This review is for wcve or just public radio in Richmond in general...as someone who has listened to WRFK broadcasting from Union Theological Seminary way back when I have to say Richmond Public Radio has gotten so boring....First the positive...the Classical music is still outstanding but most other programs are so boring....it did not happen all at once. The programing use to be so good especially on Saturday evening....honestly who listens to this now...Prairie Home Companion, Page Wilson's show, George Maida's show all gone....yes I know they are dead but look what they were replaced with...now I am listening to the Brazilian hour....come on now....always a good cut or two but that's it...who is this programming for? Now the news Yes NPR is bias & I am a Democrat but it is not open, fair and honest...I know what they are going to say before they open their mouths...hardly any local news...juz canned NPR stuff...the tidewater station much more interesting to listen to...what gives, you have plenty of money but stale, stale, stale. read more

In recent years WCVE has gotten into the nasty habit of announcing web addresses that did not exist! Examples: * https://ideastations.org/mugstop (although this was later corrected.) * The SNAFU with the link for the Capitol Steps that I mentioned earlier. * https://ideastations.org/survey was announced last week; when I went there this morning, there was a statement "Click here to begin the survey (Link to become active on Friday, 2/28 at 12:00 p.m.)" Well, as of 08.00 this morning, 19.03.03, the "click here" was not a link, and there was no evident way to get to the survey. Thankfully, President and CEO Curtis Monk hit the bricks last September. However, there is still considerable room for improvement. read more

I love me some NPR and PBS! Came here for a Virginia Production Alliance meeting, and the facilities were accommodating. I hear WCVE is a very supportive partner of local organizations and projects with like-minded missions. Will have to look into that! read more

I love PBS programming they have shows for all the family. They have shows my grandchildren enjoy watching and they are educational as well. i find a lot of history shows on here as well as science shows. So try something a little different you might be surprised I was. read more

WCVE and WCVW are local institutions that offer more than just the usual PBS programming. WCVE produces the excellent local show "Virginia Currents", and WCVW regular broadcasts Richmond City Council meetings. Since the digital TV transition, Northern Virginia's MHz Networks can now be seen on Channel 23-3. MHz provides Richmond viewers with something it's been providing Washington-area viewers for quite some time- a wide variety of news, entertainment and sports programming from around the world. read more

Wow. Just heard a wonderful band on WCVW radio Richmond, VA Saturday Jan 26 at 9:30 pm. Band is from the UK and they had a song called Sugar Face. Eclectic, a multitude of voices & instruments. Want to know the name of the band but there is no WCVE radio playlist available on the internet (remiss) and they're also not answering the phone. Hence the 2 star review. Oh, and by the way, I used to work there (WCVE TV) and we always answered the phone at night since we were there on the switcher. read more

The station is beautiful and a great venue for events, especially for the monthly meetings and panels of the Virginia Production Alliance, who are a great networking tool for anyone in acting, theater or film! read more
