We-Ko-Pa has been on my short list of valley courses I've wanted to play for years. Booked 18 holes at Cholla and 18 holes at Saguaro on the same day with an hour break for lunch. The clubhouse and amenities are amazing. The practice areas are very spacious and in great shape. The range was in perfect condition. The course was also in great shape...some yellow patches in the pictures but as you're standing out there it's really green and clean. Greens were smooth and never had a ball bounce offline. The weather was very nice, low 80s with a cool breeze and patchy clouds throughout the day. I played with friends from out of town and everyone had an amazing time. Both courses are very approachable regardless of your skill level. The fairways are wide enough that you won't lose too many balls from wayward shots. I shot in the low 80s on both courses...was hoping to have at least one round in the 70s but missed too many putts. Looking forward to booking and playing out here again! read more

Played Sagauro at We-Ko-Pa. The staff was super friendly and grounds were well maintained. Every hole offered beautiful views and excellent tee boxes. We saw the friendly cart girls twice, and the landscapers stayed out of our way. Carts looked brand new, with comfortable leather seats that even had constrast stitching. Cart's GPS system and Bluetooth speakers worked well. Their carts even have club-cleaning brushes and a ball-cleaning dip tank! And if course, the cart cooler was full of ice and stocked with 4 bottles of water. The food was pretty good. Pro shop has plenty of hats and anything you might need. Bathrooms are very clean and stocked with both lotion and sunscreen pump bottles. 10/10 would recommend and would play again. This course felt really laid back; like the starter didn't give us any instructions, and the pace of play was on the slower end even though we were keeping up with the group ahead. We weren't in a rush though, and we were more than happy to take in the perfect weather and lovely sights. read more

This course is absolutely breathtaking. We played the Cholla course and were blown away! The fairway was absolutely pristine and the greens were well taken care of. Similarly to many high end courses, they have unlimited balls at the driving range, a very nice short game / putting area and top of the line golf carts with built in GPS range finders. The big draw of this course is that you really are golfing in the desert, there are no big homes right next to you on the course! While there are no big houses, there are plenty of animal homes! We saw javelinas, bobcats, coyotes and more! This was such a unique experience; it really felt like we were out in the middle of the desert by ourselves. The staff were all very friendly and nice, and the clubhouse, dining room and bathrooms were all exceptionally clean. I highly recommend golfing here for a true desert golf experience! read more

Played both courses in early September - some of the best golf I've ever experienced. Each course is unique and they play completely different (I slightly preferred Cholla). Both days we had early tee times and were some of the first groups out. Never felt rushed or like we were waiting for the group in front of us. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly. We stopped by the WeKoPa Grille right next to the clubhouse for lunch after our round and were pleasantly surprised with the meals. Definitely plan on playing again next time I'm in the Scottsdale area. read more

Booked a tee time here for my husband and his dad for my husband's birthday. I really wish I hadn't. The tee time was for 12:20 pm and they didn't finish their round until almost 5:00pm!! This is absolutely unacceptable. I will never book here again and I would honestly like a refund! It ruined my husband's birthday and was ultimately a long, hot miserable day when it should have been a nice relaxing birthday. If you can't manage and control your golf course pace you have no right charging these kinds of prices. If you plan to book a tee time here be sure to have all day to play because they don't have a marshal and care less about the customers experience. There's just too many other great golf courses in our area to pay to come here. read more

As part of a business conference, we were staying at the We-Ko-Pa resort and our annual golf scramble was held at this golf course. I've seen many nice golf course and being in the southeast area, I've been to Augusta, Pinehurst and Harbourtown. This was one of, if not the, best golf courses I'd ever played. The course features Calloway for rentals even though I brought my own Calloways (If I'd known, I would have rented). They also provide a bag of Calloway balls to our group. The golf carts have GPS as well as a sound system for music. The overall layout is quite challenging. The fairways were perfect. The grass is so thick and well kept, I don't think it's possible to take a divot. It's almost like astroturf. The greens were well maintained and nearly impossible to stick----quite fast. Well designed and maintained. Bravo. The beverage cart ladies were very friendly and seemed to be always available. I would love to do it again when I can must play my own ball. When you return, the staff is very friendly and takes great care of your clubs. Great scenery and wildlife. I'd never seen Javolinas on a golf course before. First off, the golf course we played was Cholla and it was beautiful. Course was in great shape and nothing but 5 starts for the course and maintenance staff. We had a frost delay which isn't anyones fault, and isn't the reason for the 3 stars. The reason is some of the staff, primarily the golf shop seemed uninterested in providing a welcoming experience. Upon walking in to check in, all 4 of the guys behind the desk were just doing their own thing and couldn't even say "welcome in." Going back through later to get a drink at bar, didn't even get a glance. Maybe they were too busy watching the football game on the tv but it was just a rude and not the experience expected from a premium high end course. As far as starter he was good. And the bag crew overall was good except for one kid who brought our 4th's bags over, put them on the cart, and left without saying a word. Maybe the staff was having a bad day with the frost delay, but be a professional and treat customers paying a hefty amount with some appreciation, or maybe just a hello. read more

