Soundcheck Records has an impressive selection of CDs and, believe it or not, cassettes for those who appreciate a little nostalgia. Their new vinyl inventory is outstanding, with plenty of albums spanning a variety of genres and artists. When I stopped in, the used vinyl section was a bit limited because many of the records had sold quickly--which is usually a good sign. One look at the prices and it's easy to understand why. Their pricing is fair and collector-friendly, making it hard to leave empty-handed. Beyond the music, they also carry concert T-shirts, mugs, and other music-related merchandise. I was also happy to find a nice selection of discounted Record Store Day vinyl releases, which is always a treat for collectors. What really sets this shop apart are the owners. They're incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about music. If they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they're happy to special order it and even have it shipped directly to you. Jim Thorpe is full of unique shops, and Soundcheck Records is one of the best. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in--you never know what musical treasure you might discover.

I want to say, I don't collect records, I collect CDs, this was actually my first record purchase ever so I was nervous and desperate to get it. So I was grateful that when I called the Tuesday before that they informed me of the single copy of the record I wanted that they would have in stock (King James Version, Harvey Danger!). The day of I was late but lucky, as nobody had taken it yet, and when you were in line they had someone who would help find records for you. Yelp is insisting I say something about value, so I will say that this had an extremely fair price. This was a limited run collectors item and I know for a fact that they priced it well within the usual range for it sold throughout the states, even though they are a very small business is a very small town in the middle of PA. Not saying I expect small businesses to price gouge a little, but for this record and on this big record store day, I did expect to pay a premium and I got a very fair price. So these are honest people as well as helpful. Thank you!

When you walk in you have a mix of sports , comics and tv shows items. The guy who owns it is very nice and his prices are not crazy. I know because I visit allot of collector stores and some just kill the customers with jacked up prices. The owner is out going and actually shows interest in the customers needs. When I'm in the area again I will need to make a stop here again. So if your looking for supplies to help protect your cards and pop figures. Or your looking for some older cards or some old packs to open from your child hood. This is a good spot to stop of at.

Located in Mcadoo PA.... not in the South.... Also the confederates were on the wrong side. Anyways lots of comics. Store should be cleaned more. When looking through back issues fighting dust and cobwebs was harder that the struggle to get through the Flash movie.

Needless to say, from new arrival presses or old popular records, this store has a great record selection and left the store feeling satisfied. The lady at the counter, presumably the owner, was professional with her service and was very friendly and charming. The records consist of a large amount of new albums in shrink and used albums which were not in the best condition. Seemed like if I found something used that looked interesting the album itself needed to be cleaned. Good selection of reissues if that's what you need.

They said in order to return it I would need my receipt. When I was there I specifically asked the employee if it had any issues would returning it be a problem and he guaranteed the games should work. Lost the receipt and now stuck with a faulty game! Would still buy here but with extreme caution as it is one of the few if only retro game stores in the area. Person on the phone I felt was pretty rude, I didn't want a refund just an exchange and he gave me the usual you need the receipt run around and didn't even bother to hear me out! As a supervisor that wasn't exceptional or even remotely close to good customer service.

Parking is in front of the store and is accessible from several entrances as the multiple surrounding buildings have connected lots. The store is not very large and can be a bit of a tight fit. In terms of music items, I cannot comment as that's not my area. They are, however, a nice small comic book shop in an area that badly needed one. Hoffman's have a limited new pull selection. Wall book selection is fair to good with some nice books. Longboxes are well organized and there's a reasonable number of them. They also have cheap long boxes on the floor closer to the entrance with an interesting variety of books. Overall, it's exciting to see Hoffman's back, and they fill a need the area has.
