I have had some pretty bad bikini wax experiences recently. Painful, lop sided and messy. I had almost given up completely and was starting to accept a possible "Jumanji" situation in my future. I thought I'd give it one more go... I found Waxy through Yelp and I was hopeful from the reviews. So I went in for the Big Lebowski...the Brazilian! I braced myself for the agony but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. The owner, Kenia is very friendly and professional. I liked her right away. And the wax...? Completely painless and over in a flash. I'm really happy with the service and the results. So happy I signed up for the VIP package on my first visit...there will be no "Jumanji" on my future! I am astonished to see how many good reviews this place has (which was what prompted me to go here in the first place) because their microblading service with Kenia was horrendous and I think the photos speak for themselves on that. Super painful, like way more than it should have been (I've since had them redone, obviously, and it was like a night and day experience) and she argued with me on what shape suited my face "best", and ultimately I conceded because she was the professional, and ended up with these super flat, way too thick brows that are completely uneven from one side to the other. Huge gaps in between some of the "hairlines". Wish I would have gone with my gut and cut the appointment short when she was unwilling to compromise, as I'm someone with literally zero pigment to my brows and have therefore been drawing them on for ages, and know what looks good on my face and what doesn't. Still kicking myself for that one. Hopefully this review will help someone avoid the same issue. I will say though I've never been back or had any other services done so can't speak to the quality of those but the microblading was enough to turn me off the boutique altogether. read more

The owner (Kenia) called me the day of the appointment to confirm the location as people had been having trouble locating the salon (right next to the Brick). Kenia was easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable about her products and services, and I have to say it was one of the least painful waxing experiences I've ever had. I got Microblading done with Kenia and waxing with Kimmy. I have not yet met Amy. To start with the waxing, I give 5 stars for Kimmy for her amazing waxing skills and lovely conversation. She detected the status of my skin quickly and adjusted her technique, using the right type of wax for my particular skin. I appreciated that. Next, my microblading - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Ten stars! I knew I would be a difficult case because I hardly have eyebrow hair to work with at all. Kenia expertly did my brows and although I was so worried about how they would turn out, she took great care in working with me to make it right, she's a perfectionist. I fought her a lot on the shaping and she obliged as much as she could without bending the face mapping rules, but she knows what's she's talking about due to her not one but two certifications in microblading, and it turned out FABULOUS. I am so glad I went for it. It's an investment and a huge time saver everyday. If I want them to look even more striking like when I wear my glasses, or wear more eye makeup for a special night, I will fill them in and it's so much fun. It doesn't look so obvious and painted as it did before the microblading, and I never thought I could pull off dark strong brows because of that. I have been used to my blonde sparse brows for so long. I always heard that brows frame a face but I had felt this was an exaggeration for marketing or something - but it's 100% true. My face is different, I actually look different, it brings out my eyes, makes my eye colour pop and makes all my other features better. My look has improved. The change I feel is so drastic but natural that it's like I got the best plastic surgery, that's how much actual CHANGE in my face I see, just from the new framing due to the eyebrows. Bonus is that this will last up to 3 years so I can change it next time, go darker, and place them higher when my face sags. Cannot do that with permanent ones. So I am now a huge believer that yes eyebrows are the frame. You'd never ever see any artwork of value without a beautiful frame to complement it right? A beautiful painting isn't the same without a frame. Same with the face. Also my husband LOVES them, always says, wow you have eyebrows when you wake up now! Only thing I would say is it did hurt a bit more than expected, and I should have taken another Tylenol, probably didn't take enough :( Depending on your methylation (look it up) and pain tolerance you may need to adjust your pain relief. She will use a freezing agent though but I recommend taking Tylenol beforehand, don't go before your monthly, and don't have alcohol close to the appointment and follow all the instructions. My mistake was going to close to my monthly and not taking enough Tylenol, I do not drink at all. read more

First time coming here for a Brazilian wax. In used to hard wax Brazilians but at Waxy they use traditional strip wax. The clinic is quiet and appears relatively clean. It must be in an old medical clinic because the rooms look like ones in a doctors office. Kenia was very chatty which was a distraction, so that was good. At times she got so chatty that I was a bit nervous that she wasn't focused on the task. I could tell she was experienced because she was very quick. I appreciated that but it would have been nice if she was a bit more attentive to the task and applied pressure more. I did notice that she left all the used strips and dippers on the counter, right next to my shake tumbler, which I found very gross and unsanitary. She did not throw it out at the end of our session. So, I deduct one star for questionable hygiene and another 0.5 star for her technique. Unfortunately I can't give half stars so I will rate as a 3 star. I personally am going to return to Frilly Lily or find a sugaring boutique because for about $10 more, I can stick with a less painful technique and likely more pleasant ambiance. read more

So clearly I took advantage of that special. Kenia has always been very professional. She makes you feel very comfortable even when getting a wax "down there". The waxing is so quick, and really not as painful as other places I have gone. I would recommend taking an advil/tylenol about 20 mins before getting any wax done. She never double dips, which is very important, and as it is clean. She is nice to speak with. Her online booking system is very easy to use, as it tells you exactly when the next appointment available is, if the one you are searching for is not. I would highly recommend Kenia to anyone out there looking for a clean, friendly waxer, and her new location is so easy to get to - being in Chinook mall - and free parking! The studio is right in Chinook Centre so no problems with parking and I could go shopping after. The studio itself was bright, clean and welcoming. Kenia was lovely and we chatted away during the appointment and before I knew it she was done. The results were great and I would recommend her to anyone. Very disappointed. I had booked a full leg and bikini wax. Amy did a good job of the lower leg, but did not properly wax the upper legs and I ended up doing the upper legs myself after I got home. read more
