A tiny place with crooked walls and narrow rooms that serves excellent white wine from the region. The service was a little matter of fact, but that is neither here nor there. Rooms are candle lit (if I remember correctly) and you can get a sampler tray of wine with hors d'ouevres. Very romantic. Went here with my girl (yes, I got some afterwards!) My question for an extra plate charge was denied. The food came out after about 15 minutes and she Schnitzel and the fries reeked of old frying fat. The Gulaschsuppe had a huge blob of whipped cream on the top and pieces of fat were mixed in with the actual Gulasch. I would not go there again.

But the food wasn't at par; it wasn't bad, it just wasn't meeting expectations and a bit bland in taste. I've eaten the Spiessbraten, my wife the pork sirloin and my daughter a pork schnitzel wiener style. The price for the schnitzel was outrages for a fried factory produced piece of meat; somehow I got the impression that the cook think that children that have taste and as long as fries are involved you can do anything. The other dishes were better, but far from creating warm memories. Salad is from a buffet, which looked okay. Nevertheless we are suspicious that something was wrong given the experience later in the evening at the toilet; hard to proof. The service is reasonable, not super friendly but makes the impressed to be stressed. I will not return, but maybe you have a better experience if you choose a trout. Score: 2 out 5. Our family stumbled upon this little place and had wonderful Christmas dinner after a day in the…read morecave markets. It's such a cozy little spot with a live pianist and dim lighting. The meals come with a nice German salad bar. The fresh trout is killed when you order it and comes head on - it's fabulous. The Christmas special was another highlight of the meal - goose with stuffing, sweet red cabbage, stuffing and a stuffed apple. The cheese plate is also large and impressive. Our service was wonderful, and I was quite impressed about how much great food we got for the cost. Definitely recommend!
