I visit this Weis infrequently; only when visiting relatives in the Carbondale area -- but have been visiting for many, many years. My most recent stop was only to pick up some sliced almonds ($3.29) for a recipe -- an item that the two nearby Dollar Stores didn't carry. While there, I also passed a nice display of dried chili peppers, and bought some arbol chilis on whim ($2.29 for 3 oz). Relative to the grocery stores closer to my home, Weis has a far more extensive selection of items. For example, the fruits and vegetables, and salad bar, seem gigantic in comparison. And, as mentioned, I was able to pick up a specialty item, the arbol chilis that aren't available closer to home. Prices are seemingly a bit higher than home, and higher than some groceries stores headed towards Scranton but you'll save some on gas! One odd thing. I found on my receipt that I had earned a few Weis Rewards Points that could be used for gas at Weis' Gas-and-Go, Sunoco, or Mirabiro Fuel locations. However, the points were expiring the very next day (on Nov 25). I am happy to have this store in Carbondale. Staff were friendly. Check-out was easy. Parking was plentiful. read more

I was locked out of my apt this morning...and my phone was dead. I went into Weis seeking just a phone to call my daughter to let me in. The employee I encountered acted astounded when I asked to use a phone. I explained to her my situation and she then said she "had to ask" if I may use a phone. She got another cashier and they stood discussing my problem while I stood there while a phone was less than a foot from me. Rather than add to the more than 10 minutes I waited I chose to leave and use the phone at Burger King..what if this were a life threatening emergency? I go shopping here when visiting relatives in Forest City. The store is large, well stocked, and has a good variety of deli and bakery items. Prices tend to be a bit higher than I'm used to where I live, but they're the only game in town so if you want it, you pay their price or drive to a competitor miles away. This store would have gotten a 4 star rating from me but check out here is always so very slow! If I'm by myself and I have a small cart of things, I'll self-check. That's one way of getting out faster - generally! I especially like the salad bar in the deli area where you make your own. I get a side of dressing and have enough for a dinner salad a couple of days. There's a great variety of veggies for the different kinds of greens. I highly recommend the salad bar. Online shopping and picking up? Forget this store! I called when I arrived and was told that they would have my order ready in 5-10 minutes. After waiting 25 minutes I called the store and asked for a manager on duty. The manager on duty Bernie apologized and said he would be out to give me an update ASAP. They finally gave me my order. No further apology. I had to ask the order shopper if I had received everything for the order. It was really sad! And I even said that I was previously a Weis online shopper and understood how difficult it is to get through the store during holiday shopping! Even after I said thank you again once I confirmed that they gave me everything they didn't acknowledge me or the simple fact that I was acknowledging what is involved with shopping an online order is truly appalling! read more

Was told by staff that corporate indicates mask wearing cannot be enforced, saw many people in the store without masks with no action being taken. My husband and I spend in excess of $200 a week at the Carbondale store and will no longer be shopping there due to weis markets non enforcement of Covid 19 safety measures. We both work in health care and know first hand how deadly Covid 19 can be. read more

This makes me sad to do this because we love Weis. But I was there this morning with my kids and my daughters wanted to see the Lobster but the guy that works in that department said "Don't hit the tank." I was there right by them and they didn't even hit it. I guess before that he was fighting with another employee. So he was in a bad mood . But we are customers and these are kids age 5&3. read more

Super overpriced. They rely on locals who can't get down to Walmart easily. Be prepared to wait in line for a good 10 minutes. If you need to pay a bill or something at the service desk, I've waited 20 minutes before. read more

Worst super market company in this region. I know many people who work in this company and the company has 0 compassion for their employees. They treat the employees like an expense, not an asset, and their work shows that when you need help with something. There's a revolving door on employees simply because management wants blood from a stone. The store has a very big variety, but a very big price to go with it. My favorite is the "Why pay more" price tags on items that got a price increase from the previous week. Do they think people are this dumb? The store is very clean and very well stocked, but the prices are outrageous. This is the year 2011 and consumers have choices. Pasqualie's (another grocery store) is 2 minutes within Weis and Walmart is 20 minutes. The lines at the front take you forever to get through as they usually only have 2-3 out of 13 registers open. What kind of super market opens 2 registers at 4 in the afternoon? Pros - Large variety, clean store. I went to get something from the deli on 11-19-12 two days before Thanksgiving and there was one person working behind the counter. How can you serve people when you have no workers working!!!! Especially two days before Thanksgiving. When I asked for help the worker gave me attitude, like what you expect me to actually do something. RIDICULOUS. Get a clue and hire people who want to help and work with the customers. Finally when I said something to customer service they laugh at me.
