They have helped me with things that other banks said I couldn't do. It is always a pleasure to do business at Peoples bank. Nathanial one of the local managers is a pleasure to work with. Ivan in the commercial loans department is awesome. Some things that are different from the other big local credit union that I previously banked at: They know your name when you walk in the door, at least some of the staff does. When I opened my small business account at this location I was told that the basic business accounts had no minimum balance requirement and would not be charged a service charge each month as long as I signed up for online banking and opted for online only statements. However, since I opened my small business account I discovered that they've been charging me a service fee every single month since I opened the account when they aren't supposed to be charging me one. First off, after hours is after hours, you will have absolutely no way to report an account breach, there is no option for this, there is a lost or stolen and you can shut your card off, but that's it, no one to talk to to help you through a scary, intrusive situation. When your account is completely wiped out by a hacker, they will tell you there is nothing they can do until all the charges clear! And then, and only then, can we dispute the charges, which will take up to a few weeks to maybe get your money back! YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE HERE! Especially if you are a paycheck to paycheck family, like a lot of us these days, you are risking not being able to provide groceries that week because a shitty person decided to steal your entire paycheck! You will risk not being able to purchase your prescriptions and hope to god you will be able to keep going till next payday because Banner Bank will not help you, not at all! As a matter of fact, they won't respond to any messages if they are sent in the after hours, don't expect to get a response ever. As I mentioned, I have never had an issue at this Chase in particular and can imagine that since it's in Bellingham that it's likely staffed by people who are local and may have even grown up or spent their entire lives living in the state of WA. So maybe, if you have a problem with someone who told you the time frame it would take to open a credit card with them in a fashion you were upset with, you should blame it on that person (who is almost 100% going to be a Washingtonian) and not somehow randomly talk about CA. Asian,…read moreHispanic and white employees there make their contemptuous disdain known by outright ignoring Black Americans upon arrival and then presenting their hostile condescending attitudes. They outright refuse to provide assistance by either stonewalling or by stating there's nothing they will do to resolve any issue. When I walked into the branch on two separate occasions, two different white males told baldface untruths that they hadn't any ability to reconcile my checking accounts. They stated they did not have any forms and didn't have notary services. In reality, neither wanted to accommodate my request because they did not want to provide customer service to any Black American. This typical mindset prevails among whites, Asians, and Hispanics in the area who socially exclude Black Americans from services because none like and desire working with Black Americans.

The interest rate would be changed at that time to the new market value. We received the form letter reminding us of this and letting us know when our term matured. We chose not to make any changes figuring a competitive market rate would still be offered. I happened to check yesterday. The 4-5 month CD is at 4.88%. Our now 6 month CD is at .15%! Yes! Almost nothing and less than our savings accounts making 1.24%. We did not receive any notice that a change this extreme was in the works. We are closing out the CD today and reinvesting. This is not a reflection on the Barkley staff, but rather on the management of the bank and their lack of communication to support their customers in making vital decisions to protect their well being.
