Wayside Early Years is a pre-school setting attached, although not part of, Beaufort school. The setting prefers free-play to structured teaching but each child will have a weekly target which will be worked on by the staff through that free play. There are two classes, the first Sunshine from 2 1/2 to about 3 1/2. The children then progress to Rainbow where the time is a little more structured. There is a craft area shared bewteen the two classes for messy play. This area also doubles as a cafe area for snack time. Children are encouraged to be as self-sufficient as possible although staff are always alert to their needs. Outdoor play in encouraged and children will spend 30 mins outside in all weathers save for the extreme when there is danger. The environment is warm and welcoming and the OFSTED reports speak highly of the setting. Sessions run in either the morning or afternoon. There is no lunch provision. Special needs are catered for.
