Balloon is spelled incorrectly. It's fun but once is enough. Too many people in such a small area. No ample secured parking.

At 10 pm the headliner came out - they were called the "Cherry Poppin' Daddies" out of Oregon somewhere. The name put us off a little (no- a lot). Their music was what I would call "suggestive" but their style could be classified as swing. This was not what a Saturday night crowd of several thousands wanted to hear. Not sure why Palatine chose them and not a rock band. Needless to say, a lot of people left during their performance. Now, the festival itself was great - Palatine festivals always get a great turn out. There were the regular information booths from insurers, politicians and window replacement companies. The food tents represented the best of Palatine - I had Pad Thai from Siri Thai and a hamburger from Heybeck's. Both were outstanding. Finally, the beer garden was packed. We set up chairs by the stage, but trans-versed the crowds to get beer several times. All I can say is there was no way to get to the beer tent easily. Oh, it was a straight shot. But there were so many people and the music was so loud, in many cases you had to push your way through. The craziest thing was the way they cordoned off the beer garden. The main entry was about a 30 foot long metal plank on the south of the area. There was one other entry point to the east. The porta- potties were set up to the northwest of the beer garden which I think makes sense. But, there was no entry between the two. In order to go from one section to the other, you had to leave the beer garden from either the south or the east, then walk all of the way around until you got there. It was not convenient. But, overall, it was a really good street fest which I will definitely go to again next years. My hope is that the people who put it together take these two points into consideration. If they corrected these, it would be a 5 star experience.

Very well organized, and plenty of parking. It looks like they've got a bigger budget for entertainment this year. They actually have Nelly playing (separate ticket fee)... tickets are on sale now. The restroom facilities are numerous, and very clean. Ride wristbands for kids and young adults are $30 (ride all day for free). Exhibit, Barnes, commercial, Barnes, and lots of animals in the petting areas. Early morning hours they have judging of farm animals and 4H craft. Cream puffs and eclairs are the big draw. Yum. If you're in the area, and looking for something to do this weekend, this is quite an event.

There are plenty of things to do from seen the different farm animals, to rides, to food. We've been going to the fair for at least 25 years and we always make it a point to do a little bit of everything. We had to try some of the dairy products including shakes and of course the cream puffs. They were delicious! The dairy building also has a display showing the process of going from cow to cream puff. One of the new attractions this year is the America 250 Wheel. It gives you a great view of the fair and surrounding areas. Another can't miss attraction is the pig races. Young and old alike have a great time cheering on their favorite pigs during the race. There is always something to do at the Wisconsin State Fair.

In all fairness, we only had 2-3 hours to spend there with a stroller sized kid so context matters. That said, this fair was much smaller. We definitely ate and visited the animal barns. It looked t like they had a 4H building as well but we didn't get to that. The food was similar. We shared a number of dishes including cheese curds, egg rolls, fresh fries, and, of course, their signature cream puff from the dairy building. They had some nice craft beers and I loved my Sheboygan brat! I liked that many of the bars had live music to enjoy. Overall, it was a great place to get some fun fair food and listen to music but I can't see spending anywhere near the time I spend at MN's State Fair.

I've never in my life left a Wisco fest after 40 minutes and been actively pissed off, but congrats to you Chocolate Fest for coming in well below my low expectations. Have you been to State Fair? Imagine that, but with all the good parts left out. Basically, it's the super sketchy Midway area, with the kind of people who hang out there. You have to pay to get in which is a joke considering there is literally nothing to see or do whatsoever. Parking is in a muddy field and is $5. If you're smart (we weren't) you'll take one of the local businesses up on their $5 parking which includes 2 beers. Once inside, you'll enjoy exactly no local food providers except LD's BBQ which is the one and only redeeming thing here. Where are the brats? The roasted corn? If you want funnel cakes or deep fried cookie dough, yeah they've got that. ONE beer stand. Located on the opposite end of the site from the portajohns (there appeared to be ~20 in total). What? There's an "expo tent" which consists of 12 moms pushing their MLM Lularoe crap. So, anyway - it's called Chocolate Fest. So about that - there's the "chocolate experience" tent which involves maybe 10 places selling stuff. Ohhhhhkkaay. Or you can buy the same Nestle garbage that's available at any Walgreens for twice the price. How does this shitfest stay in business year after year? And for 3 days, no less? Everyone involved with this travesty in any way should be ashamed of themselves for desecrating the concept of a WI festival.

The Chocolate tent was small and though there were some good samples, I felt we didn't a good bargain paying the extra money for the samples. The petting zoo was fun and there were plenty of other food options and things to see and do. I just wish the name was different so you wouldn't have a different Idea in your mind when coming. You imagine Chocolate fountains everywhere and booths creatively using chocolate for different dishes and products and it just falls flat in that regard. However, it was relatively cheap to get in, parking options are ample and many closer to the venue give you free drinks as incentive to park there. We actually found free street parking a block or two away so that was even better. All in all we had a good time and would definitely return next year!
