It can be hit of miss so sometimes you go in and find nothing and other times you go in and love everything. It all depends on what they are able to get in stock so you have to give it a couple of chances before you write it off. They have AJ jeans which are my favorite and they are usually around $300 but sometimes you can get them for as little as $40 which is amazing. I have also found Frye boots there for $50 or so. The women who work in there are super friendly and super helpful as well so it always pleasant to go in there. Whenever I am shopping in the Old Port I try to stop in there first to see what I can find before I go spend a fortune at the other high end boutiques downtown. Even though we didn't buy anything, she helped us find a great local lobster restaurant, giving us three choices that locals prefer. Super nice lady! The goodies inside that I was most interested included a miniature tea set that said "Delft Pottery" on the bottom, some very old and tiny spoons, and pretty pocket watches. My uncle was looking for watch fobs, which she didn't have, but if you give her time, I bet she'll add them to her collection... I collect antique dolls and toys, and there were few of these items in her collection, but she did have a neat little trike from the turn of the century. It was just not what I was looking for at the time. Since the little shop didn't have exactly what we needed, I'll give four stars, but I want to say that the kind and friendly attitude of the lady running the store is worthy of five stars! I usually find that the appeal of a consignment store really rests in the eye of the buyer. With that said, Starry Eye's consignment collection is small yet particularly selected with a great many beautiful, quality items at reasonable prices. I should also mention that in addition to clothing, they have a great selection of shoes and even some quality toys and puzzles! I have purchased many gifts there for friends having babies and always get a "where did you get this?" when bringing a gift from Starry Eyes. Tip: The store does not necessarily wrap gifts, but they have adorable bags and tissue paper and are usually happy to fix something up for gift giving. Tip: They do have odd hours, so call ahead!

That is when I started to understand and appreciate what they do for their community. After hearing that they take part of their profits to help build houses for people that would otherwise unable to have a house I knew that this was a place to support. My first time in was to mostly scope out the joint. They have a furniture room, an electrical and lighting room, and the main room that consists of lumber, tools, cupboards, bathroom items, and more. While wandering I overheard a manager discussing with one of the volunteers that they usually look up the item and price it half of what local retail places would price it at. Yowzers! I like that! These prices gave me motivation for projects. My new place needed shelves in so many places that I knew If I went anywhere else I would pay a fortune. When I returned to the store the following day I did so with a list of dimensions for the different shelving projects I needed. Their lumber section is random lengths and types of woods so you need to use one of their tape measures to explore and find what is the right length. I somehow found all I needed! When I went to find shelf brackets a volunteer saw me pawing through the bin and walked over. She told me someone just donated a ton and they just hadn't been put out yet. She hurried behind the counter and came back with an arm load. "How many do you want?" Score! I have returned more than once since then to buy nails, screws, and scope out their tables which is next on my list. Right now they have tons and again everything is priced so reasonable that all seem a possibility for me.
