WHAT A MISERABLE NOTARY FROM HELL!!! Notary did not answer our emails, for how to fill up the papers. Notary mixed up 1031 exchange with regular mortgage - did not knew the differece. Notary produced papers with spelling errors in our names. And after all of this Nightmere - she refused even to appologise! Mr. Irvine should have referred me to the consumer finanance protection agency when I lost my job and needed to refinance my mortgage. Instead, he negotiated the sale of my $240,000 condo for $95,000, claimed I was not eligible to purchase the property myself, and required me to forfeit my $24,000 deposit. What thieves. read more

This firm should be called "Douche & Irvine" Mark Weeks singlehandedly held up a closing by *one* month, that was all cash, with a couple irregularities. The firm is a hot mess internally. Someone handling the case quit, and he blamed this girl for them taking *three* weeks to re-assign the case to someone else. Mark did his fair share of mansplaining basic information to me, making things seem more complicated than they were. When I pointed out to him on a call that he knew *nothing* about the property in question, getting major details wrong that were relevant in actually moving the closing forward, he told me "I do 20,000 closings a year, I don't like your attitude, and if you don't like our service, you should find another lawyer". He did this while I was overseas, and knew that I couldn't get another power of attorney. All his firm had to do was send out two emails that would have taken 15 minutes, which they didn't do for ONE MONTH. My favorite highlight of his unprofessionalism may be when he no-showed a call he scheduled, keeping me up until 3 AM at the Helsinki airport, for information the law firm already had. Mark caused me thousands of dollars in delays, and was generally an arrogant, blasé [noun goes here]. He THEN tried to charge me $1200 for the closing. When I brought this up on closing he said "you can find someone else to close for you if you want". When I mentioned reporting his license to the SC bar, he perked right up and adjusted the price. I should probably go after carrying costs for negligence through small claims, and report his license. Don't get bullied by these entitled guys who are born and raised in Charleston, thinking they can behave how ever they want toward younger women. I own 21+ rental units, have done my fair share of purchasing, and have never experienced anything close to the unprofessionalism demonstrated in a simple property closing. read more

in March of 2024 Weeks & Irvine were the representatives for our first purchase in West Ashley. They failed to discover some irregularities and start the fix. My wife had to do some of their leg work for them. We swore we would never use them again. 14 months later we are purchasing another property in North Charleston and wow Weeks & Irvine are the the sellers reps. 4 days before closing they finally did a search to leans or mortgages on the house. Unbelievable, come to find out there are leans and a mortgage that has not been paid. Now more is owed on the house than we offered to buy it for. we went under contract on April 9th 2025, they discovered these issues on 2 June 2025. This should have been discovered a month ago, but no, so we have been sitting and waiting anticipating the closing when we could have been looking for a different house. Now I had to contact Painters, Flooring, Tree Service, and Surveying company along with electric and internet to Cancel or delay activation. I'm so mad! I Called Mr. Weeks yesterday and he basically defended his company as expected. I WILL NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE PROPERTY THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WEEKS & IRVINE. They have no consideration of the people buying the properties. read more

They seemed to do a good job, until my property tax bill came. They had used the prior year's tax bill to estimate the current year. Not sure where they got their information, but they were under on their estimate by over 40%. They also did no homework in seeing that sell prices in that area had risen significantly and would likely dictate an increase in taxes, which should have been at least somewhat accounted for in their estimate. Well...taxes DOUBLED year over year. I closed in mid-September 2022, the bills for 2022 were likely issued in October. But they had misread the 2021 bill already. When I raised my hand during closing and expressed disbelief at how low the 2022 estimate seemed to be, I was told they had researched thoroughly and this would be the likely amount for the upcoming year. Long story short, I'll own the property for a little over 3 months of 2022, but will pay TRIPLE the taxes estimated at closing FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. The original owner is, of course, long gone and very much unlikely to pay the share he truly owes. And Weeks & Irvine's attitude: big shrug. "Oh well, did the best we could with the info we had". Yeah, sure. Outside of the fact you estimated upcoming taxes being over 40% less than the year prior, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And not accounting at all for the record rate increase in property sales values. What do they care? I'll have to eat the bill, or my new property will be held in arrears. Bang up job, guys. NOTE: I am supposed to hear from one of the attorneys. Will update if outcome changes. read more

