Waylen Bay Has a great selection but getting customer service was less than par. Went in several times on my days off and not wearing the cleanest clothes and had to work at getting someone to assist me. The salesman was super nice but did not know the product line I was shopping and had to go back-and-forth with the sales manager who I asked if I could deal directly with because he did know the product. That did not happen. I reluctantly looked into another boat dealer, and it was ultimately super refreshing. My guess is, dress fancy and pull up in a nice vehicle if you want good service. If I could give zero stars, I would. Terrible customer service and an even worse attitude when it comes to customer care. We brought our boat in for a diagnosis, and without our permission, they tore the lower unit off--and then had the nerve to ask if we wanted to just throw it in the back of our truck when we came to pick it up. Horrible warranty service. Don't purchase from them. I purchased a Tahoe T16 last year and shortly after the depth finder stopped working/intermittently. I let my sales person know and said I would get it fixed when I brought it in for the 20 hour service. When I called for a service appointment I described in detail how the depth finder rarely worked above 5mph either showing dashes or outrageously deep depths. When I brought it in I again explained to the person at the desk what was wrong and it would need to be put in the water to troubleshoot properly. Apparently little was shared. After a week I called for a status since I had not received any updates. I was told it was ready come pick it up. When I got there the person checking me out asked for $350+ and no other status. So I said wait what did you do? He couldn't tell me. He has to get help. The next person said they did the 20 hour service but they found nothing wrong with the depth finder without any proper testing. They tried to get my money and send me out the door without telling me it wasn't repaired. They keep telling me it didn't work in less than 3 feet of which was never the case. Where do they think I'm driving all the time?? I was upset. They deceived me and now wasted an hour and a half of my time. I told them to keep it and call when it was repaired. A week later they called and said they did more testing and it was the transponder. It was ordered and installed a week later. They said they put it in the water and it tested good. I doubt it was tested. I picked the boat up. Arranged for someone to drive it from the launch ramp to my home. Went out in it a few days later and guess what. The depth finder does not work. The same issue. Now they've wasted more of my time. Don't use these people. They can't be trusted. 1 read more

No help from Wayland. My new 2.5hp Mercury quit after running it for about two hours. The problem was that the motors valve cover had been dented so that a rocker arm failed as I was using it. I am 74 and had the motor on my inflatable for a week. I know the motor was not dropped. Wayland felt my boat was hit by another boat but that is very unlikely considering that all of the dinghies at our mooring field are inflatables. And a passing fishing boat, and they are but few, would have to have an upper height of about 8" above the water. Read the other Yelp reviews carefully before buying from Wayland. read more

The service department is horrible. Brought my boat in for diagnostic and found that one motor had bent rod and needed supercharger on both motors (Mercury) so to make a long ordeal short after requesting a quote to repower with Mercury Verados and being at the store several times no one called me back. I'm not the only one, heard from a few others in the FB group that same issues they had to deal with no call backs on repower either. And extremely slow for service no joke a month before they may get your boat done and that's quick for them! So beware to all read more

Don't trust them with your boat. Batteries were not charging, and volt gauges were not working. They originally wanted to replace my voltage regulator they said was bad until I informed them, I had just changed them. So, they did no diagnostics prior to wanting to order $200 parts. When they did get on the boat, they found the problem but didn't know what a Battery Isolator box was. So, they just by-passed it by running everything through my Navigation lights. Now they don't work. But told me everything was fixed and 100% operational. Took boat to the Keys and while 15 miles offshore, found that my house battery was not charging. Now I had no gps, lights, radio. When I opened back compartment, it smelled of smoke and found they left everything live and they were sparking and burning while in rough seas. This was sparking right above my fuel lines. Spoke with Chad the service manager and he could care less about my old boat. read more

I brought my boat to Wayland Marine to get a injector fixed. The injector was replaced when I got the boat home I saw that the injector was loose there was no torque on the bolts holding the injector in I called to complain because I pay $129 an hour for a mechanic to fix my stuff the right way the first time and I was told that I can bring the boat back to them and they can fix it again I don't want them to fix it again I drove an hour to get the boat to them and an hour to get the boat back to my house then they want me to drive that two hours again I recommend if you need something done to your boat you find another place to do it. And I'm not one of those people that complain about everything but when you do a job it should be done right so I spent $780 on a crap job. I wanted to say that I have never been so mistreated after buy a new boat for more than 25,000 dollars and I am still being mistreated. Took my boat in for a new steering cable. When I put it in the water it turned right when it should have turned left. Cover plate on throttle assembly missing and gps not working. Obviously brought it back. They fixed the wrong way turning and the gps and "Angel" said a new cover plate was on order. After 5 phone calls Angel has yet to return my call. The sales staff gets five stars. Steve Suddeth was wonderful to work with. We purchased a new nineteen foot Caroline Skiff. The boat was on time and ready for us to pick up. We picked our boat up one week ago. We have a couple small issues with the boat and it is due a twenty hour oil change. We spoke with service and were told our throttle slippage simply needs an easy adjustment. The live well pumps but does not fill, onc again we were told this is an easy fix. We called to schedule our oil change and repairs. They were very pleasant, however the problem is we were told service is on a first come basis and the boat would be there for a week! This is a brand new boat we just purchased from them. Service department rating is one star. Sadly we are very disappointed in the service schedule policy at Waylen Bay for their products. We're here for two weeks and definitely wish we had checked their service scheduling policy before we purchased from them. read more

