St. Pete Beach in December was absolutely perfect. Getting there early, when it was still "cold," was the way to go. The air was crisp, the light was beautiful, and for the first hour we almost had the entire beach to ourselves. Quiet, calm, and incredibly peaceful. As Mainers, this felt like the best kind of December treat. Cool enough to be comfortable, warm enough to remind you that winter doesn't have to mean snow and layers. Probably some of the softest sand I've felt in Florida with crystal clear water. Only downside is paying for parking but the rates are cheaper if you stay a full day. There is a public restroom located right off the main parking lot and two open showers for dusting and cleaning that sand and saltwater off. There are paid umbrellas and chairs if you don't want to bring your own. The water was mid 70s in April when we went and was warm and refreshing to be in. read more

This beach is a great low key option if you want a real beach that's not overcrowded. There is a designated parking lot where you can pay $4 per hour to enjoy the beach. All you have to do is pay at the kiosk and enter your plate number. You're not required to display anything in your car. The beach is just a short walk from there. Sand is pretty clean. There are cabanas and chairs for rent, which was what we did, highly recommend doing that! The water was warm. Very soothing. Visited St. Pete Beach bc I wanted to hear the DJ at Postcard Inn. Postcard inn is older, but the Dj was awesome. This made the beach day great. It is a trek to the water and the sand is very thick here so hard to walk and to bring a wagon but it's def needed since the walk is far. We got a tip from a friend to park behind 7-11 and that was great and convenient for sure. There's a lit up cross walk so make sure to use that to cross the street. We headed for Postcard Inn To go to PCI bar which was outside in the back, and then went to the beach. Sunset was wonderful and I saw these big tiger fish swimming around. They are striped. I always love coming to St Pete beach! There's plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the water. There is a parking lot but when it is busy expect it to be full. Your other option is to park at one of the streets nearby but make sure it does allow parking as you do not want to be ticketed. Otherwise it is great, there are some hotels nearby but does not overwhelm the beach itself. Recommend coming here early if you want to avoid the rush in the afternoon especially on a nice warm day! read more

I have to agree with Fox E.'s review. St Pete is mostly Caucasian. Real Estate is tippy top in St Pete, it's super clean, high quality touristy, the economy is booming here. Unfortunately the beaches dunes/sand was all washed away in the Hurricane(s). Sand has been brought in, the dunes have been planted again, but it's going to take a while for them to recover. St Pete's beaches are flat, hard sand, very shallow waters, good for walking, excellent for children. Very nice if you like beaches in a posh downtown urban type setting with skyscrapers & city views from all view points. Extremely touristy. read more

I have read- it is home to TripAdvisor's No. 1 Beach in the U.S. in 2021 (Siesta key beach got this award in 2015, 2017 & 2020) but we visited there on 25-Apr-2023 and the water was not at all nice. Seagrass was floating and nobody was in the water... that's why its 3 star for me. otherwise beach was so stunning, with its soft white sand, green water, and laid-back vibe. The beaches are excellent for their soft, white sand, although the sand is different in various parts of the island. There are approximately four miles of white sand beaches, stretching from Upham Beach (north) to the south jetty of Pass-a-Grille Beach (south). When you hear people talk about "St. Pete Beach Access" this is often the beach access they're talking about. This beach access park is located in the middle of the island. It is owned and operated by Pinellas County. The City of St. Pete Beach is different than the City of St. Petersburg! The name of St. Pete Beach is "St. Pete Beach", not "St. Pete's Beach". The City of St. Pete Beach includes all Long Key Island, including Pass-a-Grill to the south and Upham Beach to the north. St. Pete Beach has three general sections: Upham Beach North Quiet and less touristy. Central St. Pete Beach Middle Most busy and most touristy. Pass-a-Grille Beach South Less busy and less touristy. The sand does not travel with you. Plenty of space, plenty of close parking. My kids loved this beach better than Clearwater. The chairs and umbrellas to rent were pretty expensive ($45), but it was worth it. Definitely will be back. read more

The St. Pete's Beach area is all about taking your money and all of it! If you plan on going here you either need to own or rent/lease a place directly on the water as the public beach access is very small. We were at the public beach parking access just before 10 A.M. and it was already full with cars waiting to park. Then across the street in the empty plaza A1 Towing was recklessly towing vehicles behind a secure area to hold them captive and then the flatbed tow truck would remove the vehicles from the captive holding lot to their impound lot on 2221 5th St. S in St. Petersburgh. When the first tow truck hooked onto the vehicles it was by ramming ramming their wheel lift bar on the back of the tow truck under the vehicle tires, they did not properly place the wheel lift arms around both sides of the tires. They rammed the wheel lift so they could quickly impound as many vehicles as they could and never even strapped them down. Then I over heard a beach goer trying to work with the tow truck driver at the lot but they wouldn't unhook their vehicle even after they offered to pay. In reality the tow truck driver just raised the price and relayed that to their dispatch. If you do make it onto the beach from the public access make sure you do not cross the imaginary line where the hotels are next to the public beach otherwise their security guards will kick you off and say its private so you have to go back to the skinny sliver of public beach that is overly crowded. Also if you decided to walk the beach and want to walk out to the road you have to do so at the public beach area as there is fencing all along the beach that meets up with every building so you cannot get through. They even have a couple roads that T off at the beach and they put tall fencing up all across where the pavement of the road ends. This fence is very tall and not able to be breached. The only way to get through is if you live there and have a code. This isn't the St. Pete's Beach that I knew 20+ years ago! read more

