The man did not remove firebricks when cleaning the stove, the flue pipe came loose when doing chimney. I asked them to check the pipe, since it has been a problem before. He said the pipe was fine. Angelo charged me 30 % more than than the previous year, and no senior discount. Two weeks later, I can't close the draft, it was clogged with ashes; then I saw flames coming out of the flue pipe where the pipes are connected. So, the man did not check it as I asked. After collecting $250 for the service call, we were told he had other calls to go on and could not stay for a half hour 45 minutes to see if the fire place would stay lit after he secured the glass to some latches, saying maybe it was because of a air leak. When we called to let him know the fireplace still was not staying lit. He said it was probably the valve. Never bothered coming back to investigate further. Just said they no longer make Lenox Valves. The problem was the fireplace sensors connections just needed a good cleaning. Definitely a money grab business looking to sell a new fireplace for the tune of $6,000.

A year or so ago we learned it was because the unit they sold us was WAY too large for the space, so the fires we were burning were not hot enough to keep the glass relatively free of soot. We called and told them, suggesting they might swap ours out for a similarly valued used one the correct size, but they didn't respond. A few months later our follow up email received the same silence. We ended up buying fire bricks to fill enough space in it to allow us to burn smaller, hotter fires without overheating the room. It helped, but we still have to do more glass cleaning than we should and ended up spending more money on the larger unit than we needed to. I texted and left several messages over the past few weeks ago. Today Michelle called me to say Sam would no longer be working on our equipment. No reason, just an abrupt end. I do not consider this professional. He was always paid in full and usually with a partial payment before he started a project. The IPAD was suddenly missing. We tore the home apart and searched until the next day before placing blame on anyone. The owner of Chimneys Best said Its impossible that anyone from his crew stole it and he offered for his cousin who is trooper to trace it. Unfortunately, since the IPAD we bought our daughter for her 6th grade graduation never left the confines of our home we did not put the tracer on and it was also unlocked so no matter what the offer was it would be untraceable. We filed a police report but nothing came out of it. I should have taken the day off and been vigilant the entire time but since we moved to a small new town I suppose I was too trusting. I do not think the owner of Chimneys Best stole it but Im 100% sure someone in his crew did.
