It's a great spot to enjoy the weather, the ocean, but mostly.. for people-watching. The beach was also surprisingly clean in spite of the huge crowd on a random mid-August weekend. Grandma Hilly tells me that if you walk down a little, there's also a nude beach.

But, I do like this beach better than it's next door neighbor Zandvoort. Bloemendaal aan Zee is nicer because there is much more room on the sand to spread out. It is not all covered by chairs that are owned the the cafés that you have to pay to sit in. I find that there are more Dutch people and less tourists here. Also, Bloemendaal has a lot of the popular beach clubs so when you are on the beach you can hear the music from the clubs. Just sit in front of whichever club you like the music best from. If you walk a bit further down, you also have wide open beach, no clubs, stores, cafés, chairs, or umbrellas, this can also be nice as well depending what you are in the mood for. Lastly, you have much better looking people at this beach than Zandvoort. Instead of fat tourists, grandpa in a speedo, or kinds running around wildly, you see more of a young adult crowd here.

Not a bad place to stop and relax for some food and drinks, the prices are quite reasonable…read moreconsidering the location and the food is quick. The place is very family friendly and perfect if you have kids or pets with you. The downside is the 50 cent charge to use the restroom after your meal... so save some change otherwise you will have to hold it until you get home...

It's midsummer here and the Dutch are ready to relax and get some rays. Me, too! Hey... 75 degrees. This scruffy, comfy, fully functional beach club is a physical manifestation of the word "chill." The beach distance to the water is some 500 yards. All sand. To the left, a major waterway for huge ships, and four lighthouses in view. Everyone is smiling... the customers, the wait staff, the kids. Micro brews on tap along with wines and spirits. Lots of good beach fare, from banana pancakes to Thai curry, but the shining star that is on nearly everyone's table: bitterballen! These blazing hot fried snacks can be scrumptious and this club makes great ones. Yes, the tomato risotto balls are yummy but the Oma Bobs are essential... served with horseradish and grainy mustard combo sauce so good that I could eat it with a spoon.

Een mooi strand dat nog niet zo gestoord druk is als Bloemendaal of Zandvoort, maar wel met een geweldige strandtent/paviljoen. Voor de mensen die Woodstock leuk vinden in Bloemendaal, maar willen kunnen parkeren en niet willen vechten voor aandacht van het personeel: TIMBOEKTOE! Het oogt bij het binnenkomen een beetje rommelig, maar als je 5 minuten ligt dan voel je de rust die er is. En dan de menu kaart... Heel erg veel is biologisch en komt van de Lindenhof in Breukelen (TOP, TOP, TOP!). Dus moet mijn mening bijstellen: je kunt wel fatsoenlijk eten in strand paviljoens. En de prijs? Nou die is helemaal niet verkeerd. 7,50 voor biologische kalfskroketten met boerenbrood is zeker niet duur. En 2,20 voor een biertje is zelfs goedkoop als je lekker op je bedje ligt! Scheveningen is a beach resort in the Netherlands, easily reached by tram from the central train…read morestation in the Hague. There is a long clean beach where you can sunbathe, or the more adventurous can try out some of the watersports on offer. Also for the adventurous there is bungee jumping from the tower on the end of the pier. Behind the beach there is a Sea Life centre that is supposed to be good, although I haven't been there. There are lots of cafes and restaurants on the streets behind the beach, as well as quite a few nice ice cream shops. It is quite a touristy place but it's still a nice place to visit. If you are visiting Scheveningen over New Year then you can take part in the Nieuwjaarsduik (New Years Dive) on New Years Day , when there is a swim in the North Sea. In the summer there are weekly fireworks displays.
