They also had a table and chairs right outside the door for some outdoor patio seating. I couldn't find any way to control the air conditioning, if the room even had any?, but we felt cool throughout the night anyways and slept well. Of course it's a little older but that's what you're gonna get in a small up north beach town. It got the job done for what we needed. It was within walking distance to town and we did not have any trouble parking on the property, right in front of our room. The women at the front desk was friendly when we checked in and provided us with the Wi-Fi password. The only real disturbance was a man parked next to us dumping opened cans of beer from his car, right next to our car and feet at 8am when we were leaving.. classy lol

We arrived, prior to check in, wet, cold and thirsty. Patty met us at the front desk and promptly brought us towels, water and coffee. Then had housekeeping do our rooms next so we could shower and put on dry clothes. We had planned to bike to Frankfort later for dinner but the weather had other plans. Rocks Landing (good food see my other review) is a restaurant across the street affiliated with the resort. Unfortunately they only took walk-ins on their outside, un-covered patio, there were no reservations indoors and it was still raining. Patty called the chef and arranged for their first ever take out order. We even got a bottle of wine and had a delicious, private gourmet dinner in front of the original stone fireplace in the lodge. Outstanding hospitality. I will bicycle and stay here again. Oh and they let us spot an overnight bag at the resort so we didn't have to carry our clothes and toiletries on the bikes.

We came back saturday night to stay, also had some other family stay in another cabin as well for the weekend. The owners Damon and Angela are real friendly, and want to make sure your stay is a good one. The cabins are old and may be a little creeky, but the insides are lean and updated with new bath fixtures, new kitchens with new cabinets, sink, counters, stove and fridge. They have been busy remodeling and cleaning them up. They are only 1/2 hour to sleeping bear, Traverse City, or Glen Arbor.They are on the Platte River, and Damon will drive you upstream, drop you off with tubes so you can cruise back to the cabins. There are firepits eveywhere for you to relax quietly, and even chat with neighbors or the owners if you like. There is your own private deck on the river you can sit and relax at, with a fiepit nearby. They told us some great places to go fishing. They have free wifi.