I have closed now (in my lifetime) on 4 houses, and several refi's. Only in S.C. do you need to utilize an attorney for closing. We had previously used LaFond Law for 3 closings (on Hwy 17) with wonderful results- this was the first time we had to use W&I. We had received a call asking which time we would like our appointment; 11, 1 or 3pm? We decided on 3pm, and arrived at 2:50. We sat in the lobby until 3:30, when I asked the office manager how late the attorney would be, and she replied that our appointment was at 3:30. finally, at almost 4pm, the gentleman came out and ushered us into the meeting room. He asked if we wanted to go over the amounts, or just sign? Of course... we wanted to go over the amounts! Well, every single payoff was incorrect (his answer: they can send you a check or invoice you after the payoff) AND they had me paying off my mother's car loan, when I had expressly told them I would not be doing that. (He then said: well- the car loan is in there because of the debt to income ratio)... I asked "doesn't it make sense that the ratio would be BETTER if the loan wasn't in there?" He replied that I needed to go back to our loan manager and talk to him. This was a colossal waste of our time, and I could tell that they didn't care one way or other if our loan closed. read more

Dealt with Weeks in 2004 when we purchased our house. We bought title insurance and had the title searched. No problems with the search. 18 years later, we are trying to sell the home. Weeks is the attorney for the buyer. Now the title search states a problem from 1940s and that I may not completely own my house. Someone owes me an explanation. read more

I was here last week for a mortgage closing. My RE agent was already there, and after a few minutes of chit chat in the lobby, we were invited in to the closing room. Nice chairs and a big table with a window view of Orleans Rd. Closing was as smooth as a closing can be, with paperwork laid out and prepared for signing. Documents were explained properly where needed, and copies were swiftly made after we wrapped up. Entire process took just under an hour, but that's pretty standard for RE closings these days. read more

Very difficult to get a call back. They are in the business of providing property closings and hold all of the cards at the end of the day...Yet, if you need clarification or information in order to provide them with what is required, good luck! Down to the wire, closing in a few hours...still no final $ closing costs nor info on where to wire (required),funds! Nothing like a little added stress. Only positive thus far is the temp that seems to understand their chaos and felt my pain when calling in to ask for help. read more

Time kept getting pushed back. When we finally show up a hour and 45 minutes later they tell us our stuff still isn't ready to come back at 7. This was close to 5 o'clock. We lost out on our movers and still had to pay them since they were already here. We hired them since we were injured but couldn't reschedule since we already did 2 other times that day. Now let's push forward a few months and I find out they should have given me a key card and they didn't. We have to pay to get access to our pool. read more

The Jiffy Lube of real estate law. Lawyer kept bragging about "being triple booked." Says they're following "all CDC guidelines," but they aren't wearing masks. Cost me $50 in "rush fees" because paperwork wasn't applied for in the 1st 3 weeks that they had to work on it. Didn't even MENTION the rush fee - just told me it had to be done ASAP - and I had to ask because I saw it on the invoice. Never got confirmation of closing time, and never saw a closing settlement until I was already there. Given a choice, I won't use them again. read more

This is a law firm that does real estate transactions/closings. I dealt with their Rivers Ave. location and was very unhappy with the entire process. After I left the office I received a phone call saying they had forgotten a document and I had to go back to their office to let them correct it. I had come in from out of town for the closing and I had to fight rush hours traffic to get back so it was a real inconvenience. A couple weeks after that I got a letter from the county assessor's office saying there had been an error on the deed and that needed correction. I've bought and sold many homes in my life and have never experienced anything like this... read more
