Just a quick warning about webworks internet. I was promised a site with the needs I had. Once i had gone through the over complicated process of asking for what i wanted they designed it missing out a large part of my request. This took months. When i called them to say this wasn't what i wanted i was told to pay more money. they then designed it and despite having asked for an updatable page I was then told to update would cost yet more money. Each time the extra cost is at a reduced rate so I'm getting a good deal. Their simple updater didn't work so I had to use an FTP updater which is a huge difference, much harder to use and not as advertised. This then took them a further month to set me up with. It also blocks my access every 2 weeks so I have had to call up each time to get unblocked. In total this took me over 3 months to setup a bad looking website with no functionality that cost me over 300 pounds. I then tried to get out of my domain hosting with them to be told it would cost 100 pounds. After a few emails and phone calls I got this down to 50 and I just paid out to get rid of their service. I have subsequently managed to achieve a new hosting and email service provided by godaddy who have great customer service. I then used squarespace to design my site. They also have great customer service and an intuitive web design. With no expertise and some proper customer care I achieved an amazing looking site for less than 100 pounds a year. read more

AVOID. I am a web designer and developer. I recently inherited a website for a friend that had decided they didn't want to pay ~£160 for a domain name (website address) to be renewed by WebWorks Internet. As a favour I decided to do this for them for free - all they required was to pay for a hosting package for a small static website - approx. 5 page - which would set them back £40 for a year. Now don't get me wrong, I know that people have to make a profit, but in my opinion this is criminal. This is a five minute job and they are making well over 200% profit for hosting and renewing a domain. Looking at their portfolio, all of the sites look the same, they all use the same design elements as each other. At this point I started to look into the code that made up their website. What I found was quite frankly appalling. I build websites everyday and I have never come across and website provided by a company that claims to be a SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and web design company that is has been so badly put together. What shocked me most of all was that WebWorks had carried out 'keyword stuffing' - this is the practice of filling up a website with keywords and then hiding them from human eye for example putting them in white on a white background. Anyone that knows a little bit about SEO will tell you that Google does not look favorably at this, and it can lead to your website being black listed, that is struck from search results. Further more, across a variety of websites they have in their portfolio and even their own website, they have not properly tagged the content. This is website building 101 and they just haven't done it. They also haven't at the time of writing given many images 'alt' tags. This is an accessibility issue that should not be overlooked. There were other things, using images in place of text for instance, which will not help a Google ranking and if someone with a visual impairment comes to your website, they will not be able to get this information. WebWorks did not seem to consider SEO when they were building this website. This company sets off alarms for me. The design isn't the worst. It's by no means great, but for the price I can accept what they provided from a design point of view. What I can't accept however, is the coding and SEO practices they have used. Hi I was approached by this company in November of last year - thay said they could set up a website for £99. I paid this money and was subsequently hounded for more and more money for various other things. I became suspicious so googled them and found a whole raft of complaints basically saying it is a scam and various other things both from ex employees and customers alike !! reviews are on Martins Money tips amongst others !! I checked with my bank and found they had taken £120 and not the £100 authorised - i was not surprised - the matter has been reported to the police and to watch dog read more

Steer clear of Webworks, I'm only giving them one star because there isn't an option for 0. I paid them over £200 for a website and, 10 months later, they have produced absolutely nothing. Zero. No response to my pleas for information and so I am now taking them to the small claims court to recover my money. I am also cancelling the card I paid them with as I see from Googling their company name that they not only deliver nothing, they also take money off people's cards without authorisation. read more

not happy at all with what they did and once they have your money not bothered all there interested in is selling you something you don't want not listening to you and doing what you ask.. very poor service read more
