We called to book, and Linda was so helpful and personable. We booked the King Suite (the largest) for $109 a night. We thought that was extremely fair. We got there after dark, retrieved our room key from the box, as directed, and was really pleased with how clean and comfortable the room was. There were very few guests, given the winter season. The office wasn't open either, but it was fine. It was quiet, and someone replaced towels and k-cups each day, and emptied the trash. The kureig, microwave, and fridge were very helpful. Note - the fridge was not tiny, it was about three feet tall. The tv and WiFi worked great, we both had to work from the room at different times, and had no problem on video calls. It was a quick walk to the BP for snacks, drinks, breakfast sandwiches (yum!), very convenient. There are two great restaurants open year round, joes friendly tavern and empire pizza. We would be very happy to stay here again and will recommend it to friends.

This raises a serious question: If the hotel does not honor Priceline's policies, why is it listed on Priceline? And why does Priceline allow a hotel that ignores its guarantees to remain on the platform? This feels like a failure on both sides and is very misleading to consumers. No advance warning .. the dock cleats are in need of replacement as are some power breakers. The seasonal boaters seemed to be less than happy about the arrival of transients to enjoy the resort. The grounds are beautiful and the setting idyllic. The lodge reminds you of the movie Dirty Dancing , but at times it also resembles a horror movie . The pool is small but nice , and there is a dog friendly beach on the lake side with a Lake Michigan beach a short walk away. The resort needs to maintain the dog run areas and stock the dog waste dispensers as they were all empty throughout the resort. A notice that the bar would be closed on a Saturday for a private event would have been nice . Also larger boats are put on the outside wall and there is not a no wake area around them . Locals come by within feet to view boats and not at a no wake speed, doesn't make more a comfortable mooring. They need a no wake zone around marina and restrooms for Marina guests hat are not a half a mile walk.... Though I was able to close my move ring on my watch just walking the dogs to their area and me to the restroom. They do have great pizza and cocktail menu looks great but private event and closure Sunday to Wednesday made us unable to sample the tantalizing drinks .

I am sure that the innkeepers are trying to do all that they can to preserve this hotel (originally built in 1904) but it is apparent that many millions of dollars are needed very soon to repair the structure before the decaying infrastructure ruins the hotel forever. With the downturn in the economy- I feel it's a struggle to keep quaint inns such as this open for business. I can only hope that in the age of big bailouts for corporations; the powers that be can find some aid money to save the Portage Point Inn. That being said- Portage Lake is certainly one of the most beautiful destinations in the North country of the USA. The serenity of the nearby woods, the spectacular sunsets and all of the tourist destinations in Manistee and Benzie counties are "what the doctor ordered" for a wonderful and memorable romantic vacation or a family getway.

Our welcome packet had everything we needed for the holiday weekend. She called for our escort and he showed up on a golf cart and even guided my husband onto the patio. Our 4 night stay turned into 10 day on multiple spot the facilities are great. It's central to Glen Arbor, the Dunes, traverse city and wineries on the peninsula. We will definitely be back and soon.

Sleep on a wooden platform that did have a lower grade mattress. Sticky floor. That first night there was a critter under the cabin that kept me awake. They found nothing, but did see evidence of digging. I asked for my money back for nights two and three, but the lady at the desk said that she could not control the critters. Stay night two and then we were out of there. Never going back, EVER!! Don't waste your money. $80/ night for a smelly, nasty cabin. Go anywhere else, but not here'.

The lake was gorgeous, with swimming, boating, and fishing available. The cabin also included a private dock, outdoor firepit, and 14' aluminum boat. We all had a great time; my husband and son fished to their hearts' content, and my daughter and I went into Traverse City, Interlochen, and Kalkaska to see the sites and visit family. We've stayed at Pine Ridge twice now, and plan to stay there every time we come north!

We went to Pyramid Point one afternoon and the sky opened up on us on the walk/run back to the car. We were drenched. We came back and asked her if she could toss some clothes/towels in the dryer for us and she did without complaint. It's something you're not paying for and she went above and beyond to accommodate us. Bonus points for that. We stayed in the Empire room. Definitely tiny, but cozy. Plenty enough space for a couple. Breakfast in the morning had many choices and was delicious. They've even got a barn you can park your car in. There's only a few spots and it's first come/first serve but that was another unexpected perk. The home is from the early 1900's if I remember correctly and it shows. Narrow steps, tons of sitting rooms. It's fun just to walk around inside and check the place out. Highly recommended!