Love this area!! Stayed at an Airbnb for a month and it was amazing. Lots to do and the beach is beautiful

While this is a free county beach, the parking is paid (we used the ParkMobile app which ran about 2.75 an hour). We arrived at 10 am and it was no problem to park. The county has contracted with a business to rent chairs, umbrellas and cabanas for $30 a day. Tristan was the person stationed at the entrance to the beach and was very professional and welcoming. He gave us pro tips on the beach (there's a tiki bar right over there by the flag pole and while they don't have food, they have a great selection of beer, wine, and mixed drinks for $3-4) and also mentioned that since it was slow, we could migrate between umbrella and cabana. They also took card, cash, and Contactless payment. He also discounted for multiple days. The beach was clean, powdery white sand and is on the Gulf of Mexico. In December, when we were there, it was super quiet and uncrowded. There are PLENTY of open air beachfront food places within walking distance. We brought our towels, a small cooler and our beach bag and it felt SUPER convenient for less than $50 for a full day at the beach. read more

I was recently at St Pete Beach for a family trip; and I must say, it was a huge letdown. The beach area near the Postcard Inn On The Beach hotel was littered with trash, which really detracted from our experience. There were plastic cups with the name PCI (Postcard Inn) printed on them scattered everywhere, along with beer cans, small 2oz whiskey bottles, straws...etc. It was disheartening to see such a disregard for the environment. To make matters worse, the atmosphere was far from family-friendly. Loud music blared from different spots, and the presence of pot smokers, and foul language made it uncomfortable especially for my grandkids. We even saw three sheriff's vehicles drive by....yet they didn't stop to enforce any laws or beach etiquette, which was surprising and disappointing. After speaking with other beachgoers I was told, this was normal for weekends and holidays. Ultimately I had to take my grandkids away from the beach, which ruined what was supposed to be a fun vacation for them. I hope the hotel management at Post Card Inn On The Beach (PCI) addresses these issues as it has the potential to be a great destination if they can create a more respectful and clean environment for the nearby hotels and all beachgoers. read more

I've been here a few times, and came for the sunset the other day and it was just stunning. Only bad things are that it is definitely a more popular, touristy beach so it can get pretty packed, and if you want to rent umbrellas and chairs it's a lot spendier than other places, $45 for the whole day. But other than that it's just wonderful, there's a bunch of restaurants and bars that you can walk up to and hang out right off the sand, super convenient and fun area. read more

The beach is pretty, but others in the area are better overall. The parking is not free. Costs around $3 for 2 hours. You have to use an app to buy the parking or use the one machine on site. The walk to the beach from the parking is a bit of a hike, especially with chairs, towels, etc. Facilities are back by the parking, so a walk to the bathrooms as well. The water was pretty! But, if you have to travel here you have to pay the toll over the bridge, then another toll on the highway by the beach. Plus pay for the parking?! For nine years St. Pete Beach has been the Florida beach of choice for my family in the Spring. Usually the trips are for swim meets that my son participates in. Sometimes I can sneak in a trip in between and that was a recent treat. It's one of the nicest family friendly beaches in the country in my opinion. I typically park at North Shore Park. Plenty of space on non event days and it's FREE! It's directly off the beach and well maintained. So why a 5 stars? Because it has everything you could possibly ask for in a perfect beach. Gorgeous sunrises, clean water and beach, restrooms, volleyball, concerts and of course fishing. If there is a drawback it's lack of lifeguards in all areas. Parents supervise your children at all times. If you have been to St. Pete Beach you understand my excitement. If not I would recommend you plan a visit. Even during the Winter temps are wonderful. Quite possibly my favorite U.S. beach destination! St. Pete Beach has everything I love about getting away. Nice hotels, amazing sunset views, shopping, dining and fun night life. I've stayed at the Rumfish resort, Grand Plaza, Hotel Zamora and recently, the Don Cesar. All have their own, unique feel and nice amenities offered. There are endless views during a nice, long walk on the beach and great places for Happy Hour drinks, like 360° rooftop bar at the Hotel Zamora. I often think of walks on the beach here when I'm having a stressful day. I will definitely visit this beach again soon. read more

