The WORST experience I have ever endured with a Doctor's practice…read more First, the Physician's Assistant who saw me was wearing a dirty lab coat AND was clearly suffering from a respiratory or throat infection. Second, a routine blood test for thyroid, potassium, and cholesterol took 30 minutes of trying to find a vein and finally sticking me in each hand. Third, I was told that the test results would be available the following Monday and to call or come in for results. I drove to the office on Monday at 4:15pm and was told that results had not come back. Fourth, FOURTEEN calls and three days later the front office finally told me that the testing lab said that not enough blood had been collected to complete ANY of the three tests, and asking me to come back in! There is not a chance that these people will ever see me again.

Around September, I became very ill. I was struggling to breathe, dealing with a severe cough, headaches, and cold chills. Naturally, I went to the doctor. I couldn't see my primary doctor at the time, so I saw the nurse practitioner instead. She was very friendly, and she tested me for COVID and strep, but the results would take 24 hours. However, they never tested my blood, and when I asked about any medicine, they said I wouldn't be prescribed anything, just to take over-the-counter medications like Motrin. Despite taking the recommended medicine, I continued to feel sick. The nurse practitioner said she'd follow up with me in 24 hours, but the call was delayed, and my mom had to reach out herself. When they finally called back, the doctor said it wasn't COVID or strep, just a sinus infection. But I knew something more serious was wrong. Over the next few days, I still felt terrible--and could not breathe. I ended up having to go to the hospital, where they discovered I had pneumonia. I needed fluids and treatment for that. The real issue wasn't the misdiagnosis or the nurse practitioner's mistake--it was when I returned for a follow-up appointment with my new pediatrician, Dr. Ghazala Khalid. My previous pediatrician, was Dr. Lynette Jattan, she retired, and I'd been seeing Dr. Khalid for 3 or 4 years, maybe more. When I went in for my check-up, I explained some lingering symptoms: I was still out of breath after walking long distances, my appetite was still gone, and I was dealing with some aftereffects. Dr. Khalid seemed dismissive, saying that everything from the pneumonia was gone and that she didn't see anything else wrong with me. But what really upset me was when I mentioned I was still having trouble breathing. She responded by saying, "Sometimes it's just in your head after being sick." As a 17-year-old, I know how to articulate what's happening with my body. I would never lie about my health. To have my concerns brushed off like that was really hurtful. It's difficult to explain how upsetting it was to hear that from someone who is supposed to be a professional, especially considering how serious my illness had been. Another issue that made me feel unheard was when I brought up my misdiagnosis. Instead of addressing it with empathy, Dr. Khalid spent most of our time defending her nurse practitioner, which, while understandable, didn't make me feel any better. I wasn't upset with the nurse practitioner--mistakes happen--but I would've appreciated a simple apology or acknowledgment that my experience was less than ideal. I just didn't feel like there was any compassion or understanding. Lastly, when I arrived for my follow-up appointment, I had to wait almost an hour to see Dr. Khalid. All these little things added up to a deeply disappointing experience. I'm really sad to have to say this, but I will not be returning to Congress Pediatric. I hope others have a better experience, but this was my reality. As someone who wants to be a pediatrician one day, I couldn't imagine treating a child this way. Compassion and listening to a patient's concerns are key. I didn't feel either of those things during my visit. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with a representative…read moreproviding all of my health background information, my past surgeries, and filled out forms they sent me for medical records, insurance information, etc. Then today I received a call from another representative stating the doctors don't have a care plan for me. I asked why not. The representatives stated that they didn't provide a reason. So that's it? I have multiple injuries, surgeries, body areas that I get injections, prescriptions, etc. and this pain center doesn't even want to see me? And I get no explanation on why not! That's insane. This place deserves 0 stars as these doctors are not stars... they are bums!
