Don't do it. Bad care. Horrible owner. Ratios not maintained, child safety not insured. It's "affordable" for a reason.

The boss babe, Jen, she listened and took action anytime it was needed and did her best to make your requests made- EVEN THROUGH the hardest times of the pandemic. I was so sad to pull my son out of after only being there for 6 months because I REALLY loved how they loved and cared for my son. But he started to feel unsafe and would cry and fight going. When I asked why, he would tell me the name of one teacher who just made him feel unsafe. I came to learn that anytime my son had to be around Ms. Nevi that he would do what he could to leave the immediate area. I also noticed little things that she would say or do didn't always add up. I cherish the memories we have from Starbright and was really looking forward to my second baby going there- but I couldn't continue to keep my son in a place with a teacher that he would scream in discomfort about.

Even though she has been away for two years now, she often reminisces about the delicious lunches and the fun experiences she had there. One of the things we appreciated most was the low staff turnover; as she progressed through different classes, we were always greeted by familiar faces. The amazing director, Jen, was incredibly supportive and communicative, which eased any concerns we had as parents. Each teacher we encountered was kind, patient, and truly exceptional. We always looked forward to drop-off and pick-up times because the atmosphere was so warm and inviting. The gentle parenting sessions they offered laid a strong foundation for us at home and were also reflected in the classroom. Overall, every element of the program was thoughtfully designed and incredibly beneficial. We have recommended Starbright to friends over the years, and one of them is still enrolled! If we were to have more children, we would enroll them at Starbright without hesitation. We miss it so very much!

My daughter's partner was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given a prognosis of 6-12 months. He is currently on SSI disability since he can no longer work so his income is very limited, and asked about a free membership, and the answer was a flat no. Just policy over people. For an organization that claims to be community-focused, that response was shocking and unexpected. He is facing overwhelming physical, emotional, and financial stress. Something as simple as access to a supportive, healthy environment could make a meaningful difference--yet the Everett YMCA chose bureaucracy over basic human decency. If this is how you treat people at their most vulnerable, then all the talk about "healthy living," and "social responsibility" is just marketing fluff.

My son was 2.5 and my daughter was 6 months old. Since this was their first time in daycare, they inevitably got sick all the time! But this is to be expected anywhere. Discovery Childcare was clean, safe and well managed. Both kids loved attending. They were pretty good about updating the app and sending photos and activity reports. The staff was friendly, and went out of their way to make sure the kids were happy and healthy. When they were sick and had to stay home, they always asked me how the kids were doing. They have lots of toys and activities, and a fun outdoor area for recess. While they would benefit from a swing set / better play area, but my son loved going to preschool and would even ask to go on the weekends! My daughter felt safe there, and the staff treated her like their own. Often times I would walk in and the lobby would smell like fresh baked cookies. From the outside it may not look like much, but these are good people, and I highly recommend.

The Mandarin and Spanish immersion program is a nice idea. While the staff is a bit short, the kids are mostly exposed to Spanish, and I've noticed my children picking up parts of the language. They can follow instructions in Spanish, which is great. The director is friendly and clearly loves her work. The teachers are doing their best to create a supportive environment, and my kids have improved their language and social skills since starting. The cozy atmosphere and outdoor playtime twice a day are definite highlights. I also appreciate the flexible pickup and drop-off times, which is helpful for working parents. One area for improvement is the app used for sharing information with parents. I think consistency in accuracy in documenting updates could be better. Overall, I recommend World Kids for those looking for a nurturing preschool environment.
