Communication was one of our biggest concerns. We were initially told that our child was not a good fit for the program. Later, we were told that the facility was not equipped to provide services for our child due to their age. Despite this, we were also told that an additional hour of therapy would be added to our child's schedule each day following that conversation, which was confusing and inconsistent. There was also very little consistency in the therapists working with our child. We rarely had the same therapist, which was particularly concerning because children receiving these services often benefit significantly from consistency, routine, and familiar caregivers. We also experienced conflicting information regarding our child's progress. At pickup, we were sometimes told that our child had "a great day," while later receiving very different feedback from the director, including statements that our child was destructive and could not receive treatment at the facility. The significant difference between what we were told at pickup and what was communicated to us afterward made it difficult to understand our child's actual progress and needs. When we raised questions or concerns, we frequently felt as though we were being passed from one department or individual to another without receiving clear answers or meaningful follow-up. Another particularly concerning issue was being told that our child did not consent to therapy and therefore the facility could not help us. As a parent, that was extremely difficult to understand, particularly given the nature of the services being provided and the expectation that trained professionals would know how to work with children who may initially resist or have difficulty participating in therapy. Overall, our experience left us feeling that the services provided did not meet our expectations and that there was a significant disconnect between the care being provided, the communication with parents, and the information we received about our child's treatment. I strongly recommend that parents considering this location ask detailed questions about therapist consistency, age requirements, treatment capabilities, communication procedures, and how the facility handles children who have difficulty participating in therapy before enrolling.

I have been hoping to write a review on Freedom Within Therapy and Wellness Center for a long time…read morebut something inside has held me back. I've not made it a secret to friends and even on my YouTube channel that I have been undergoing therapy - as of now for around a year and a half for PTSD. I was very grateful that Freedom Within took me in when its schedules were full. In the past, I had been one to talk down therapies, though I've always had good relationships with the mental health professionals I often worked with when I was a military chaplain. That is, I thought it was good for others, but I was ok. However, over time I wasn't and it came my time to get the support I needed when my own resilience was falling apart. I did have some ideas of what to expect because I have worked in psych wards in the past, but there were some surprises along the way too. Having said that, Freedom Within offers a wide variety of support in the areas of trauma, anxiety, PTSD, grief support (including groups), among other counseling areas. For me personally, my therapist has been outstanding. The care and counseling support for this difficult time in my life has helped build be back up in many ways in things that used to come natural to me. It's good that I have been taught constructive ways to manage my condition to help better navigate a healthier path for me. It's progressing - but the exceptional work of my therapist has been right for me when I needed it most. Though I have been with the same therapist over the last year, I have still met most of the others having been a patient for a significant period of time. They are all highly professional, courteous, caring, make you feel welcome, and, on a basic level, just make you feel good. I don't know if Freedom Within is a best kept secret, but a recent renovation and expansion of the office area has brought added space and new offices, as well as new therapists on board. They are also certified by Tricare to receive military members, active and retired. I have greatly benefitted from this, and still do under VA care. Well, what I thought would be a difficult review to write wasn't too hard after all. I do hope readers will benefit from this write-up and mostly reach out for support from great organizations like this when they need specialized care of the nature that Freedom Within offers.