Played here with a group of friends for a golf trip and hands down it was THE BEST!! The staff was amazing when we pulled up and was a great welcome to the beautiful course! Although it was crazy hot outside, all the employees had positive attitudes and made us feel welcome. The course is in great condition with the extreme heat and we had to play cart path only because it had rained heavily the night before but more steps for us lol it was a tough course but totally worth it! I hardly ever write reviews, but this is one that's well deserved. I went there last night and this place is a train wreck. It was the first time I've been there in 24 years and I was looking forward to the new facility. However, I was very disappointed. I was playing blackjack (at over 100 hand) for about three hours and I basically had to get a fire alarm to get a drink. The service sucks and the staff is not friendly. Played Saguaro with a buddy and wow what a great golf course! The facilities are first class with an excellent practice area to warm up before your round. Food at the restaurant was good but not great. The Saguaro course was in perfect condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were immaculate. The course was beautiful and had a very fun layout with views throughout. The course was challenging but also very forgiving in an areas making it quite playable. I live in Chicago, but I'm fortunate enough to get to do two golf trips to Arizona every winter. We've played courses all over the Phoenix area and We-Ko-Pa has always been our favorite. In fact, we've stopped going anywhere else and just stay and play at We-Ko-Pa! The rundown: - Both courses are fantastic. They each have a different feel and set of challenges. You can also vary the tee boxes to open up a whole new challenge (word of advice, unless you are a single-digit handicap, don't do the purple on Saguaro. I just learned that the hard way!) - The greens are in great shape and run true. Fast, but not crazy fast. (I'd wager about an 11) - The staff is awesome. Super friendly and fun. We even had a lost item and the lengths they went through to find it were above and beyond. Major shout out to Eric and Josh. - The hotel is great too. Nice pool and hot tubs. The staff was a ton of fun. They were decked out in Chicago Bears gear for the NFL playoffs. They welcomed me despite the Green Bay Packer golf bag, hat, clothes, etc.! It lead to a lot of fun banter. It may cost a little more than other courses in the area, but trust me, it is worth every penny! Both courses need to be on your AZ golf bucket list. read more

First time coming to Scottsdale and fiance wanted to golf. Of all the golf courses around the area, he chose this one and cannot be more happy with his selection. The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming and overall amazing people. The food cart ladies offered us food/drinks about 5 times throughout the 18 holes we played. I didn't play golf but the club let me sit in the cart with my fiance for free. The cart was very nice. It had stiched leather, a filled cooler that fit 3 drinks, lots of storage and a nice screen. My fiance said the course was very well mapped out and it wasn't too difficult. The course is so quiet and peaceful, you can't hear any other groups or roads. Will definitely play here again next time we're in the area. read more

3 stars only because the course and facility is phenomenal, really sick course. Idk if it was the heat or bad day but got a really weird & bad vibe from the cart guy group. Firstly, I walk up to check in with them and get a cart. I show up right on time - coming from another round I had just finished up at Grayhawk. I say "hey guys sorry for being a bit late" one guy jokingly responds "oh too bad you're late that's not gonna work can't go out" something along those lines. I go "wait what really" because they're all just laughing smug looking at each other. Guy finally responds "no you're good" My other buddy said when he arrived he wasn't greeted and nothing was said to him at all, so he wasn't given a cart and walked his bag all the way to the pro shop. Finishing the round at literally 7:45 sun has just fallen, we drive our carts in to return. Two older guys - one approaches my bag to wipe my clubs, I told him "no thank you I'm good" as I legit never get my clubs wiped at return. He doesn't even look at me and just walks away with the most disgruntled face. The other guy approaches my friends cart saying "I thought you guys were lost, I also thought maybe you guys just can't tell time or can't read." (Bc I guess carts are to be returned at 7:30p) No score card was offered to us they just pulled them off and threw them away. Just felt very unwelcomed at beginning and end. read more

