The food was all freshly prepared at the venue and the waiter staff were well mannered and helpful. The only reason I did not go the full five stars is because I there were some guests that had to wait for starters and some only received a part of what was on the menu. This may have had more to do with the emergence of unexpected guests but I can only hope that Steve and the crew think about this possibility going forward. Would recommend them without a second thought.

We didn't have a taster session because we were short of time so even though we had complete trust in you, we didn't really know what to expect. But it was so tasty and right up our street! That creamy mash! So many people have commented on that! It was beautifully presented too. All of our friends and family loved the food and the service just surpassed all of our expectations! The staff were so lovely and professional but also really relaxed and a good laugh too! The coped so well with our self-stocked/strange bar! What was the lady at the front of house? I can't remember her name now... sorry, but she was just brilliant! Honestly, I don't know what we would have done without Dimblebee's on our wedding day. Sammy, you were so much more than a chef and I felt like you were our wedding planner and you completely put my mind at rest the day before the wedding when I felt like I had no idea what I was doing! Thank you for the help with the tables and the extra entrance/shelter - amazing that we didn't need it in the end! So, thank you so much. We will definitely recommend your services to anyone who are looking for caterers. Can't thank you enough! Anyway, that's enough gushing - take it easy! Best wishes, Kate and Dev x

MARK TOLLISS - WHAT A GUY!!!…read more My husband and I got married at Moxhull Hall in July. Nearly two months on and our wedding guests are still talking and raving about how amazing our DJ was. From the very beginning the entire process with Mark was seamless. Due to COVID 19 our wedding day got postponed on two separate occasions but this was not a problem at all. He accommodated our new date and made the changes easy. From initial emails and calls, to our online chat before the big day, Mark was fantastic at communicating. He took any stress away, made us feel at ease and even took the time to get to know our love story, wedding party and guests so he could make references throughout the night - we knew we were in safe hands! On our wedding day Mark did not disappoint but instead exceeded our expectations! The music choice was just perfect, the dance floor was full the entire time and nobody wanted the night to end. Personable, professional and super talented. Mark you are incredible at what you do and we cannot recommend you enough!

Looking around at the places in the city, I wanted to have a Launch event for #BrumHour at a creative and fresh venue. The owner, Chandeep has been a great champion of BrumHour, so it felt right that the venue would be the best host. I went down to The Space for the first time at the start of August 2014 and the three rooms vary a lot in size. However, they are all painted a brilliant white with high ceilings and huge windows to let a lot of natural light in. The main room is the carter room and can host around 50 people. When I came to host my event at the start of February 2015, I had 30 people and 5 tables with creative businesses from around Birmingham to share their project work on them. Chandeep was very clear about pricing, and timescales and this gave me a huge confidence boost that everything would run pretty smoothly. I hired the venue for 4 hours and used it for a 2 hour event including setup and going live. It can be used as a dance and drama rehearsal space, a creative gallery, a small theatre room or even a board room! Check out the website for more photos.

I like businesses that go the extra mile. I like people who anticipate what will make my life easier. The Space scored massively on all these counts. So, we needed a small meeting room away from our busy office to strategize and plan. All our usual meeting options where full, other venues either couldn't be bothered responding or were to pricey or not quite right. Normally a local coffee shop or similar could fit the bill, but not for this kind of meeting. I knew of The Space through Twitter, as another Jewellery Quarter business, so I dropped them a line. I quick response confirmed everything I needed to know and prices where very competitive. Booking was super easy. We all arrived to be greeted by the helpful and friendly owner (I think) and shown around. Our room was perfect. Tea and coffee and biscuits provided, self serve. The tea mugs were neatly arranged, the tea spoons were ready in clean water, water jug and glasses all arranged on the table, the heater was on, the chairs and tables just right. What this attention to details means is that we could simply relax and focus on the business of the day. It was a great meeting and the venue and service received went at least some way towards allowing that to happen. Worth noting that although The Space is kinda in the middle of an industrial estate it's also very close to the bus routes on Great Hampton St, the JQ station and maybe 5-6 minutes walk from Snow Hill. You can also grab a nice lunch at the equally excellent The Lord Clifden if you need to, tho the venue does do meeting catering upon request. Highly recommended all 'round!
Don't judge this store by its window display!…read more When we decided we were going to hire suits for our wedding this was the first place I thought of. Probably for the wrong reasons though. The wedding dresses I'd seen in the window had always reminded me of that TV programme 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'. Bright, crazy outfits, where all tradition had been thrown out of the window, not really my kind of taste, but as it was local we thought we would just enquire. Thankfully the window display was not a full representation of Formal Affair. The manageress was really down to earth and had the experience and knowledge we were looking for. She gave us advice in regards to patterns and different looks and she didn't take offence if we chose not to go with it, she just wanted us to be happy. Everything we wanted, we got! There was a lot of different waistcoat choices and though they didn't keep all sizes in-store there was at least one of each pattern so we could see what worked together. We had it all confirmed within the hour and left feeling surprisingly satisfied. Generally you collect the suits a couple of days before your wedding and return them a couple of days after, yet we had a phone call a week before saying they were all ready to collect in-store...bonus! We booked and paid for a suit package when there was a deal on but it seems this deal comes around every few months so I'd suggest you keep your eyes peeled no matter how far ahead your wedding is. We were well within budget and the boys looked great!

(Yes he got a black eye for the honeymoon - bride Sheila was livid - but on the bright side, they made £200 out of it). The sheer accessibility of the location, however, meant that it was my brother's first choice to at least begin exploring garb for himself, best man (me) and ushers. Once through the door, he never looked back, and this is where we were kitted out - and very smart we were too; not like Gary, from 1987, preserved on bundled-off-to-Beadle VHS, all emotional during his speech at a Trusthouse Forte. The clothes arrived on the agreed collection day as promised, with all items present and thankfully correct - we had heard horror stories from friends about other stockists who had supplied trousers with a waistband like a hula-hoop. While the staff were pleasant enough, there was very little interaction as we became mere clothes horses during prospective fittings. Almost inevitably, I felt vaguely spoken-down to. But that's because they thought I was Gary from 1987. I wasn't though, I was a real boy.

When my fabulous nail lady Beena moved premises to Tip Top and gave me directions, I was totally confused... "Which photography studio in the JQ?"... Once you have located it (there are signs outside) and climbed the staircase, you'll be greeted by one of the residents of the building. The studio is at the back of the set up with a bathroom, beauticians, office space and an agency all housed together. The studio itself is wonderful. Not huge, but set out with distinct areas for different styles of photoshoots. There is also a dressing room at the back for touching up your style pre-shoot. As well as product shoots, the studio do private shoots, themed event days (where live animals come into the studio), family shoots and photography courses. I'm pretty confident that you could become a Tip Top photographer yourself under the care of Debbie and Steve. This is a gem of a photography studio in the Jewellery Quarter. I discovered the studio recently, at an evening of photography and cocktails organised by Yelp. As part of the event we each got complimentary head shots taken by the Tip Top crew. I was advised on where to stand, in which direction to look and how I could pose, whilst the photographer snapped away. Shortly after the event I got one of the finished head shots by email - easy peasy! The studio is quite large and well equipped. They have a range of different backdrops and props for you to use, ranging from a scroll top bathtub to a tiny wooden horse. There's even a dedicated sprucing up area at the back, should you require a quick costume change. I would definitely recommend Tip Top to anyone who wants to get some professional photos taken.
