I would give them a zero stars if I could. First, do not do the budget billing. They do not know how to budget the budget billing. My husband was with We Energies for 40 years and never missed or late on a payment. We moved and called to cancel our service and was told we owed over $900. We were told we owed due to the budget billing. I have worked with other fuel companies with budget billing and it is renewed every year and adjusted with a + or - depending on how accurately they estimated the fuel market and worked the difference in the knew annually budget billing. Apparently We Energies has either incompetent employees who do not know how to set up the budget for budget billing our they are some of the most evil dishonest individuals on the planet. We Energies renews the budget billing every 6 months. We were pleasantly surprised when are monthly billing went down for a while. So why reduce what we owe monthly if we owed in the rears over $900. We payed a down-payment and then we set up a payment arrangement in May. Never received a statement until June 28 stating we owed $550 due by July 20. We called to let them know we are on a payment plan. We were told we missed the June payment and they sent us to collections and their is nothing they can do now and we should contact the collection company. They will not provide us with a budget history tp prove we even owed anything. Stay away from them at all cost and if there is no other provider DO NOT DO THE BUDGET BILLING!!!!!!!! read more

I get a notice that my meter needs to be replaced. No problem right? They only have week days available, no evenings, can't promise time frames, and can only schedule months out. I've tried to work with them on several occasions, no help. No they threatened to shut off my gas mid winter if I don't take a day off work to sit around and wait for them. read more

WeEnergies is probably one of the only companies that I know with a super easy and quick to access customer service resource, that is also super accommodating. I've had to make some changes with transferring my electricity from my old place to my new place more than once now, and each time I've called them to modify the changes, they've been happy to do so for me and made the adjustment quicker than you can count to 3. They never sounded annoyed that I've had to call for the same thing multiple times. And it's not like other companies where you have to wait 30 minutes or more to get ahold of customer service. Straight up garbage company and customer support. Frequent hours long outrages caused by inclement weather that is FORECASTED and not staffed properly for, and downed trees that they don't cut back or trim ahead of time. I have had WE Energies service for many years and they have always been very good to work with. Efficient, friendly and on-time. The customer service staff I have spoken with are very helpful. The online bill pay function is easy to use. We just moved out of state and I already see how lucky I was to have this organization as my service provider. read more

Living in Chicago, where we have Com Ed as our power supplier, we have grown accustomed to extended outages and poor customer service. Our experience with WE energies have been to the contrary. We have a seasonal home in the Northwoods that we travel back and forth to from late spring to late fall. It is important for us to know when an outage has occurred and how long it has lasted as we often have perishables in the freezer. When an outage occurs, we get an automated call along with a reasonable estimate of how long it will take to rectify the problem. As far as I can recall, they have always beaten the estimate given. They also call when the repair is complete. This may not seem like a big deal but to someone who had grown to expect poor service, it is a welcome surprise. read more

I would beware of choosing WE Energies if it can be avoided. Due to an administrative mistake on my end (I mistakenly thought my billpay was set on autopay), my account for two months went into a delinquent status. Once I had realized my mistake, I made payment in full. I later found out, two days AFTER my payment had been processed by WE Energies, that they still proceeded to issue an adverse report to the credit bureaus. Beside the fact my account was actually current at the time, their collections team never even attempted to contact me before making the report. Had they done so, I would have realized my mistake sooner and made payment in full. I have absolutely no history of delinquent payments with the bureaus, this is the one item adversely impacting mynearly perfect credit. Prior and subsequent to this issue, my account has been current. However WE Energies has refused to extend any goodwill and retract the adverse credit report. Their internal policies and practices are extremely aggressive and unyielding. If possible, pick another provider! read more

My power has rarely been down and I'm happy about that, plus the price is decent. However, I think there's room for improvement. The web site needs to show real time balance for accounts. It apparently does not. The conventional standard for utilities is to show the *current* balance on the web site. The fact is, I admit, that I overpaid because of that balance amount displayed. I am 1/2 at fault for that mistake but We Energies is 1/2 at fault I feel. Please get those balances up to date. Thanks for the awesome power, though!!! read more

I called in to report an electrical surge in my area, which has been experienced on multiple occasions, and the representative immediately tried to discount my claim. Arthur's immediate response was, "have others in the building experienced the same issue?"... 'Well, I just say that because we provide energy to the building and it is likely an internal problem.' Arthur, you are a customer service phone representative, not an electrician. Also from a company perspective, requiring clients to give their SSN for service is an outdated practice and a huge identity theft risk. I have experienced service from several electricity providers and We Energies is by far the worst. read more

Its always something with this company since when do you have to fill out an application for new service and wait to be approved. Light and gas is a necessity not a want but yet and still you have to jump through hoops to get it. Nature of Complaint: Billing or Collection Issues - The company has failed to correct billing errors Problem: We Energies is stating that I owe money to them for a place whereby I never lived in that place, And the people that I have spoken to have made threats and like to bully, plus do name calling in order for me to send them money to pay a bill in which I have never lived at this place ever. The one thing the place where We Energies is claiming I lived at it has been over five years and I have never received a bill from We Energies from at all. I would say this is a scam by We Energies in order to collect money from me and seeing that the scam is an mistake made by We Energies that a person in the billing department is trying to gain more and to make threats and bulling someone out of their money by having We Energies make faults claims again those who never live in a place in the first place. If I could give a 0 I would I have only had WE energies for less than 3 years and have had 2 major issues with them. They continued to bill me after I moved apartments for 4 months even though I called an canceled. They gave me some but not all of my money back after fixing it. I have my second apartment set up as automatic withdrawal and some other person called in and changed the address to theirs accidentally. I received one voicemail about it but they did not say my name so I assumed it was a mistake. Then I'm getting threats that my electricity will be shut off when I am away at a conference. I get home and they are now going to send me one giant backdated bill. This is ridiculous, when I have done everything that I should in both situations and they can't seem to get their act together. I get some bs apology from the person on the phone and that they care about customer satisfaction, obviously not, if I actually had the option to pick another provider I would, but then thats what you get with monopolies. read more
