After realizing Cook might be a strain on their student budgets (and almost impossible to get in class unless they made reservations a million years ago), thinking dinner at a restaurant just wouldn't be special or intimate enough, and knowing how YIITTI/healthy living/eating took over my life for the last few months, they settled on this idea, and it was perfect! Picture one part cooking class, one part gourmet vegetarian dinner, one part wine, one part private party, and a dash of nutrition education. Sally is 1. The sweetest woman ever; 2. VERY knowledgeable about nutrition/ healthy living/eating/all that good stuff; and 3. Great at sharing her passion (but realistic about making suggestions for "real people" like us. The menu (which we received a copy of and was personalized to congratulate me) included: amazing beet lentil hummus, delicious nectarine basil rhubarb salad, awesome zucchini avocado cherry tomato "pasta"salad (we used this awesome twirly machine to string zucchini into pasta), chickpea fritters with mango chutney, raw cashew cream and strawberries, and the piece de resistance: her signature sea salt raw chocolate pudding. I don't even really every crave chocolate, or like pudding that much, but this. pudding. is. heavenly. seriously. AND it's healthy. We left pleasantly (okay, let's not lie, overly) sated, but feeling great about how healthy and delicious our dinner was, and having learned a few new great recipes! Sally also does pantry raids (teehee), nutrition counseling, specialty classes (a la Cook, but much more affordable), and private events like ours.
