At first, I…read morewasn't even sure we needed a wedding planner, but after picking an outdoor site for both the ceremony and the reception we decided that a planner might indeed be necessary. Most of our planning was done with Jill, and though their name is Weddings by Nancy, I want to make sure to point out that if you end up working with Jill you will in no way feel that you are not getting top notch service. I loved working with Jill. One of the things I love about both Nancy and Jill is how calm they are, they will greet you with a smile and a hug and I never saw either of them ruffled, even by my frequent changes or indecisiveness. I was nervous that by working with a wedding planner that somehow I would feel like all my inspiration that I found and wanted to implement would be changed or somehow feel less "mine", but Jill really helped me feel like we were planning this together and allowed my ideas to shine through. That being said, if you are completely lost on what you would like for your wedding they would be a blessing too. One of the things they do really well is providing you a few ideas at a time as to not overwhelm or confuse you. Weddings by Nancy also designed our wedding invites and escort cards. We received countless compliments on them. They were fantastic. Outside of the execution of decor, I found the assistance of a wedding planner to be particularly helpful during the catering meetings. Making a custom menu was much easier with a planner helping guide the conversations. It was also helpful to have a planner along at the florist meeting to make sure we covered each arrangement needed. Having a wedding planner was essential for our outdoor location because I wasn't aware of the little extras we might need, for example, a generator, a tent for the caterer, or insurance for the bar. Weddings by Nancy also helped us organize shuttles for our guests which would not have been possible without their help. The knowledge and expertise of Jill and Nancy in these areas was invaluable. If you are a detailed budget person you will appreciate the budget that is given to you right away and updated regularly by Weddings by Nancy. I have often heard people complain they went way over budget, in the end, we did go over budget, but it wasn't because of Weddings by Nancy, they always offered solutions to keep us on budget, we just chose to keep all the flowers, or serve champagne, etc. On the day of the wedding was when it became 100% obvious that there was no way that the wedding of my dreams could have been executed without Weddings By Nancy. I was beyond pleased with all of the decor. As I mentioned earlier, I was nervous that somehow I would feel that it wasn't my ideas, but that wasn't the case at all. In the end, I felt like it was my ideas, their suggestions and expertise, and a whole lot of Jill and Nancy's sweat and hard work that made the day perfect. The wedding of our dreams was put to life. On the day of the wedding I was able to wake up and just worry about getting ready, there was no setting of the room, or decorating to be done on my part, all I had to do was show up. Weddings by Nancy on the other hand was there from 6 am until well after the last bus left. All in all, I think anyone would be lucky to have Jill or Nancy assisting them with their wedding.

I am a busy business owner and was feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the detail that goes into planning a wedding. It was also important to me that my friends and family did not have to work on my special day. Nancy is a very warm person and made me feel like my event was her only event. My wedding was very small and intimate but she took care that everything was just as special as any large wedding. Sadly, my parent were unable to attend my wedding. Nancy made the disappointment of this so much better. She did everything that a mother would do with her daughter during the planning process and on my wedding day. I felt as though I was her family. She was very accommodating to my availability for meetings, sometimes working late nights and weekends just to work with my schedule. She was also quick to answer my email and phone calls. She was professional in every way! Even under last minute changes that threatened to damper my wedding day, Nancy remained calm and offered satisfying solutions to any problems - truly going out of her way! I found Liz at the Rochester Unveiled bridal show back in January. I was toying around with the…read moreidea of boudoir photos as a wedding gift for my fiancé but I was on the fence until I met Liz. She is easy to talk to and has a professional yet fun demeanor which helped me decide to book my mini session with her. My wedding is in September so I had my boudoir photo shoot with Liz just a few weeks ago. First of all, Liz's guide of what to expect and lingerie and accessory tips were a godsend! I was really at a loss of what to buy that would be best for my curvy body and would make me feel beautiful and comfortable. I would have never thought to wear a bodysuit but Liz recommended them for curvy women and she was absolutely right! My bodysuit accentuated my curves and looked killer in the photos. Her recommendation of cheeky/Brazilian underwear instead of thongs was also really flattering to my figure, I would have never gone with those as I am used to wearing thongs. My other outfits included a fitted teddy, bridal bra and panty set, and of course a corset with thigh highs and garters for a more risqué look. DSW has a lot of great shoes for boudoir in their clearance section to keep it more affordable. I used earrings and bracelets I already had but after looking at my photos afterward it's not noticeable or really needed. If I were to do it again, I think some beautiful bracelets would be the only thing I would focus on. Manicures, pedicures, waxing, and tanning are all nice touches but not needed. These things might make you feel more beautiful but to keep it more affordable I would skip. I highly recommend adding the extra hour to your session. I am so happy I did this because I was able to add a few more outfits and really ease in and get comfortable with taking the photos. I had tons of great photos to choose from at the end! I was hoping for just a few decent ones but I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful they all turned out and I attribute that to having more time with Liz to get comfortable and try out different poses and facial expressions. Makeup was included in the package. I added hair for $25 since I'm not good at that. Lindsay was amazing and gave me beautiful wavy curls and sexy makeup plus she was super sweet and fun to talk to and really puts time into making sure everything is perfect. Starting with hair and makeup plus a delicious mimosa really helped me relax before the photo shoot. Did I mention how great the studio is?!? Modern, sleek decor with a great music system all contributed to the mood of the shoot. During the shoot and when viewing the final results, I was really impressed at Liz's great eye for capturing gorgeous shots. She is imaginative and a pro that really is a specialist in this type of photography. I'm still feeling beautiful and more confident weeks after the shoot. I just thought of this as a neat gift for my fiancé but I got much more of it than I could have imagined. I couldn't have asked for a better boudoir experience!!!!

When I was searching for vendors for our wedding, finding a DJ was the one I dreaded the most. I just wanted someone who would help keep the reception moving and keep guests on the dance floor, that was it. I just couldn't find anyone that we meshed with personality wise. Then I thought of Abby. Abby and I have known each other since college and I knew she was a respected DJ, but hadn't considered her for our wedding simply because I thought it would be too far for her to travel. When I reached out to her, not only was I surprised that she was ready and willing to make the trip across the state but that her prices were far better than the local DJ's I had talked to. Abby and I had some conversations via email, getting details of our wedding sorted out and giving her an idea of what we had planned. Abby then suggested we meet in person closer to our wedding date to finalize the details and ensure she had a vision of what we wanted for our day. From the start, Abby was professional and knowledgeable, asking me great questions and providing me with solid advice from her years of experience with weddings. On the day of our wedding, Abby was a saving grace. When our catering was late and I was panicking at the head table, she came up and reassured me that everything would be okay and was flexible with our schedule for that evening's events (i.e. first dance, speeches, etc.). She knew I was counting on her to keep the evening's events moving along so she even went up to the catering staff to get an idea when the food would be served. I was so relieved to have her there and know she would do a great job. Our guests loved the music and we had people on the dance floor the entire night. Abby took many requests from our guests for songs. Abby has several different packages to offer and even can provide ceremony music and colored lights for the reception. After an hour across Minnesota, it was time for a break and this rest area was nicely timed. Easy…read moreaccess though the entrance from highway to cars was pretty much a straight line. As well, the car area was next to the highway with the trucks further away. I prefer designs that help people slow down as they come in and put the cars further away from the road. This rest area has a playground and picnic tables and plenty of space for some green before you get back on the road. There are no signs prohibiting overnight parking which is a nice plus.
