We had a very disappointing experience with Duck Creek Boat Club & Rentals in Afton, OK…read more We rented a tritoon for an 8-hour rental, picking it up at 10:00 a.m. During the entire day, we only operated the boat for about an hour. Almost immediately, we noticed the boat wasn't running properly. It struggled to pick up speed, would lose power intermittently, and then surge again. Since we were spending the day with family, we anchored in a cove for approximately four hours. Around 4:00 p.m., while heading back to Duck Creek, we hadn't even made it out to the main channel when the boat suddenly lost all power. My husband got into the water to inspect the motor and discovered the propeller was completely missing. Thankfully, we had family nearby with another boat who were able to tie up to us and keep us from drifting into the rocks while we waited for maintenance. Had they not been there, the situation could have resulted in significant damage to the boat or, more importantly, a dangerous situation for everyone on board. When the maintenance employee arrived, he said he would replace the propeller. We noticed the replacement was a composite (plastic) propeller rather than metal. He explained that they use composite propellers because they're less expensive to replace--about $400--and even commented that he "does this all the time." That statement was alarming. A propeller coming off should not be considered a routine occurrence on a rental boat. Given that the boat had performance issues from the moment we left the dock, we believe there may have been a pre-existing problem with the propeller or lower unit. Despite that, we were charged the full 8-hour rental plus an additional $400 for the missing propeller. We felt we were treated as though we had done something wrong, even though we barely operated the boat. There was no acknowledgment of the boat's performance issues or the safety risk we experienced. Instead of receiving any consideration for the breakdown, we were billed in full. We will not rent from Duck Creek Boat Club & Rentals again. If you're considering renting here, inspect the propeller carefully before leaving the dock and pay close attention to how the boat is performing. Our experience left us questioning both the maintenance of the equipment and how customers are treated when equipment fails.

Initially I believe then, but if you can go out, which they were, the water level doesn't go up and down so that does not make sense. There were probably a dozen people on the cruise. The captain, hostess and food service workers were very nice!! The boat doesn't go fast and we didn't go far. It was awesome seeing the boats that came up and honked at us and waved. This is quite an asset and could really be utilized but an hour and a half slow boat ride, selling us individual serve wine, either Jack Black or Fireball mini bottles. This boat was previously the CHEROKEE Queen. I don't like the name change. The seating was tables and not super comfy. The few food and drink offerings they had were interesting meaning slim pickings. The boat seemed clean except the overwhelming amount of spider webs. They were everywhere and especially on the tables. What could they do better? Serve meals, do mystery cruises where a mystery takes place and people have parts and you work together to solve it, do wine tasting uses, just give us more to do on board. It was fun and we enjoyed it but there isn't enough to bring us back.
