Although we weren't very hopeful, we thought acupuncture could at least help to get my cycle normalized again after the rollercoaster of IVF stimulation hormones. Angie recommended a 6-month program of acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbs. After 4 months, she told us we might consider trying again, we did, and voilà, we were pregnant. We kept expecting things to go wrong, but they didn't. Fast forward just over a year from when we started with Angie, and our happy, healthy baby was born. We are forever grateful. Beyond fertility treatments, I would trust Angie at her word; if she believes she can help you, she more than likely can. Throughout my visits, she helped with myriad other issues that popped up in the day-to-day. I continued my visits with her for support through the first trimester and started up again during the third trimester. Angie's a gifted healer and goes out of her way to help. Her office is always spotlessly clean and a tranquil, relaxing environment. All of her team are consistently kind and professional. You can't go wrong in seeking treatment here.

I was not worried until I had a big bruise on my face for about 9 days! Everywhere I went people asked me about it. Freaked me out. Also bad: Office is unable to provide easy way to submit to Flexible spending accounts (FSAs). Patients OOP is separate from the superbills, and they email the Superbills separately, creating a huge job for patient. I had seven visit and had to make 3 calls and deal with 14 different emails in order to submit. I gave up. Seems like a healthcare company could do better given the expansive use of FSA/HSA reimbursement. Also bad: When looking at the superbill it said I was there for the treatment of pain. I did not seek accupuncture for pain. I did not have much pain, I suspect they did this to garner insurance coverage. Pain was only a very small part (or no part) of the reason I sought care. And while I was happy they got the treatments covered, it made me uneasy Also bad: A provider called me to speak to me about the hematomia after I reported it (oddly not the provider who gave it to me) When I called back, they never returned my call. Darn, I wanted to love this place and continue treatment, but too many issues

It would have been nice to know beforehand but I understand things happen. However, when I tried to book with her for follow up appointments none were available for the times I'm available after work. I have a couple of appointments for another acupuncturist and I'm hopeful they will be there. My initial appointment was fine and the lady was very nice but I think my disappointment overshadowed the session. I'm hopeful it was a fluke and I will report later after my next session.

And overall, I just wanted to see the entire place because there was so much they were offering on the website. I thought to myself this would be a great place for One-Stop shopping in therapy & self-care. When I called to get more information about the IV treatments, I was referred to the website of the third party who was actually providing the treatment. It was good information and I was all in! When we arrived the gentleman at the front desk, I believe his name is Adrian, notice my hat and we had a very long conversation. We were both from New Mexico and had a lot to exchange. He showed us around and was very pleasant. Small world! When we were completing the tour the practitioner arrived to give us IV treatments. My partner was set up in a chair that seemed to be used for the IV treatments. It was something like a dentist chair but you could tell it was specifically for that purpose. Then a customer arrive to use the bike (for some sort of oxygen treatment) and another employee basically came and said we had to move. She made us felt as though we were intruding because the woman administering the IV treatment was a third party vendor (she further relayed she had no control over those appointments so we had to move). It was off-putting. We moved into a room that seemed to be for massage therapy. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The woman administering the IV treatment had to break out her phone flashlight to get enough light to administer the IV. I also use the red light therapy bed and honestly looked forward to trying some of the other therapies (specifically massage & acupuncture), but I don't think this is for me. The massage rooms look very private and perhaps calming. However, there seems to be a lot going on in the main space. It gives me locker room vibes, which may work for some, but it was not what I was expecting. If you live in the city, you can have IV treatments at your home. They'll come to you. That's what I've done going forward.

However, always give it a try, it seriously does not hurt and this practice is extremely peaceful, calm, and relaxing. All of the acupuncturist are extremely professional and they all care so much about their patients. They also offer bodyworks such as different type of massages that are geared towards relaxation. Remember they are NOT a spa. If your insurance does not cover acupuncture, they also offer community which is way cheaper. Overall, mend is the best place for one-on-one acupuncture. I would recommend black sheep in Rosedale, MD if you want a great community acupuncture. They have a $15-30 sliding scale for there community, so it's more affordable.

Ida, who is typically organizing all the things and handling the front desk, is also fantastic and is always there to give a smile and a wave as you float out the door after a session. If you're nervous, hesitant, looking for a shorter session, or looking for something more affordable, Mend offers community acupuncture which consists of several lounge type chairs in a room together.
