Terrible, Terrible, Terrible --- Enroll and attend at your own risk!!! I cannot say it all in one review how disruptive the student services staff are to one's educational career at WCCCD. Mr. Wolfo, supervisor of student services is worthless, useless, and disgraceful. He was given a directive by the District Dean of the CIS Program to enroll me in a Fall Semester CIS class and refused to do so. My request was submitted on June 18th, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. and as of June 26th, 2024, he still has not complied with her order. On this day there were only seven slots open for the class and instructor I wanted. However, because of his insubordinate and spiteful attitude, the class is not closed and I can no longer take my desired class. It's worth mentioning, I am on track to graduate Summer 2025. I literally have 4 more classes until I complete my CIS program degree. As with the other reviewers, WCCCD is a money making machine and the school does not care about your individual achievement as long as students continue to enroll here. As a matter of fact, WCCCD campus presidents assign certain faculty members to make personal calls to potential students to either return to the school or encourage them to enroll as first timers to inflate enrollment numbers for grant money. Sad to say, as long as people keep enrolling into this sham of a school WCCCD will continue to operate in high gear. Take away their spending power and you will capture their attention. Lastly, not all administrators, instructors or academic advisors behave in such a deplorable manner. They are pro-student and work with the student not against him/her. I knew I should have left this school when Mr. Moseley left the only thing I learned in the year-and-a-half that I've been here is what he taught me which was fire cause I create a nice little side hustle selling my custom wigs and earrings on eBay. Any time a school doesn't have a finical aid office on the main campus, and you can never talk to anyone on the phone that should tell you that there is something really wrong with this school. read more

The low ratings that this school receives are well deserved. Seeing is believing. The financial office is terrible and the only surprise is that these people still have a job. After having so many negative reviews why hasn't anyone done anything about it. The people who work in that office are not there to help you and they make sure that you are aware of this. One guy who works in the office says he is not there to help you, because it is "a self-serve financial aid office" according to him. Apparently his only job is to point to the sign, that he made, stating this fact. On my second visit I had to listen to the staff gossip about a student. The student complained about them to the administration and so she was a problem to them. The unprofessionalism exhibited by these individuals was unbelievable. They complained about the student for over an hour in front of other students! They finally came to the conclusion that complaints didn't matter to them. read more

Lazy, rude, and just an overall incompetent staff. My son and i have been trying to fix his financial aid with WCCCD since last summer! They still haven't issued out his disbursement from last year! My son has sent in all his paperwork repeatedly. The woman in the financial aid's DT campus admitted to misplacing my son's student id# that she had written down. She also informed us that she did not read his emails that he sent her regarding his student aid and even told me that if i couldn't remember the day that i electronically sent in my paperwork, that she couldn't help my son collect his federal aid to complete his classes. After reminding this woman of my son's rights as a student and that she and the college District could be reported, she began to finally work on his file. He did receive one half of his aide and was guaranteed last year's disbursement. However, he still hasn't received anything. Back at square one. Calls regarding this issue are not answered and no-one has responded to his voicemail messages. Utterly disgusted with this whole experience. I'm glad he's almost finished with his program here. Staff members will just give you the run around if you are not persistent. There are so many other students who go through this crap. How can you concentrate on your studies if you are constantly on the phone with their financial aid office trying to correct their errors! I'm reporting them to The Department of Higher Education and I'm also leaving the local news stations tips about this college. Someone needs to investigate their financial aid department. The reason why I am giving WC3 -- Downtown such a terrible score is solely based on the Admissions/Financial Aid department. I have taken classes twice (2 different summer semesters) and both teachers I had were fine. Now to the important stuff: The administration at WC3 Downtown is completely unorganized, disrespectful, and lack a lot of class. The way they talk to you (especially considering that they need YOUR money) is ridiculous. I am a guest student that goes to Wayne State and they are always confused on how to handle it. I wanted to take a Accounting class online and they completely messed it up and I wasn't able to register for the class because the deadline had passed. I sent my transcript way in advance to but they didn't "go over it" until I was already 3 weeks in another class (that the transcript wasn't needed) for. I think her name is Rae but she is the one that needs to get fired. Terrible attitude and doesn't like helping people even though its the main purpose of her job. I am happy to say that I won't have to ever take another class at WC3 because I'm about to graduate but I would probably have gone to another WC3 campus if it were possible. read more

The Instructors were great. the issue is the people who are working in administration. They are the worst. They always come off as if your bothering them or stupid. It makes you not want to ask the important questions when you are trying to get your education. I really don't like going to this school. They are rude and are very disinterested in doing their job. How can a school, with like 5 campuses, not have a freaking Financial Aid office? Paying for college is pretty much the #1 most important aspect of getting started, nothing can happen until you know you can PAY for classes and it involves hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. And I have to leave a VOICEMAIL if I have a question, worry, concern or need help? (Btw, I've called and left several messages for 'financial aid' before and have NEVER gotten a call back, as they promise. I usually have to stalk Webgate and I either see updates from them on there later on or sometimes NOTHING, at which point I have to make ANOTHER phone call. Completely idiotic operation. This school is good for broke people, slow learners, people with low expectations, and people just looking for something to stay busy (continuing education). This school doesn't allow for basic things that better schools do such as over riding into a closed section with prof permission (whats the big deal if the prof doesn't mind?) Alot of the instructors can't teach. I got all B's on exams in one class turned in half the homework and I was shocked when I went online and saw that my grade was an E. Are you kidding me? I know I didn't do all the homework, but I did well on the exams. Anyway, the school is not for the brightest and best people, but it does provide you with the piece of paper you need to prove that you've been educated. I recommend almost any other community college in the area or of course a real university. read more

I give WC3, the highest grade that this college can get. I didn't have any problems with admissions at the downtown campus everyone was helpful and gave me good advice about my chosen classes. I was taking a class at first, I wasn't motivated, I was going to quit. But I kept imagining myself with my certificate, I want better for my self so kept getting online doing my class work and applying my self, and I finished with B's and C's. My advice to anyone imagine yourself with the degree or certificate that you want, and keep pushing and applying yourself no matter what you have to go through to do your classwork, You will make it. This is the biggest pile of garbage school you can imagine. I was enrolled in an accredited program and the office staff was the worst. Lost paperwork, told you incorrect information, communication was poor at best. You had to constantly call the office and remind them to do their jobs. They had favoritism with certain students and it was blatantly obvious. Their exams had multiple wrong answers and course documents were incorrect if even sent. Students had to contact other classmates In the semester ahead of them to get the course documents. Literally had teachers not show up for class/clinicals for months but was still expected to learn the information. The icing on the cake is I passed all requirements for my program and I am currently waiting to be licensed by the state. Come to find out the school NEVER sent my paperwork to the state, therefore I am unable to test, I am unable to become licensed, I am unable to become employed. They are literally costing me money and they don't care. Ridiculous that I should have to call a school and tell them to do their job. I'm not sure if the office staff is lazy or incompetent either way neither are an excuses for the blatant disregard for destroying peoples lives on a daily basis. If you can avoid this school I urge you too. If you were like me and thought, it's close, it's cheap and there is no waiting list then pray to GOD everyday when you go there.
