Lots of people running, kids playing and dogs walking. My favorite thing I found a bench dedicated to their sweet dog Savanna. And they offer doggy poop bags. Encouraging a nice clean park. Nice easy walk and if you time it right there are a lot of great places in that area to eat and a nice shopping area

The park regularly hosts free concerts and community events, creating a fun atmosphere. There are two large, clean, and well-maintained restroom buildings, along with numerous picnic tables and a couple of grills, making it an excellent spot for a beach cookout or family gathering. Every time I've visited, there has been an ice cream truck parked nearby, and on other occasions I've also seen food trucks offering additional options. There's a small but very nice playground for children, and a sandy boardwalk that leads out toward the beach with beautiful ocean views. One thing I really appreciated was how many restrooms are available throughout the park, so you're never far from one. I also noticed brand-new tennis courts and basketball hoops. The basketball courts are adjacent to the large parking lot, but the lot is so spacious that it never feels crowded. In fact, every time I've come here, there have been hundreds of parking spaces available, making parking incredibly easy. One especially thoughtful feature is the electronic sign at the park entrance, which tells you exactly how many parking spaces are available before you even drive in. Overall, Little Island Park is a clean, well-maintained beach park with excellent facilities, beautiful scenery, and plenty to do, making it one of the best beach parks in the area.

It's not really a parking lot, but a small area in the grass. It's in front of the Military Aviation Museum. It doesn't cost anything to enter the dinosaur park, which is great. We got out a there were several different dinosaur displays. We took advantage of this kid friendly freebie and took lots of pics. The grounds weren't really taken care of. So it was grass and weeds growing around some of the displays. Now that it's cold I'm fine, but if it were summer I'd be terrified of seeing a snake, because there are bushes everywhere. So hopefully during warmer seasons they maintain the area a little better. But I still enjoyed it. There's also a pond also, which was nice!! Just a quick fun little adventure!! Check them out!!

When the mills closed around World War II, the land was sold to developers. The land was donated to the state and became the park. The pond has a unique ecosystem. Some artifacts from the old mill are displayed in the visitor center. The exhibits cover the history of the area and the wildlife there. Who knew that alligators are this far north? You will also find beavers, otters, bobcats, birds and fish.

Welcome to Duck Town Park and Boardwalk in lovely Duck, NC. It's a real family and entertainment destination with an amphitheater, picnic shelter, and playground. Without question, the boardwalk and piers are the centerpiece of the property, measuring over 4,000 feet long and ten feet wide. You can take some beautiful photos of the boardwalk hovering over the water or silhouetted against the sky. The scenery along the boardwalk is gorgeous with pretty views of the Sound, sand dunes, fallen trees, and seagrass. We saw plenty of people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and simply strolling along the boardwalk or ducking into stores, bars, and restaurants, or relaxing on one of the twenty-one benches. They have taken good care of the park over the years and have improved on the entire area. Plenty of parking to the left as soon as you enter the park. The Office is close to the entrance next to the lake. They have a nice area for fishing. You just need to bring n active fresh water fishing license. They also post when they have stocked the lake last. I love that for only $10 an hour you can rent a canoe. They have lots of life jackets of all sizes and plenty of different paddles. For us this was perfect. At a nice leisurely pace it took us an hour and a half to paddle the entire water way. We had a great time and will definitely go and do this again. The water way is peaceful with plenty of shade. My favorite part of the water trail is that you get to go under a couple of beautiful bridges. They also offer kayaks and paddles for those. The best part is that they have a boat launch area. You stay perfectly dry getting in and out. They have hiking trails. The one thing is that they could mark their trails better. We found that they did not mark the water way trail either. But it certainly makes it an adventure. We had someone tell us to look on our google map on our phone to find out our location. You can pick up a paper map but you can still get lost. It is helpful if you have google map or hiking map app. They have a nice small mini golf area. Very well kept and clean. We did not play but there were plenty of people playing the mini golf. Camping area is nice. They have a kids playground in the camping area. They have water and electrical hook ups for RV's. They have Cabin's with heat and AC. You can also take a tent and hammocks . Wide variety of camping in this area and it is very well kept.
