mailed back. I did everything I could to make this easy for WM and it slid sideways anyways. read more

WM is a ~$21B company and doing quite well financially so an individual's business is insignificant, I get that. Despite attempts that spanned several days and being reassured that they'd pick up our missed trash, they have not. They cited that my trash barrel wasn't out on the day of the pickup which is a lie as I actually put it out the day before (no, the pickup days didn't change). Their voice recognition software is atrocious and their outsourced customer service offered no solutions. Go with WM at your own peril and we're going with their competitor and candidly, they couldn't care less about a single home owner's service. Pity!! read more

I know national companies could care less about the average joe but maybe this will save someone else the hassle of dealing with this pathetic company. April 2021 I rented a roll off dumpster for a residential property, the driver who delivered it joked about it being his first week on the job and asked for patience while being there. He backed the dumpster in and unloaded where I asked him to, and all was good. Fast forward to 2024; same property, same request for another dumpster in the same location. The driver they sent, late in the day, said it was impossible to unload where I needed it and put me down as a refusal of delivery. I spent over an hour and a half, passed off to 5 different people on the phone the next day trying to get another dumpster scheduled. I was also told that I was wrong telling them that I used their service before because they had no record of it in their system. I still have all confirmation emails and receipts from 2021 to prove otherwise. They assured me one would be delivered the next day however. The next morning, I receive a call telling me that no dumpster could be delivered, their most experienced driver said it could not be placed where i needed it and that I was still wrong about using their services before. As of now I am out $713.45 which they quickly charged me when I ordered the dumpster originally and still have no dumpster to clean out the property for settlement next week. read more

Reliable is not a word I would use to describe this company. It is not at all unusual for the drivers to skip your house. Or to reschedule your pickup and then not show up at all. I even had the driver claim it was unable to be picked up, when the cans were literally ON the edge of the street. I'm about ready to call and demand a rate reduction because if they can't be bothered to pick up the trash more than twice a month I shouldn't be paying but half the usual cost. we had missed our trash pick up last week due to my own fault so i put in for a missed pickup. WM drivers claim they picked it up the next day, which they did not. so i waited till the next day and called again so customer service put in for another pick up. friday came and my trash was still there so i called once again and was told it was too late in the day for them to make it back out. so yesterday was my pick up day. they never showed but put in the system that i was picked up, which it was not. i called yesterday and complained and was told they would be by the end of the day yesterday to pick it up. so today it was still there i called once again and was told they said they picked it up which was a lie. customer service put in for another ticket for a missed pick up and finally today the drivers came for my 2 weeks' worth of trash. when they showed up i walked to the bottom of the driveway to thank them for taking my trash and i was ignored by the driver. then i asked if he was the regular driver and he told me he was but not the other guy. to which i questioned why they said it was picked up when it was not and they told me that they were broken down. what a load of BULLSHIT! Would prefer to give them no stars. Skip trash collection on a regular basis. Have called and emailed multiple times. Received zero responses to emails and during calls they say that they will have someone pick up the trash the following business day but it never happens. At this point we don't even call anymore. Would be better off just not paying the bill since we do not receive a service. read more

I never thought that I would be reviewing the people that pick up my garbage recycling every week; but here it goes... Pickup Service: I have had Waste Management service at multiple addresses across the country. Each of them have been subpar experiences for one reason or another, but the service I am currently receiving in Harrisburg, PA may be the most frustrating. It genuinely seems like the people at Waste Management go out of their way not to do their job. I don't know if it is laziness, or just a general lack of willingness, either way when I have garbage inside of a bag, inside of my trash bin, I expect that it will be gone when I get home. When it is still present, it pisses me off. I pay money for your service. From not supplying a garbage bin or a recycling bin, all the way to having outrageously stringent rules and regulations I have to follow for curbside pickup of trash, yard debris, and other waste - I think it is ridiculous. I did not have this problem with PA Waste pickup, or the recycling pickup while I was at my address in Camp Hill. As long as it was in the garbage bin, they took it. They didn't refuse loose recycling bottles, cartons, or any other recyclable. Overall, they were a pleasure to work with. Every week with WM it seems like something is left behind for one reason or another. I know that they have rules and regulations to avoid the abuse of their customers; but it seems like they are maliciously hiding behind those same rules and regulations to abuse their customers. Almost as if the policies they put in place are intentionally meant to annoy people when the idea of trash pickup should be pretty cut and dry. I put garbage in a bag, in a bin, and you dispose of it. That is what I pay you to do and I do not understand why it is so difficult to do it. Pickup Service: 1 / 5 Professionalism: Every week my trash bins or recycling bin is laying on its side. Like they grab the bin, take (some of) the contents out, and then toss it on the ground in whatever manner they please. Yes, it is just a plastic bin, but show some respect for the bin that I HAVE TO PROVIDE. At the end of the day it is still MY PROPERTY. Yes, sometimes it is windy outside, and I can blatantly tell that my bins were blown over by a windy day; but that is not the case every week. Again, I just feel as if this is a respect-issue, a laziness-issue, or all the above. Professionalism: 1 / 5 Phone Service: I have spoken to WM reps on multiple occasions to set up, stop, or delay service. Each time has been a fine experience. They are typically efficient and mostly courteous. What I would expect. Phone Service: 3 / 5 Cost: For $22-ish dollars per month, I do not feel like I get a quality service. Unfortunately, I do not have an option in my area because my area is serviced solely my WM. If I did have a choice, it certainly would not be WM. Herein lies the problem. No competition allows them to provide crap service without repercussion. Cost: 2 / 5 Final Thoughts: This was a much longer review than I thought it would be. Ultimately, if I had a choice to use a different service provider, I whole-heartedly would. If you have a choice, I would avoid Waste Management. read more

If I could use negative stars, I would! Waste Management is nothing but a common thief! The hidden charges, lack of pick up because you have something beside the container (at least pick up the container idiots & leave what you're not willing to pick up!) ridiculous contracts, when you do follow the appropriate procedures to cancel, they charge you an ungodly amount to pick up containers, then still bill you after the cancelled date, after calling several times, emailing, and writing them they continue to charge you for time they did NOT supply service!! Have had nothing but problems. After place my garbage can at the curb backwards one time, I found "READ" in large blank sharpie and two arrows pointing to the "this side curb" lettering. Got it, aggressively helpful. We also put a totally shattered old tv in the can one time, assuming since the vacuum tube was already broken, should be ok. They dumped the can and shattered glass all over the entrance to our driveway. I'd much rather them have not taken any trash at all this week and an email explaining, it would've been my fault. Now it seems as passive aggressive punishment, I notice our recycling can in emptied and replaced directly in front of our driveway each week. All of my neighbors get replaced exactly in the same spot. I've called twice or emailed and never received any follow ups. read more