We came to Scottsdale, AZ to play golf. The course was challenging due to the heat of the day, 98 degrees, and the usual scrub brush between the tee box and the fairway. The facilities and golf carts were first-class. Except for two holes being cart path only, we could ride up to the ball. The staff was friendly and so was the Road Runner who jumped up at our outdoor table.we enjoyed our round. read more

You know, I'm going to go ahead and give We-ko-pa 5-stars, because well, I'm rating a golf course. Me and a buddy were visiting from Utah and We-Ko-Pa topped the list for public courses to play. So we went ahead and scheduled 36 holes for one day. Yes it was hot and yes it was a lot of fun. We played the Coore/Crenshaw course in the morning and it was our favorite of the two. Truly gorgeous and fair course. I never thought "man that was a dumb hole." Instead I always thought "yet another gorgeous hole." We stopped for lunch at the main clubhouse for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. And it was reasonably priced. $11 or something for a pulled pork sandwich with a yummy spicy slaw. The back 18 as we called it was also fun. Nice course and I'd play it again. Just liked the first 18 better. My only complaint? PUT MORE WATER ON THE COURSE. CUPS WITH ICE Machines and water. That would make wekopa even better! We brought our own water bottles or we would have been paid a ton to the cart lady. read more

I've played here often lately with the $75 summer pass, which offers $35 rounds for you and your friends before 11am, and $25 rounds after 11am, cart and range balls included. That's a spectacular deal to play two different courses that are both ranked in the 'Top 50 in the U.S. that You Can Play' list. Course is in pretty good shape for summer. Greens weren't quite as fast as I would have expected. It can be extremely difficult to get a morning tee time, even for a single looking to join a group, due to the popularity of the summer pass. Staff is extremely friendly. Food portions are very large, and the food is affordable and tasty. Some really tough golf. Cholla is much target golf-style, whereas Saguaro is more wide open off of the tee, and I feel like Saguaro offers some cooler elevation changes. I doubt I'll play here in the fall, winter, or spring, as the rates are understandably much higher for the tourists and the snowbirds coming down. But I feel extremely lucky to have such a great golf facility at my disposal this summer for such low prices. read more

Only got to play the Saguaro Course and enjoyed it a lot. Stunning layout that makes you think of shaping shots with the landscape. Beautiful. Only gripe is the greens were hairy and tough to get the ball going. Lots of holes that made me want to get out the camera and take pictures. Practice areas were beautiful as well. Love that the range curves around too. Other than the greens the course was beautifully manicured. Talked to some other people on our trip and they all like the Cholla course more. Nestled in majestic desert and mountain terrain, Fort McDowell We Ko Pa golf course is a blend of high desert beauty and modern amenities. I've had a chance to play the Saguaro course a few times during fund raising tournaments, but this past time, I played the Cholla course. Cholla (cho-ya) is a Scott Miller design and Saguaro (saw-wa-row) was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Both courses are built into the rolling Sonoran desert and are beautiful. Depending on which tee box you choose, the course can challenge you with some long carries. The rolling hills guarantee few flat lies but the greens are smooth and generous. We Ko Pa is located north of Mesa on highway AZ87. It is just a few minutes east of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills and about 45 minutes from Sky Harbor Airport. Greens fees were very competitive and the customer service was unparalleled. Even with Covid rules, the course was able to provide single carts but water stations were not open. Instead, each cart came with two bottles of water. If you havent had a chance to play We Ko Pa, please put it on your list. It's a challenging, beautiful course. read more

Rating is based on employees. Something is very wrong here, employees must hate working here. Every employee we encountered was unfriendly except at the end. Bill Billmyry was awesome. He was friendly and provided excellent customer service. We have played a number of other courses in the area and this was by far the worst from a employee service prospective. We played Saguaro and it was a great course in good condition it's just hard to get past the unfriendly employees. Nick in the pro shop was one of the worst. He should not be customer facing service. I hope you are looking at this Matt Barr. There are to many great courses in the area, why spend it in such an unhappy place. read more

I still believe the best 2 course complex in the Valley but had a brutal experience Friday. 7 guys fly out for annual trip. Fully expect We-Ko-Pa to be gem of 3 courses we play. Our tee time on Cholla was noon. We finished at 6:10. Let me repeat that...6:10 pm. We played Troon Saturday in 4:15, Grayhawk in 4:00. Sunday. There's simply no excuse. We were told it was a single group and that the rangers had no power to move them along. Utterly ridiculous. Shame on you We-Ko-Pa, you are better than that!! You can't put 400 golfers out without an aggressive ranger plan. I will try to put out of my mind but tough given our other experiences over the weekend. Still love the courses. read more
