The dirt and field that we built on was former pasture…read more Our builder was amazing but the landscaping was something that we didn't discuss at length, and we certainly didn't know the right things to ask. So we got the typical sod rolled out before we closed on the house. Over time, the rocks and weeds over took our lawn, and we were left with a weed infested ugly lawn adorning our gorgeous modern farmhouse. We talked to several landscapers, many of them recommended, tearing out all of the green space and replacing it after replacing all the dirt. When Ryan's came out to talk to us, discussed their program where our lawn is pretreated for each season, and the lawn is treated for specific weeds or noxious grasses. At the end of the year, our grass is starting to grow back in, we do not have any weeds, including dandelions. We are confident that we saved our grass and avoided expensive re-working of the lawn. I wanted to leave a compliment specifically for the most recent treatment in December 2023. The technicians applied the granules and those are meant to treat the lawn and allow it to sleep for winter. This treatment prevents the early emerging bugs and yuck from spreading in the spring. I watched on my ring camera that they applied the granules all around our lot, but here's the special thing: they took the time to use a leaf blower and remove all the granules from our sidewalk and driveway. That is such amazing service! Not only does this prevent damage to our concrete, but it allows us to have clear sidewalks if we need to treat for snow and ice. That little detail is not something I would've thought of but it's something that I noticed and I want to think them for that extra effort! When they were done with the last treatment of this year, they made sure to let us know, and assured us that they would be back in the spring as we begin 2024 with a healthy lawn.

Winkler's came in more than a thousand dollars cheaper than the other quotes and we didn't have to skimp on the bricks that we wanted. We crossed our fingers and signed. The work was started almost right away and while we had a few delays because of this awful "Spring" weather, the work was completed quickly and it looks fantastic!! We didn't need to be at home for the work to be done and they cleaned everything up once the work was over. We have gotten a lot of compliments from the neighbors! I was so impressed with the work that, being the romantic that I am, hired them as an anniversary present for mowing services. So far, they have cut the lawn twice and they do edging/bagging/the whole nine yards. Very happy with the mowing service as well. To put the icing on the cake, today we got an email from the owner. The very next time they mowed my yard, the gate was securely latched when they left - problem solved! Additionally, I was notified after work last night (a Thursday)that my roof installation was rescheduled to the very next Monday. My lawn has been on the Mon-Tues lawn mowing schedule and early this morning, I realized that my lawn mowing needed to be rescheduled around the roof installation. So I messaged Dennis first thing this morning to explain what had happened and ask if they could fit my lawn into the schedule for today or tomorrow (Saturday) prior to my roof installation. I was told by Kenny that they would return to grind the stump. I have sent countless texts, emails and left messages for Gerry without response. Kenny did respond several times saying he had not forgotten about me and would be there but never showed. I had to hire another company to grind the stump that I paid Gloriosso to do and emailed Gerry for a refund for the stump grinding, still no response.

The second time in April 2024, Kenny quoted us for tree removal and stump grinding. They worked with us on scheduling around rain and had great communication for tree removal part of the job. But the day before tree removal Kenny said their stump grinder was broken and they couldn't do stump grinding. After removing the tree, he asked if I was comfortable paying for the tree removal part of the job they completed, which I agreed. Kenny said they would follow-up with stump grinding "tomorrow," but it was no-call/no-show. Then it was "next week," then again it was "we're busy with storm damage, first thing next week." I was pushed off for "next week" until after many weeks Kenny no longer responded via text. Glorioso Tree Service completed the work I paid them for, but I was led on for weeks on stump grinding that never happened. I had to hire another contractor to finish the job.

The crew's training and knowledge as arborists was clear - both trees looked wonderful when they were done. They didn't try to sell us any additional services; we were charged what they had quoted for the job. They had done work at our last place and our experience then was also very positive. I figured I would take the first company who got there, and contact the other one not to come. I did not know Van Booven had arrived and was already working because they did not contact me or ring my door bell. I looked out my window and no one was there in front of my house. So when the other company called, I told them to come out. Turns out after the other company called and I told them to come out, I heard some machinery so I went outside and saw Van Booven's truck parked 2 houses north of mine - I have no idea why so far away. Then I saw a couple of men on my driveway working on downed tree limbs. The other company arrived shortly and I had to turn Van Booven away. I would have used Van Booven if they had let me know they were there. When I told them I was using the other company, the man said they would send me a bill. Honestly, if you were a house painter and a homeowner asked you to paint their house, would you paint it any color you wanted, or would you first consult with the owners? This was a similar situation. Van Booven sent me a bill for $325 just for coming out. Given the above information, I do not recommend Van Booven as I do not feel they are honest and I feel they did not care what I wanted because they did not consult with me before they began working.
