There's literally NO bad seat in this intimate theater. I'm not exaggerating. While the balcony seats at the downtown Civic Theatre might leave you squinting at tiny figures at premium prices, here I felt like I was practically part of the show regardless of where I sat. And at these super reasonable prices? It's almost criminal how much value you're getting. Walking into their production of "Hello, Dolly!" I was immediately struck by how the modest stage might compare to larger Broadway venues. This is a place where size absolutely doesn't matter here. The creative team masterfully used every square inch of that space, with choreography that had me wondering how they fit so much spectacular dancing into such a cozy setting. Those dancers deserve medals for their spatial awareness alone! What truly sets SDMT apart is the caliber of talent they attract. This isn't just "good for local theater"--these are performers who deliver professional-quality entertainment that had me smiling from the opening number to the final bow. The acting was so engaging that I completely forgot there wasn't a traditional orchestra. Did I miss it? Not for a second. The performers commanded the space so completely that any potential limitations simply vanished. While here are no actual curtains, it didn't detract from the experience, this adds to the intimate, immersive quality that makes this theater special. You're not just watching a show, you're part of its world from the moment you take your seat. For North County residents, this place is a revelation. The easy drive and FREE parking situation (though come early, as spaces are limited and you might need to street park) makes this infinitely more accessible than the downtown venue. No parking fees, no traffic nightmares, just straight to the entertainment. Walking out after the show, I found myself repeating "wow, wow, wow" like a happy theater mantra. Seems like a good place for beginners who interested in acting and wanted to learn the basic…read morestuffs, I never thought there was a studio in San Diego that existed that long since 1989, since I am a union actor just happen to stop by to watch auditions and have fun myself; they have a small auditorium so people can watch you perform live on camera, then record you, doing monologue, and you get to listen to feedbacks from everyone in the room. They do offer paid classes, you might want to check out just to get your feet wet if you don't want to drive all the way to LA. You get to see different people from all walks of life attending, even the newscaster Sasha Foo came by, and we chatted a bit regarding SAG-AFTRA.

My daughter has danced at a few studios in San Diego county - ballet studios and competitive…read morecommercial studios. Plus I am performing arts teacher, and have many friends in the dance community. My daughter has always loved dance, and has always said ballet is her favorite. We went in search of the studio with the best training in San Diego, and hands down came up with Ballet Institute. The teachers are top notch, the training is rooted in the Vaganova Russian Program, and isn't about quick tricks, but instead about building strong technique. The studio owner/director/head teacher Egle Spokaite is magnificent. She comes form a background as a VERY prominent principal dancer in Lithuania, and she ran the national ballet school there. She has this way about her that is always down to business, but also loving, and nurturing. I have watched the progress of my daughter in 1 year, and I'm amazed. She has great friendships that she has made, and the teachers all show her support. The students thrive there! I'm so glad that we made the decision to start attending BISD.

The level of instruction is top tier with professional training for singing, dance, and acting. The level of fun and comradery is so high that he's come away with friends he still hangs out with a year later. The best part for the kids is the show they put on at the end of the camps or the rising starts production. For the short amount of time they work on the show in the camps (longer for the production), the kids put on an amazing show that blows the audience away. Anyway, it checks all the boxes for me: fun, friends, learning, growth.