For St Pete's sake, when you're on the Gulf Coast you must check out the St Pete beaches. They're nothing short of amazing. Absolutely spectacular beaches in St. Petersburg Florida and some of the best beaches in the whole state. I don't love them as much as I love Sarasota's Siesta Key but I still absolutely love them and most of them are Public Access, and you can't ask for much more than that in the Flo Rida. These are indescribably gorgeous beaches and massive fancy hotels with dolphins on some of them - which I love - and they are almost exclusively caucasian, which is a shame, but you can't have everything. I look forward to the day when the St Pete crowd is more diverse... and the Gulf Coast in general. read more

Just as I left the heat in Texas it seemed to follow me to St. Pete's Beach. It was so hot... "how hot was it????" It was so hot my fat ass was sweltering and I smelled like bacon! The sand was white, the water was clear but warm and calm and DO NOT FEED THE SEAGULLS. Those vermits will not let up if you feed them once. It is so bad that city council had to pass an ordinance and believe me the locals will remind you. There is a parking fee and umbrellas and portable cabanas are available for a fee. People tend to themselves, and there weren't any obnoxious patrons invading your space. It's a bit of a drive from Orlando but probably one of the better beaches close by. read more

Beautiful beach. The line of crushed shells as you're entering the water is a bit painful but otherwise it was really nice. You can swim out to a sand bar and stand. When I read another review, it mentioned an app. I downloaded what I thought was the app and it only showed parking farther south by another beach. I ended up using google maps to find this beach, pulled in the parking lot, and paid using the machine. 4 hours of parking was $13. read more

Our timeshare is located right on St. Pete Beach and this is one of the nicest beaches we've seen in the entire state. Small grained, white sands here spell out heaven for your feet. This is a massive expanse of beach that stretches for miles and can be accessed from hundreds of spots. The beach is easily 100 yards in width as well in most places, giving each and every person visiting a large piece of beach to call their own during a visit. I'm a local and I love coming here! The beach is beautiful, clean, and is located next to three fun dive bars - Toasted Monkey, PCI Bar, and Jimmy B's. If you're 21+ it's a dream come true! Nothing better than a rum runner while soaking up the sun. Always remember if you're bringing alch make sure it's in plastic, no glass. There's only two downfalls - parking and crazy seagulls. Right near Postcard Inn they have public parking in a side lot for $20. A road or two over they have meters as well. Don't forget your quarters - a lot of meters on St. Pete Beach are still old school. I've parked in the lot and on the street. $20 might seem like a lot, but it'll cover you for the entire day. That way, you don't have to worry about your meter - unless you have the parking app (which is also a good option as well). As for the seagulls...keep your food CLOSE! I am not even kidding they will dive bomb and grab your sandwich/chip etc. I've seen it happen to others and it's happen to me too! read more

I'm making my way down the gulf coast to all the beaches one sunrise run at a time. I parked in the north part of St.Pete beach. The parking was plenty and meter didn't start until 8am (arrived at 6am). There were a few vagrants which made me a little uneasy at first (this parking is in the middle of tons of apartments). I was unimpressed by the beach because it was unkept and littered with hotels and beach chairs etc. I started enjoying my run more about 2 miles down when the hotels turned into beach houses and it felt more untouched. In fact right before 22nd street I made a mental note to move my car down to this part of island when I was done. 4 miles each way made for a nice 8 mile run. Then parked closer to 4th street and chilled for a few hours enjoying a very short trek from car to beach and minimal people. The cache of shells at 1st ave was the highlight of my run! read more

A beautiful beach and perfect for lunch ages. Very busy here on a Saturday afternoon so be prepared to wait for a parking spot in the lot across from Chick Fil A. They charge $2.25 an hour and you pay at the machines. You can beach chairs for only $5 a day. Unfortunately you can't position them near the water, only in the back. The beach sand is light colored, fine, and fairly clean. No seaweed spotted at all here. The water was a bit cold, but it is February. Walking into it was easy. DO NOT FEED THE SEAGULLS. I made the mistake of sharing a piece of croissant with a hungry little bird and an army of seagulls came swooping in from every direction. Remember that scene in The Birds where Tippi Hedren is sitting outside the school and behind her back all the birds are gathering? Yeah like that. Anytime a bag was opened they inched closer, making quite horrible noises. (Interesting factoid for film buffs. Hitch originally had a different ending planned where at the end they escape and go to SF and the closing shot is they approach the Golden Gate Bridge and see it is covered with birds. The studio panned it though). This beach is lovely with pure white sand and clear water. Great for swimming but no lifeguards at least in Feb. You can rent chairs and umbrellas. Bathrooms are a little dark and may be scary for kids. Treasure Island beach down the road has bathrooms with electric light. Protip: don't move your car because spaces fill quickly. Leave the car and walk or uber out to lunch. read more
