Overall we got to have fun on the lake but I will say these machines are a bit beat up and seem to need a tune up. As I would turn the machine would lose a lot of power and my partner ran out of gas with a hour left, so they didn't fill up both machines asine still had half a tank left. $600 deposit and make sure to take a good video of the machines. The process of receiving instruction was a little odd as a younger kid was giving us rules then a seemingly drunk older man in a truck kept talking over him who I assume is the owner? Ohmygoodness, not enough good to say!! My friend and I had never been paddle boarding, it was 95 deg out with 72% humidity and we were feeling adventurous. Did a quick google search and found this place. Gave a call and the voicemail said to leave a message and they would get back. Yeah right. Well, about 30 minutes later the phone rang! Learned that SUPs were first come first served, but mentioned we were headed to them in mound from Coon Rapids and it would kinda suck to drive that far. I asked what our chances were and they were sweet enough to make sure they didn't all disappear! The process is super easy, tou check in and then walk the few hundred feet to the beach. They bring the boards (or whatever you've rented) over to you and you're set! When you're done you just beach the items and they come grab them. Only down side is SUP is kinda hard for a newbie as the lake is clearly a play lake. Constantly rough from all the jet skiiers. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed a couple of nights in Minneapolis during a roadtrip and decided to jet ski during our stay. Neither of us jet skied before, so we ended up trying the first place we found - Bay Rentals just outside of Minneapolis. As is the case with any decent rental company, there is a safety deposit prior to usage. The deposit is $600 per machine, but you will be reimbursed fully as long as you do not cause any damage. Reservations are made over the phone and the details of the deposit are disclosed upfront. We were surprised to discover that the town of Mound resembles a beach town, and Bay Rentals chose the perfect location for their business. We were greeted by friendly staff upon arrival and treated with the utmost care. The safety and usage instructions were communicated clearly to us and we were asked several times if we had any questions. The experience itself was a blast; my boyfriend and I rented two jet skies for an hour and enjoyed every minute of it. Upon the end of our session, we were thanked genuinely by the staff and owner of the company. Overall, my friend and I had a pretty good experience. The jet skis were superb and the weather out was beautiful. We were debating doing the 1 or 2 hour rental. We decided to go with the 2 hour rental and were happy that we did. The 1 hour rental would not have been enough time given the massive size of the lake. My only critique is to train the young high school boys a little bit about customer service. They were very rude while assisting us with getting on and off the jet skis and looked like it was a pain to be helping us. Please learn from my mistake and do yourself a favor CHOOSE A DIFFERENT RENTAL BUSINESS. There are many on Lake Minnetonka. The owner of this place will try to steel your damage deposit. He requires you to sign a legal document with $400 damage deposite for each jetski (which is fair) BUT...then he looks for customers he feels are good targets to steel the deposit from. In our case, it was my wife on the documents and my wife who tried closing out the rental.They tried to tell her one was damaged. They put on a big show to try and convince you. They kept us there for an hour and a half past our rental time trying to work us over...didn't work. I filmed the whole production and got the owner and the workers to admit nothing was wrong on video. So after having to listen to a crazy old man trying to steal $800 for an hour and a half, not a great experience. read more

I've left messages for these yoyo's to rent three jet skis for 48 hours during the week. You'd think they'd be happy to do so since most rentals are weekends and weekday rentals are pure gravel to the bottom line. Not these guys. Left two messages and got no call backs. I ended up renting from Rent PWC. They're the same price, easy to work with, very attentive and dependable. They're number is 952-237-7920. They're about a mile from Bay Rentals. The funny thing is since no one would pickup the phone at Bay Rentals so I drove over there and arrived at 9AM. No one was there so I sat in my car and found Rent PWC online. I was on the phone with them when two workers showed up. Even though I'm in my car 15 feet from the front door (and the only car in the lot), they didn't even look at me. I left and went over to Rent PWC and here I am three days later and no word from Bay Rentals. Guess the business is really a hobby. I will never go back to Bay Rentals. read more

Had a great experience with these guys. They accommodated a relatively late notice reservation (24 hours in advance), were very thorough but chill, and when my kiddo got sore and fatigued half way into our 2 hr rental, they even refunded me for our unused hour. WARNING!!! Do not rent from this place. If ZERO stars were an option, it would be 0. The equipment was barely holding together. When we questioned the parts that were literally falling apart the owner put it back together with a zip tie. He was rude, erratic, irrational and unprofessional. He got more upset when we decided we didn't want to rent and wanted to cancel our reservation due to poor equipment maintenance and not feeling safe. He shouted to his employee "No refund" and pretty much told us that we would have to dispute it with our credit card company and said "I'll see you in court" and rode off on his mini scooter. Doesn't even deserve one star. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. Rude owner that yells at customers as does his employee. Overbooks his jet skis and tries to bargain with you to give them up, not with a refund but with paddle boards that we would have to wait for an hour to get. I asked him to write no damage on my receipt and he refused and threw my receipt at me and asked me what was wrong with us people. He then told us to get out of here. Our family has been renting from By Rentals every summer over the last 6 years and it has always been a pleasurable experience. We often rent for multiple days and have never had an issue! On a couple occasion, we've had minor dings and scratches that never resulted in extra charges. If you've been assessed any fees for damages, I'm certain there was a good reason. Listen, renting jet skis' isn't like renting a car. They are extremely powerful and potentially dangerous. Often attracts folks that wish they were attending the X Games. Any scrutiny directed by the owner/employees was likely well deserved. The machines they rent are top-notch and always-in good mechanical condition! Bay Rentals is by far the best place to rent jet skis on the best lake in Minnesota. Don't be scared off by a couple of negative reviews. This was my first time renting a Wave Runner on Lake Minnetonka (in fact my first visit to MN in the fall) and I have to say, Bay Rentals knocked it out of the park. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by friendly staff and the manager/owner, Ken, who was an absolute riot. The rental cost was very fair and the wave runner was REALLY nice, big engine, too. The staff made sure to completely go over all of the safety rules and how to operate the machine, stopping frequently to make sure I clearly understood and if I had any questions. They made sure we could safely get on and off the machine and taking that wave runner out on the lake was one of the highlights of my trip! So whether your visiting from out of town or a MN local, come check this place out. I'm grateful I found them and can't wait to come back. =D read more
