Sure, I've had a massage in Bali that costs all of $12, but spend ten times that at East Day Spa and the experience is elevated to perfection. From the first welcome accompanied by a cup of peppermint tea, to the calming music and beautifully appointment treatment rooms, everything is carefully thought about so you can spend time focussing on being relaxed. A massage here is exceptional, with the therapists obviously holding a high amount of training and experience. Sore legs? They'll spend more time on those when you tell them beforehand. A little knot in your left shoulder? Don't worry, they'll find it and gently knead it out. Don't worry about walking out feeling like an oil slick as they'll use hot towels to remove excess oil before giving you an oil-free face massage. This small attention to detail is what sets more expensive massages apart from cheaper alternatives. And it's not just massage they do well at East Day Spa. I've had facials and pedicures and every time I've walked away feeling relaxed and happy knowing I got exactly what I hoped for. In my eyes, that's money well spent.

Either way I was eager to get back to Tonic for an indulgent hour plus of beauty therapy. This included a facial with layer upon layer of succulent beauty treatment lotions, exfoliants, and more lotions. Also included is a scalp and shoulder massage now that's where you really drift off. This salon has won loads of awards and well deserved. The owners are hard working and their staff are absolutely lovely. The clinic has been purpose built so the rooms are designed for comfort. It's like I was transported to a Balinese spa for a little snippet of my day, I'll be back!

The service and skill at Tonic are immaculate -- I am not surprised by their rapport with numerous regular clients, myself included. Staff members never fail to make sure I am 110% happy with their services before I leave. Tonic always comes to the rescue when I am not feeling too happy about my skin, or when I am feeling bogged down by work during the week. I always leave feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and confident. The items they have on beautiful display at their entrance are also very hard to ignore. This one is a keeper! Highly recommended.

Spring Day Spa is located a bit out of the way (especially for a North Shorian) in the quiet suburb…read moreof St Heliers. It's a relatively small space but they've made the most of it with mani pedi stations downstairs and private therapy rooms upstairs. I don't normally book massages but I had been given a voucher to Spring Day Spa for my birthday and having read the reviews on Yelp, could not wait to use it. Taking Neera J's advice I booked a private room for a 60min massage. My therapist, Alex, was fantastic! I'm often hesitant to ask for deep tissue massages at days spas because most of the time, the pressure is too light but this was not the case here! I left feeling so relaxed - all the tension from my neck, back and shoulders had dissipated. I will most definitely be back! Highly recommend.

A friend recommended this place, the sister spa to East Day Spa (apparently), at a lower price point. The massage was incredible. My therapist was a sweet French woman who was a wonder. Sadly it sounds like she'll be moving on soon, but if you can get in before she leaves, don't hesitate!!! My back feels wonderful!!! The pedicure was also great. Not sure if it's a "thing" here in NZ, but they didn't have any nail driers. So don't do what I did and forget your flip flops and have to wear the cheap throwaways all the way home on the bus (fail). Here's what kept it from 5 star status - the setup is a bit bizarre. If you want a "private" massage it's an extra $20. Otherwise you're in what they call a "pod", where they draw curtains around the table and it's pretty private but there are some pretty significant gaps. Awkward when you're stripping down to your skivvies for the massage. I was able to completely relax once I was in massage mode, but a bit weird because you can hear people chatting right next to you getting their nails done. If that's going to be a problem, splurge for the private space. More of a problem was the smell of nail polish while you're breathing deep into your massage. Icky. They need a bit better ventilation or something. Or keep the spaces separate. That said, as others have commented, the ambiance is nice and chilled out and the music was pretty perfect. I'd go back, and maybe splurge for the private, fume free space.

Don't waste your money or time…read more My fiancé and I treated ourselves to a "upmarket" spa package to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Hands down this was the worst massage and spa treatment either of us has ever had. The spa is cluttered and doesn't feel clean. The treatment rooms were cold and damp, the ladies had to turn on a heater and place extra towels over us to keep us warm. Our 1 hour massage was the worst we have ever had. On several occasions the masseuse put far too much pressure over bones or joints causing pain. None of our muscular tension was relieved and we felt more tense after. We wanting to leave even prior to our 1 hour facial. The facial that followed was as bad if not worse. The products were cheap, heavily scented and left the skin feeling irritated and heavy. Very disappointing considering this cost us over $400 and we left feeling more stiff and sore and less relaxed.

I rang the bell on the intercom and the woman said that she was opening the door. The sliding doors did not open. I called back and she asked me if I was on the side of the Chinese restaurant and I said yes and the doors still weren't working. Anyway I got in (as someone used their key to enter and I followed). Once upstairs I found out that the appointment I made the night before was not in their system. At first I thought to myself, perhaps it wasn't meant for me to go there however the young woman at the desk was so pleasant and she went to seek advice (I guess). In the meantime I messaged the person that I was messaging back-and-forth last night and they offered me to sit in the sauna prior to the service as they would be able to honor my appointment just at a little later time. I must say the young woman who I did not get her name, but she was from France, did a spectacular job! I had a two hour massage and I wish I could've laid there for another two hours. I had requested a foot reflexology and wish that could've been a little longer however I will definitely go back when back in Auckland.

When the words waxing and fantastic are in the same sentence then you have to check it out. I was really impressed with the place, the lady who owns it is really softly spoken, very nice. I think they are all Koreans, every time I have been each beauty therapist has been professional and really lovely. I have been for microdermabrasion several times here and I must admit it is 45 minutes of bliss. Not only do your pores get unclogged you also get a neck and shoulder massage. The body exfoliation is something every woman must treat herself to. Being scrubbed with salt and fully exfoliated feels amazing, the therapists have magic hands. When you purchase multiple services there is usually a discount of 20% and there is an email letter sign up so they let you know of any other promotions. Fantastic service and nice rooms with dim lighting so you really do feel relaxed. Such a great location too, I highly recommend coming here for beauty treatments, they also have a rather extensive menu.
