I have been a loyal patron of the Lake Region IGA for over 20 years and have always loved the place. However, I've noticed a decline in the service at the deli recently. I understand it's summertime, and you're busy with out-of-towners, but this past week, I had a particularly disappointing experience. At least once a month, I stop by at 7:30 AM and grab a premade Italian hoagie, asking the deli staff to add mayonnaise and oil and vinegar. They've always done this without any issues. However, this time, I was told they were not allowed to do that. It was frustrating because I was trying to save time on my way to work, and I had to let them make me a new Italian hoagie on the spot which made me late for work. When I spoke to a gentleman in the produce department about it, he seemed surprised and couldn't understand why they couldn't accommodate my simple request. Today, July 30, my Bride called in an order around 11:30 am to be ready for 5:00 Pm She ordered a pound of unsalted ham and an Italian hoagie without pepperoni. When she picked up the order and checked it in the car, she found they had given her honey ham and included pepperoni on the hoagie. She returned to the deli department, only to be told that they were closed and couldn't fix the mistake. This was particularly frustrating because we needed the order for that evening, not the next day. I'm very disappointed with the recent operation of the deli department. Management needs to take a closer look at what's going on and ensure that customer service standards are maintained. read more

Over priced items. They charge 30-50% more on a lot of everyday food items. You would think they'd want to support the local community by having average prices. I only go shopping here if I have to. Maybe if they had normal prices, I wouldn't have to shop at Walmart. read more

My best friend and I are on a long weekend mini-vacation and needed some provisions that we forgot coming up to our rental. Lake Region IGA fit the bill for our needs. This clean supermarket does not have as much selection as I'm used to at home, but does have a lot within their 10 or so aisles. The seafood section is rather poor, but just about everything else was adequate. They also have a decent beer and wine section. We were about to get what we needed for a nice homemade dinner and it wasn't too expensive. The aisles are not too wide so watch out with your carts! Staff was more than willing to help point out where things were located. Cashier was nice. Supermarkets are few and far between here; make sure you don't forget anything on your lists otherwise you'll have another half hour trip to make one way. read more

Fresh products, great meat cuts, and really good sales. The clerks, customer service, deli people, and manager are all very helpful and courteous. It's a friendly atmosphere, and honestly seems like a bunch of friends all working together. read more

This store is perfect! We have q summer home here and can't wait to shop at IGA when we are in the area. We were here this past weekend, and am employee named Mike who was working in the dairy section helped us when we asked where something was. He was very pleasant, and smiled and was very helpful! Let me tell you about the beer on the East coast...... it's unbelievable!! California is on no level to be compared to Pennsylvania when it comes to beer, they blow California out of the water I have to say I had some of the best beers out here on the east coast. read more

Every time I venture to Hawley, I make it a point to stop in here. It's a modest and charmingly "quaint" supermarket with a real small town vibe to it. The prices and selection are adequate to decent considering the area it is located in and I definitely like the local spices and seasonings available there which are well priced and of good quality. I stock up for the year on them as that is usually the frequency I manage a trek to Hawley. Of course there are bigger superior options if you're willing to commute further. But you might be surprised by what's available here and in a clean, non-harried environment to boot. All of the staff seem friendly and competent to me, judging from years of interaction with them during my visits here. read more

Prices are a bit more compared to nearby stores. The aisles are a bit unorganized (lay out of store is a bit puzzling). Many of the employees I walked past never made eye contact and acted as though they did not observe you near them. That said the store is very clean. Prices are clearly marked. Product fresh with no items expiring soon. Now, quite a bit different in the front end of the store. Customer Service was top notch. Smiled, very knowledgeable, and a sincere smile. Cashiers were just as kind. Many stores lost their "thank you have a good day" values. Not at this store. A simple "hello" and ended "thank you". A true lost art but these front end associates still hadn't lost this art. read more

This place was MUCH better when it first opened over 30 years ago. Now it's nothing special. No variety, same national brands as every other store on the world, overpriced. . . and they'll always say "Yes" when you call and ask if they have something, but when you get there, not only don't they have it, they claim they never heard of it. The old Acme down the hill was better. read more

The speed and service at the deli is in real need of help. Even on quite days the folks move very slow and avoid eye contact with customers. There must be a more efficient way to help customers other than asking them to text their order ahead of time. And if you want seafood or salads you still have to pull a dreaded "deli number". Great choices--more fruit choices than Walmart. The deli/bakery section is fresh with fast service. A real butcher on duty carving fresh meat the proper way. The cashiers and service personnel are wonderful. Lots of different food choices. The owners give back tremendously to their community and that reason alone should be enough to get anyone to go there. read more

I am writing to express my extreme displeasure at the racial harassment that I and my 18 month-old son experienced at one of the Lake Region Supermarkets. When I was checking out on Friday, Aug 2, at the Lake Region Supermarket (Route 6 & 590 Hawley, PA), the cashier held up the bananas that I was purchasing and said to my 18 month old son, who is African-American, "Mmm, I bet you know about these." I spoke to the general manager who assured me that he would conduct an investigation and advise the cashier that from now on, she is not to say anything to customers aside from "Hello" "Thank you," etc. I, however, do not feel satisfied with his reaction and am quite emotionally distressed as a result of shopping at the store. read more
