We rented 3 paddle boards for the day. When I called they were very nice and were able to answer my questions. The website is easy to use and you pay half when you book and the other half when he drops off the boards. The boards were delivered on time and we had a blast. When we got back we called and he was right there to pick them up. Super easy company to work with. read more

Did an intro lesson with my group of 9 summer camp campers, ages 10-12. Water Monkey answered my many questions promptly beforehand and were all set up when we arrived. Cody did an awesome intro lesson on land and put the kids at ease immediately. He was kind and gentle as he corrected their little mistakes. By the end of the day, even the kids who had done SUP before felt like they improved today. On the water, he was patient, funny, laid back, and professional all at the same time. Love Water Monkey! Same as most of the other reviews here, we booked the introductory lesson and had a great time. Jason was our instructor and did a fantastic job. He was very knowledgeable and interactive with us. We saw plenty of wildlife and the amount of time paddle boarding was just right. I would definitely book with them again the next time we are down here. read more

If I could give zero stars i would. I received a gift certificate to Water Monkey from my coworkers. I am from New York but have a family home on St. Pete Beach. I started trying to book a reservation on Water Monkey's website in March 2018 for my family vaca with no luck. The website is NOT user friendly and I am an IT professional to put in perspective. I kept receiving an error message when trying to complete the reservation therefore I attempted to call the number listed on their website and got a random persons voicemail but not knowing, I left a voicemail expecting a returned phone call. This was not the case so I decided to email the owner of the company. My vacation came and went with no returned phone call or email. I didn't stress at that point because I was returning to the St. Pete area again in July (2018). After attempting repeatedly on their website I finally was able to complete the reservation. The board was supposed to be delivered @ 9am and was not delivered till about 10:15am on the scheduled delivery day but I was pleasantly surprised it was even delivered at all... At that point I thought the nightmare was over. The board was then picked up on time and I returned back to NY. About 4 days after the board was returned Water Monkey attempted to charge my credit card an additional amount of $94.50, I had already payed the rental amount in full at the time of booking. If my credit card company hadn't flagged this as unusual activity I would have probably not realized the charge. The company was by far the most difficult company I have every dealt with. Took a paddle board lesson with Water Monkey - my first time. I was able to stand up right away & didn't fall the entire time! After our group felt comfortable on the boards, Cody (our instructor) gave us a little tour around Clam Bayou. We were able to see the mangroves up close & get a real feel for the area. It was great - they did all the work & I learned to paddle board. Well worth it. read more

Three weeks ago I booked a 1-hour SUP rental online. I had tried calling to book the appointment, but the calls went to a voicemail for a woman, nothing in the voicemail message mentioned Water Monkey, which was confusing because I felt like I was calling the wrong number. I figured they just manage things online and are bad at answering the phone, not uncommon in this day and age. I received an email receipt after the booking, filled out an online safety waiver, chose a time slot, etc etc... seemed pretty legit. I called again before driving out to Ft De Soto, but there was still no answer. I really wanted to get out on the water that day so I took a chance that they would just be there despite not answering calls or emails the entire weekend. They weren't there. I got a call an hour after the booking time slot from a guy who wasn't even remotely apologetic, and just said that they must "confirm" the booking with you beforehand. Didn't offer to reschedule or make amends by offering a future discount or anything. I just now (three weeks later) got an email saying my booking was declined. This email should have arrived before I drove out to Ft De Soto, not 3 weeks later. The voicemail message should include this information as well (don't show up for booking if it wasn't confirmed) and emails and phone calls should be promptly returned, not left unanswered until hours/days later. Not a good way to run a business, especially one that involves people meeting you somewhere and putting aside a good portion of their day for your service. read more

St Pete and Water Monkey made a great day on the water. Cody is a great instructor. Neither my wife or I had ever paddle boarded. I have had both knees replaced and she just wasn't sure about this. With Codys coaching she was up and paddling and never did fall. Cody showed me a great shallow water way to step onto the board and i was up and going(several splash downs later) I was up and going. looking at our calendar now for the next outing. Will definitely call Water Monkey and Cody. read more

The intro standup paddle lesson was so much fun. We are 60+ and never did this before. The water wasn't rough and we could see the bottom most of the time. We saw skates,dolphin, crabs, shore birds and plenty of fish. Our instructor, Jason, was very patient and allowed us to decide how far out we wanted to go. It was the highlight of our trip read more

My husband and I booked the introductory course with Cody and had a great time. His instruction was clear and we both felt comfortable on the boards, with no one accidentally falling off.
