I've been to Los Gordos many times when I visit family in Aptos, and it's always on the Must Go list! My family goes regularly and it's easy to see why. The helpings are generous and delicious! This time I ordered to go and got the veggie super burrito. It came with a side of chips, and when I picked up my food, I was able to get my own salsa from their salsa bar that is well stocked with lidded to go containers. I'd give Los Gordos 3 1/2 stars! Food: I can only comment on the burritos and salsa, and they were both delicious! Portion for the Jumbo Burrito was huge, like a small baby! Haha. It was worth the extra buck to get guacamole and sour cream and a few cents extra for lettuce. It was so big, I saved some for another meal. I also like that you get a basket of chips (a wimpy portion, but you can ask for a refill if you're there with more than 1 person), and there is a small salsa bar. Price: Decent. Burritos, as an example, are about $10-12. Atmosphere/Space: The only "ding" is the restaurant is an order-at-the-counter place with a pretty hands-off service approach. We cleaned our own table, got our own utensils, etc. You walk in and out without anyone acknowledging. Cleanliness is average/could've been better. I was disappointed on this place BUT we only ordered 2 bean and cheese burritos with refried beans. The beans were dry and needed to be cooked more. If you are a taqueria, the beans should be tasty and cooked all the way. Also the chips were odd, not good. I wanted to like it but didnt. Stopped by here tonight craving tacos. My friend had recommended that I come here, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the carne asada taco for around $3. It was very bland and the meat was chewy and dry. The salsa that came on it tasted weird and wasn't spicy and didn't have any flavor whatsoever. Their salsa bar is also lacking. They only have pico de gallo and one type of mild salsa. As for the interior, it is small and clean. There are not a ton of tables, but it wasn't that crowded when I went. The customer service was very nice and helpful. Overall, their customer service is good, but the food is not that great. There are much better taquerias in the area, so I'd skip this one and go somewhere else. read more

I bought six veggie tacos for us thinking the $5.50/ea. would be worth it because who would charges that much for a bean taco unless it was a great taco! I opened the to go container and thought maybe they made a salad and got my order wrong. What I received was a pound of shredded iceberg lettuce, too much sour cream, a little guac, and about 10 beans and a tiny bit of rice. It was impossible to pick it up and eat it and who wants to eat shredded iceberg with sour cream anyways. I am actually quite upset that I feel I threw $35.00 down the toilet on lettuce and cream. Had to dump them on a plate and eat with a fork, but I could barely eat 1. All of that after spending $5.50 for each taco. Everything about this on the menu is wrong. Pollo asado, enough said? I have had it in tacos and then recently in an enchilada. It's the perfect blend of spice and flavor. They do a solid rice and beans for the kids which shouldn't be hard to mess up (but, I have had it.) my husband enjoys their veggie burrito which he has had soapy versions at other spots and this one is never soggy. The tortillas were good and the beans and rice were good. The other folks with me had nachos and burritos. They reported the food was good and made well. I'd probably go back if I lived close. Al pastor is excellent here and the salsa bar was super fresh, with stainless steel cups (to avoid using plastic!) free warm chips, got the guacamole and it was super good and really fresh tasting and the food came out super fast even though they were busy. They get one star because I have no choice. Their prices are high and their portions are small. Their BBQ Chicken Super Burrito gave me a stomach ache so I decided to try them again today to see if their Asada Jumbo Burrito was better. The so called Jumbo Burrito is not jumbo. They fold the tortilla to try to trick you but it was still smaller than a regular burrito. DO NOT ORDER THAT ONE. Just get a veggie if you want lettuce because they barely put any meat. The so called Jumbo Burrito which is over $11 was smaller than the Super Burrito I had two days ago. They pretty much folded the Tortilla in half to try to trick you and to take up space but the ingredients were still so little that it was pretty much no bigger than a soft taco or Quesadilla. I unwrapped it and cut out the extra tortilla that they folded over to try to take up space and when I rewrapped it the size was so small that I could easily hold it with two fingers to eat it. The super burrito the other day took me two different meals to finish it. This Jumbo burrito was easily finished in no time and I was still hungry. The lack of meat made me feel like it was a lettuce, bean and rice burrito. They also hardly put any guacamole, sour cream and cheese which is what you pay the extra couple bucks for. The cooks looked at me angrily when I cut out the tortilla. Sorry but I didn't order a jumbo Tortilla stuffed burrito. How much are they really saving by skimping like that? Nothing about that burrito was worth paying for. I will never order from there again. The cashiers are always nice so I am at least glad I tipped them but I do understand why hardly anyone was there. There is a taco truck in Soquel that is very affordable. There are also two Mexican restaurants nearby that are always busy and consistently good. I just wanted to try something different. Also, when the guys were packing to go chips for later one of them was using his hands without gloves. Only the girls seemed to wear gloves when preparing stuff. Like most places in this county, they get a lot of customers and due to that the service goes down while prices go up.
