Great food. Wait time is short and prices are reasonable. Want to try the pizza next.

Beautiful decor, fresh flowers & friendly staff. The chips & salsa were fresh and delicious. The salsa had a different flavor. I'm not a chef. But it reminded me a little of adobo (maybe)? Whatever it was we all really enjoyed it. The guac was creamy and limey. Most of us got combination plates. I got the 2 items: a cheese enchilada with the carne asada taco (it's a bit of an up charge & it was definitely worth it!) the asada was so delicious! Chewy and flavorful. The enchilada sauce was perfect too. My husband's combo plate, was similar but he got 3 items, including a pork tamale. He said it was great. Other things of note: the beans were good & not runny, according to others as I don't eat beans. Rice - so good, my kid ate an entire side of it. Loved the rice. Chili verde - incredible accounting to my MIL Daily lunch specials were repriced very reasonably & there's several options.

Food was excellent, after a couple of tweaks for us vegans!…read more The veggie burrito (without crema and cheese) is so delicious! It tastes like the best seasoned fajitas but wrapped up in a tortilla. The veggie comes in a spinach tortilla, which makes you feel like you are eating so healthy too! They have amazing hot sauces. We could only have 2/3 because one has crema, but wow they were delicious. The red salsa they serve with their chips (which were fresh as can be the two times we ate here in the past month) was scrumptious. It is clear that someone in the kitchen cares enough to cook with great spices, and to make sure things are done incredibly - not overcooked, not undercooked, not overseasoned, not underseasoned. The food is amazingly flavorful. The person who helped us was incredibly kind. We were greeted with a smile and she seemed to really enjoy meeting our needs. That was really refreshing in a world where everyone seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere else. It led to a great experience. The place itself is definitely not fancy. There's a little patio out back that is cute. We ate at a table directly in front of the window. We now make this a destination when we are hanging out along the Monterey Bay as it is truly one of the best spots for a quick bite of Mexican food that is super flavorful!

AI (so it sounds EpiC!!!!!!!!) says: "San Marco Taqueria in Capitola is a pretty popular spot, known for its solid Mexican food, and their breakfast burrito is definitely a crowd favorite! If I remember right, their breakfast burritos are loaded with a good mix of eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, and cheese, all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. They've got that perfect balance of hearty and comforting--plus, their salsa is pretty legit! Have you been there before or just heard good things about their breakfast burrito?" The breakfast burrito was hot. (temperature-wise) It was filled with plenty of fillings, but potatoes and eggs only go so far. The winning solution was the salsa in the ketchup squeeze bottle looking things at the window. Unfortunately, I ran low on that stuff not even half way consuming the burrito. Fortunately, the burrito was a decent size. Win some, lose some. Got a chorizo breakfast burrito and wasn't overwhelmed by the meat content. Sort of wanted that to happen. Nice outdoor seating with a window to the outside, probably for serving customers who didn't want a roof. Bowls of water (a couple, at least) for the dog were found outside. Don't forget the salsa. (That's your flavor...everything else...meh...)

The carne asada tacos are equally impressive: perfectly grilled, bold, and satisfying in every bite. We dined on the patio on a beautiful Capitol day. What really sets this place apart, though, are the homemade tortillas--hands down some of the best you'll find anywhere. Warm, soft, and flavorful, they elevate every taco and make the whole meal feel special and authentically homemade. Service is quick and friendly. The rice and beans are delicious and comforting, clearly made with care, and round out the plate perfectly. Generous portions, amazing flavors, and those unforgettable tortillas make San Marcos a must-visit. If you love real-deal Mexican food, this place does not disappoint

We enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next day and met some of the sweetest servers. Fast forward a year later, and we were a little disappointed to see that the carne asada plate and oysters had been removed from the menu. That said, after trying some of their current dishes, we were happy to find that the food was still just as delicious, even if it was a bit different from what we remembered. The only downside for me was the fish tacos. I remember loving them the first time around, but this visit they tasted a bit fishier than I expected and were slightly overcooked. A special shoutout to the young gentleman working this Wednesday afternoon! He was incredibly patient, seemed to be handling just about everything on his own, and maintained such a positive attitude the entire time. As for the food, everything else was very yummy, and the complimentary chips and salsa alone deserve five stars. My hubby really enjoyed his meal, and despite a couple of small disappointments, we're excited to come back and try more of the menu.
