I have a problem lawn that has been neglected a few years. The lawn is mostly tough weeds like thistle, crab grass and very little grass. I called Weed Man to discuss my options for getting of the weeds. I'm very happy with the selection of weed treatment and aeration. I have also scheduled to have the lawn over seeded when the time is right. I was surprised at the affordable cost, too. The first weed treatment was this morning. That is quick service! This company is awful. A guy came to my door a couple months ago asking if I'd like a free quote on lawn service. I gave him my phone number and email address and got the quote. Since then, I've gotten at least one phone call a day from them--usually from a different phone number and always a different person. I've called back twice, asking them to permanently remove me from their contact list but the phone calls persist. I will never, ever hire this company and have told everyone I know about the excessive calls. It's ridiculous! read more

It's a shame they even get one star. They assured me they would get rid of the mosquitoes. They come out and "do a treatment". I don't notice any improvements and let them know and they say they will rush the next treatment and we would notice a difference then. They come, and nothing. No difference at all. I call and ask either for a refund since this is clearly false advertising or to come and spray again. They tel me all these reasons why they can't come and spray, but that they are attracted to O type blood one person said, another person I talked to told me A, and proceeded to tell me having to much potassium could be the problem to cut out eating bananas and drinking Gatorade! I am not a customer nor have I ever been, but on Tuesday 8/2/22 Weedman of Champaign applied fertilizer, weed control, and grub control to my yard. I saw their sign in my yard, and called the Champaign office. I was told that my certified wildlife habitat and a pollinator research yard was treated by MISTAKE! The woman said that an employee had accidentally confused my house for my neighbor's property. When I explained that my house and mailbox are clearly labeled, I was not given satisfactory answer as why or how this could have occurred. I asked for the owner or service manger to call me back the next day, no one ever called back. Now my pollinators, wild birds, and other wildlife have been poisoned. read more

They do good work. Staff is very receptive and accommodating when needed. They also have a great discount for referrals.

They were not great at all!! They would come by and not even service our yard. We have cameras so we can see them. They gave use some piss poor excuse about it was raining which it was not at the time he pulled up. To boot my grass doesn't look any better. Wht a waste of money!!! Do not hire them!!! read more

When we lived in Urbana they constantly knocked on our door, left flyers and called us even though we refused the service and asked to not be contacted. Now we have moved 1300 miles away and they still call and harass us. I can't speak to their level of service but I can definitely tell you they are persistent. read more

They don't listen or give up. I paid weedman to treat my lawn last year and my lawn got significantly worse than it had been the year before when I had no treatment done. I called them and cancelled the service with one treatment left last fall. This year I received a letter from them telling me about my service schedule for 2019. I called and cancelled again. I just received a phone call from them again asking what they can do for me. Seriously, the service was bad so I don't want it anymore. How much more clear can I be? read more

I started weedman 2 years ago. The first year was great. This year absolutely terrible. They did not treat the north side of the property and weed were everywhere. I called the office to express my concerns and they said they would spray every 14 days. The last time they treated my yard was September 3rd and today is the 30th and weeds are still everywhere. We had a really good service in 2018. Elected for almost all of their options (fertilizer, weed control, aeration, seeding, grub). Our lawn looked pretty good by the end of fall. They do have to push a little bit, but as expected as a service business. It was a very useful service with our lack of knowledge and time. read more

These people just rang our doorbell at 7:45 pm, in the 30 degree weather, asking to discuss our weed problems. Or -- it wasn't them and it was someone posing as them. If it was them--how fricking annoying can you be? And the guy had a uniform in, so there's that. We called the police. I hope it's a huge hassle for them. read more

After one season and hundreds of dollars invested, nothing changed a bit about my lawn. The people were very courteous and friendly but I'd rather have had some results on my lawn analagous to the money spent. Horrible customer service and billing process. They called me, offered me 3 applications at $45 each and are trying to bill me for 4 applications and even turned me into collections for $90 when I don't even owe them $90. I have been fighting this for months with them. One person says it's all okay and taken care of, another says the opposite. I don't even care about their lawn service. When you screw people out of money and then turn them into collections for debt they don't have and try to force more product on them than they agreed upon originally, they are no good. They missed so many weeds in my yard it wasn't worth the money. No new grass grew. Guy said he couldn't spray on/near rocks saturated with weeds. He couldn't explain to me why he could not spray the weeds in the landscaping rocks. Umh, that's what I hired you for. After firing them, they kept calling to sell me products. They called over and over and over for one year. I had to call them multiple times to get them to stop (and they have not stopped yet). They keep telling me my number is not in their system, yet I keep getting calls. Avoid at all costs. read more

DO NOT USE. They cold call like crazy begging for your business, then quote you an amount to do the job. They come out and can't get their equipment in the back gate so only do half the job. Then a few weeks later they bill you more than the original quote was for the full job. Three calls to them disputing the bill and they still have not dropped the bill down to half of the original quote, for the half job they did. read more

Have not used the weed man's services. I felt the need to review their business after their third visit to our home this spring. Each time asking to give us a free estimate. They also contacted us by phone throughout the month of April. After their repeated phone calls we did decide to treat our lawn with another company. After our first treatment, a teenager came to our door representing the weed man. When we told him we have lawn treatment he said, "no offense, your lawn shouldn't look like that if it has been treated properly." We told him it had been treated the day before for the first time. He again repeated "it really shouldn't look like that." Today, our lawn has never looked this good. We have no weeds and thick Truly Green grass for the first time. Thank you weed man for being a nuisance. You forced me to take care of my lawn and go with your competitor. read more

We used Weed Man at a previous house and we could tell the lawn looked better than it had before. But this is an easy expense to cut, so we canceled the service. This reason they are getting a 1 star rating. When they came to the door years ago, they wanted to talk to my husband who wasn't home. I was a little offended, but didn't think too much about it. Now, I have had several missed calls from a number at WORK over the last two weeks without any messages left. Today they called and I answered and it was weed man. They asked to speak to my husband. You are calling my work, which my outgoing message has clearly stated over the last two weeks. Now you want to talk to my husband? You've got the wrong number! read more

I switched from a "big name" lawn service to Weed Man about 3 years ago. The lawn was in terrible shape - creeping charlie, bind weed bald patches, etc. After one season with Weed Man the lawn was clearly getting better - not perfect, but a lot better. By the end of the 2nd season (the year of a horrible drought and everyone's lawns looked horrid) my lawn was looking great! This summer it continues to thrive. The staff is professional, polite and attentive. If I call with questions or concerns, they came out within a day or 2 to look at the issue and then do whatever they needed to do to resolve the problem. Service from them has been a total waste of money. Got the service because I had tons of weeds in my yard. They guaranteed results and said that they would retreat a second time if needed, at no additional cost. Three treatments in and still have weeds, even though I have it in writing - yes, in writing - that I would have no more weeds within 2 weeks of the 2nd treatment. I told them I didn't want anymore service until they resolved the weed issue that I had already paid for. They did another regular service call anyhow and charged me again. They told me that they could only continue retreating for weeds if I continued the regular service. So essentially, they do NOT guarantee the service unless you pay more money. Attempting to call the Corporate office to escalate the issue is also a joke. A continuing loop of automated messages that continues to take you back to the main menu. Trust me - and all the other reviewers here - don't waste your money. read more
