We decided to go with the 2 hour rental and were happy that we did. The 1 hour rental would not have been enough time given the massive size of the lake. My only critique is to train the young high school boys a little bit about customer service. They were very rude while assisting us with getting on and off the jet skis and looked like it was a pain to be helping us. On the other hand, the high school girl checking us in and out was great!

Well I come from a family that doesn't go camping or does many outdoorsy things besides walking or biking. So I decided, why not take everyone kayaking to see how it goes. The price for a the kayaking rental was affordable, but also they fit you and take care of you very well here. You're not really timed on the rental, its more of, "Hey let us know when you get to the pick up point and we will go pick you up." They are super friendly, and even launched my family and myself from the dock themselves. Of course, there is a safety video, life jackets, a map and kayaking accessories. But besides that, it was a great experience on the Mississippi. We brought food on the trip as well, so eating fried chicken on the Mississippi was great. I would go with Clear Waters Outfitting Co. again. The pick up was great, the driver was very sociable, and accommodating to our needs. Bottom line: Great place to rent from, and a great staff behind them.

This is the time to get them serviced so they are ready to go in the spring. I then called a shop in New Richmond, Wi. and was told to bring it right in which I did and it was fixed in 1 week. I would never call Hannays Marine again either for service or to purchase a new boat. If you've never been when it's frozen over I would highly recommend coming during their kite festival which also happens during the art shanty exhibits. If you show up to the kite festival on a whim, no worries, the park will have kites for sale. I would highly encourage coming with footwear that has good traction or added cat tracks to get secure grip on the ice.

Bill runs a great place and all the folks who work there are helpful, courteous, and just really good people. Howard's is a full service marina with boat slips, storage, fuel, boat rentals (pontoon and fishing), snacks, ice, and bathrooms. Many times we find ourselves just hanging out in our slip, boat watching, grabbing a pizza from their pizza oven, enjoying a cocktail, and watching the beautiful sunset. We absolutely enjoy our summers here on the lake and feel very fortunate that we get to do that at Howard's. Cheers to many more years to come.