Gary was the best salesman I could have asked for. He was very knowledgeable and helpful from the first time I met him at the boat show until he delivered the boat to me. He was always quick to respond to any questions and changes I wanted to make to the rigging of the boat. When I arrived to pick up the boat, I didn't have to wait. We had set up a time and he was waiting on me as soon as I walked in the door with all the paperwork ready for me to sign. He went over the boat, motor and etc. with me in detail. I bought a 2019 Carolina Skiff from Waylen Bay Marine in St. Augustine about 6 weeks ago. The next day, I noticed a tear in the interior fiberglass and 2 overlapping cuts in the anchor well. I brought the boat back 2 days later on a Monday. I was told that they would need to see if it was covered by Carolina Skiff under their warranty program. If not covered under the warranty program, I was told they would see what they could offer. A Brand New Boat and they will "see what they could do"!!!! A few days later, I was told that it was covered and I had to schedule an appointment in a couple weeks to have the work done. I live in Jacksonville so I go pick up the boat and schedule an appointment about 2 weeks later. In the meantime, I notice a really bad gas smell. So I bring in the boat for my scheduled appointment and tell them about the the gas leak. About 10 days later, I call and find out that they the fiberglass guy would pick it and and do the repair in 1 day and would also diagnose the the gas leak issue. Again, a Brand New Boat and it takes them 10 days start the repair work!!! The gas leak was from a valve going to the gas tank that was not properly caulked and tightened. You have got to be kidding me!!! They moved a lot quicker when they were taking my money. I picked the boat up a couple days later. The boat was filthy- dirt everywhere. Even had dental floss holder near the motor. Maybe they needed that for the repair or maybe the had a picnic on my boat. Either way, the boat should be clean. Bottom line is there is poor workmanship and poor Quality Control at Carolina Skiff to let a boat leave their factory with so many issues. There is poor management at Waylen Bay Marine in St. Augustine in the way that these issues were handled. Oh, and to top it off, yesterday, I noticed a nut missing on the front bracket on the trailer- this is on the front support bracket. I will replace this myself. So far, my Brand New Boat has been at the dealership longer than at my house Poor Quality, poor Management, and poor customers who have to deal with this dealer. read more

I spent all week negotiating a deal obviously it must have been too good of a deal because they doubled up on the price of my bottom paint which obviously they were trying to make up the difference do yourself a favor and find an honest Sea Fox dealer... I don't mind at these dealers makeing money but they're all trying to make a killing if you're not knowledgeable on a boat they will take advantage of you like you're a 90 year old lady. read more

Do not buy anything from these guys. Their service for warranty issues is terrible. I have been trying to get some warranty issues taken care of since August of 2019 and still i am waiting. They wont return your calls and are very disorganized. The last time i took my boat to them i scheduled the appointment and they knew what i needed. The boat set for 2 weeks and no work was done on it. I finally went and got it because they told me they were still waiting on parts and they blame Tracker. Well i call Tracker and they blame Waylon Bay. Also the boat i bought was brand new and my cranking battery went dead leaving me stranded in the water on my 4th fishing trip. I had to change the wires to the trolling battery to get my boat started. Waylon bay is a 3 hour drive for me so i went and bought another cranking battery. Well you guessed it...Waylon bay told me since i did not have the original battery core they would not give my another battery even though i had a receipt and a copy of where the battery was tested at the Battery shop and would not refund me for the battery i had to purchase. I felt like I was in a used car dealership. My son was trying to purchase a boat from these guys and had many back and forth communications with them. Since I own a boat, I decided to come on down and see what he was about to purchase. First off, the salesman was not very knowledgeable at all and was lying through his teeth about numerous things. You could tell this guy was not a boater or had no knowledge of it. He didn't even know the warranties on the boat. Come on! When I purchased my boat in the Tampa area, my dealer had some really great salesman that actually know boating and just talk to you as a friend not a buyer. Not these guys! Next, we go inside and wait and wait and wait until the salesman finally comes back with a number that was completely out of line with what my son and them had initially spoke about. So they agree that these numbers are out of line from previous conversations and again we wait and wait and wait. Finally, the salesman comes out with a new number but still the same out the door price, they just fixed the numbers in different areas to make it look more appealing. What a joke! BEWARE of these guys playing with numbers! I know this because I worked for a car dealer many many years ago. We ended up leaving and purchasing from a dealer in Palatka. Horribly run business. Do not purchase from them at all costs. I bought a from them in March after the sticker price read $38,999.99 they claimed it was a mistake and wanted me to pay $61,000.00. We settled on $48k. Then they gave me my boat told me the plugs were in it and it nearly sank at the boat ramp on day one. Numerous items on the boat never worked. I added about $15,000.00 worth of options and then in July wanted to trade it in on a contender. They offered me a decent amount on trade and then when I brought it back a few weeks later they mentioned consigning the boat. I did and for 90 days they never even listed it or added pics of my boat after numerous requests. Then I offered to let them buy me out of the boat and they gave me a low ball offer of $35,000.00. The amount of disrespect this place shows its customers is unreal. I even wrote the GM a letter at every location and never have got a response. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING HERE. read more
